-ian is a popular suffix to Iranian last names. Even Ahmadnejad was born with a last name ending in -ian. Some Irish also have -ian suffix.

    Noshad Alamiyan
    Mohammed Bidaryan
    Ebrahim Rahimian
    Hamid Mohammad Soryan Reihanpour
    Ahmadreza Talebian
All of them except Noshad Alamiyan have Islamic overtones to either their first or last names so I doubt they are Armenian. As for Noshad, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noshad_Alamian so I don't think he's Armenian.

Which is pretty awesome when you consider that Turkey has no medals. Now we either need to get 2 more bronzes, or one more silver, or a gold to beat Azerbaijan in the rankings

Injured Armenian weightlifter to be back from London on Jul. 29

Armenia’s Olympic weightlifter, Tigran Martirosyan, is returning from London on Sunday.

The sportsman. who was earlier reported to have suffered a back injury during a training session, will not participate in 2012 Olympic Games.

Sources close to Martirosyan have told ArmSport.am that the sportsman (weight class: 77kg.) lifted very heavy bars in Russia’s Podolsk city, while preparing for a new world record. The doctors treating the weightlifter have said his complete recovery will be impossible within a short time period.

Martirosyan was declared a world champion in the 2010 World Cup held in Turkey’s Antalia resprt. He thus became the first ever Armenian weightlifter to win a gold medal in a male tournament.
