What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

Yeah, those seem to be the going rates for ticket master which is down at the moment. I was looking at third party scalper rates. Bastards buy up all the tickets then sell them at double or tripple the price.

      Main Floor
      US $88.00 - US $178.00

      Executive Level (Lower Bowl)
      US $28.00 - US $128.00

      Arena Level (Upper Bowl)
      US $28.00

GERMAN BOXER ABRAHAM GETS TO KNOW DETROIT PRIOR TO FIGHT
        BY MIKE BRUDENELL

        Detroit Free Press
        March 23 2010
        MI

King Arthur Abraham, who fights Andre Dirrell of Flint at Joe Louis
Arena on Saturday night, hasn't taken long to find his feet since
arriving from Germany over the weekend.

Abraham, an Armenian-German who lives in Berlin, has done roadwork
on Belle Isle, visited the Joe Louis statue at Cobo Hall and found
        himself a maize-and-blue Michigan T-shirt.

He even favors the Michigan football team, he says, which might not
sit well with Spartans fans at his Showtime Super Six World Boxing
Classic super-middleweight bout at the Joe.

Through an interpreter, Abraham (31-0, 25 knockouts), who once fought
and won with a shattered jaw, said Monday he followed soccer at home
but admired U-M as a football program.

"Everybody in Germany knows the University of Michigan," said Abraham,
making his first visit to Detroit. "It is big and famous. Yes, I know
a little, too, about the football team. I like American football. If
there are Michigan State fans at my bout, would they please remember,
        I fight Andre, not them."

Abraham is in town a bit early to watch U-M play, but he will be at
the Red Wings-St. Louis Blues game with Dirrell, 26, the former U.S.

        Olympic bronze medalist, on Wednesday.

"I enjoy many sports," Abraham said. "Hockey is very tough."

He would make a good defensive back or winger. He's strong, quick and
fearless at 165-170 pounds. On Sept. 23, 2006, he won a decision over
Edison Miranda of Colombia despite having his jaw broken in two places.

"I couldn't KO him, but I finished the fight," said Abraham, 31, of
his first meeting against Miranda, when he retained his International
Boxing Federation middleweight title. "I felt proud as a man that I
was able to defy the pain."

In a return bout in 2008, Abraham won by TKO.

On Wednesday, Abraham will work out at the Kronk Gym on Warren in
Detroit. Dirrell (18-1, 13 KOs) will be on hand.

"Of course, the Kronk has made some great fighters," Abraham said.

"Thomas Hearns is a legend -- one of the best in history. I have met
Emanuel Steward a couple of times. It will be great to see him again
        in person."

Abraham is also aware that Dirrell, who trained with his younger
brother, Anthony, as a youngster at Kronk, will have a huge home-crowd
        advantage at the Joe.

"That does not matter," he said. "In the ring, it is just the two of
us -- Andre and me. I focus on Andre."

In his first fight of the Super Six tournament, Abraham knocked out
American Jermain Taylor in the 12th round in October. Dirrell lost
his opening bout to Carl Froch on a split decision.

"I was happy with my victory over Taylor, but I think I can improve
against Andre," Abraham said. "I can get a little better."

Abraham lives with his parents in Berlin, returning to Armenia several
times a year to visit the grave of his grandfather and leave his
grandmother a special present -- flowers.

"I have had 31 fights," said Abraham. "I give my grandmother 31
        flowers."

Looks like I'm stuck with work up to my eyeballs so I didn't even bother getting tickets but I'll surely find the nearest sports bar that's showing the event. I think the atmosphere is going to be something else if there are a significant number of Armenians from the Detroit area in attendance.

Re: Arthur Abraham vs Andre Dirrel March 6. Anyone going?

The ref was one definitely smoking something before this match. He was somewhat favouring Dirrell but overall, he was just awful throughout the bout.

Abraham suffered a cut but the ref never determined whether the cut was from a head butt or punch.

Abraham knocked Dirrell down and the ref said was a slip. He had to have been blind because Abraham hit Dirrell with a flush punch right in the face and the ref still called it a slip. This was actually an opportunity for Arthur, because Dirrell got up stunned and had Arthur followed up after the knockdown, Dirrell would have been finished.

Let's see what else went wrong.... in the middle of a round the ref allowed the doctors not just to look at the bad cut that Abraham had, but to treat it which isn’t allowed.

The worse was the ending. The ref was in awful position when the illegal punch took place. Dirrell basically threw himself to the canvas trying to avoid Arthur's array of punches. He wasn't hit and it didn't appear as though he slipped (I'll give him the benefit of the doubt but a true boxer doesn't back down when being attacked). The ref was so out of position when this happened that it appeared as though he thought Dirrell actually went down because he got punched. In fact, Dirrell just went on one knee for whatever reason and Arthur just laced him out of instinct because the ref didn't make the call.

The fight itself was still very interesting until the wacky ending and the drama that followed. Sports shouldn't be about controversial drama. I hate drama.

Americans are just basterds, this game was unfair. and they need to KO that basterd ref afther the fight. and that bitc.hy brothers of dirrel.

Abraham just knew they gife this fight to dirrel anyway, thats why he did that. Better to lose with KO dirrel, than lose with decision, am proud of Abraham.

Re: Arthur Abraham vs Andre Dirrel March 6. Anyone going?

This was the first boxing match i attended and it was a unique experience i enjoyed very much. There were many Armenians there mostly from the sizeable Detroit community but also many Armenians came from other cities to watch the fight. My friend and i were sitting behind a bunch of young Armenian men from LA but overall there were way more blacks then Armenians and Direll had the home advantage. Tence moments did develop in the crowd during the fight with blacks and Armenians booing each others fighter.. but surprisingly enoughf no fights errupted. There were some fine looking women there (Armenian and black and white..). The guy sitting next to me was a black guy who was knowledgable about the sport and i really enjoyed talking to him after each fight. The preseeding fights were mostly mismatches some of which i think should have never been fought but there were a few good fights in there with KOs. The main event was pretty intence. Arthur acted like the punching bag he always acts like with his big forarms absorbing most punches while he walks around in his high gaurd stance looking for his oppnent to make a mistake. Direll fought a smart fight. He scored many points knowing full well he was gona need then in the end. He gave Arthur more trouble then most of the other fighters had done. Direll had speed, decent power and boxing ability. Arthur did have him hurt in the end and the fight was following the typical Abraham script (maybe he was behind a bit more then he usually is) with him coming up big at the end and knocking out his tired opponent but he blew it for himself at the end. I cant say for sure if Direll would or would not have survives 1.5 rounds but he was ahead on points and he was tired and hurt. Arthur was a little hurt earlier in the fight but he really is a toughf dude with great power and i think he had a good shot of getting a legit KO late in the fight. I imagine the punch at the end looks pretty bad in slow motion replay but in the live situation it was not like that. If you see your opponent getting wobbely your instinct is to finish him off and thats what he tried to do and it was a much closer call on his part then replay might make it appear. Direll was the better boxer but Arthur is the better fighter and i feel he had a legit chance to ko. Direll did last longer then most fighters due to him being in good shape and evasive. I would very much like to see a rematch and perhaps they will meet in the tournament again. The reff was pretty bad and a good reff would have been there in the end to stop that last punch but he wasnt anywhere near the action - totally out of position. Abraham did complain of low blows early on but without the benefit of replay i dont know if they were legit complaints. The ref disregarded his complaints and made some glaring mistakes like not counting legit kd. A disappointing finish to a good fight but a great experience for me.
