Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

    Re: Sochi

I don't think a video entitled "Sochi's indigenous on the sidelines" is off-topic.

      Re: Sochi

This thread is about the Olympics not about genocide. Notice it is under the sports section and not the genocide section. I was hoping to see the opening ceremonies but they were not televised live in USA. Does anyone know what channel will televise it tonight?
      Hayastan or Bust.

        Lame copout.

Your choice for the thread title was "Sochi," which means that what I've posted is within the scope of the title and, I would argue, of the subforum.

Well it appears the whole world aired the opening ceremonies live except the USA I guess they were too busy destabilizing Ukraine. Hope to catch on delay tonight.

Well, this forum actually assimilated another one that was dedicated exclusively to Armenian Genocide discussion (used to be armeniangenocide.com) so...

You enjoy talking about East-West tensions, American neo-fascism, and Western bias so much (I mean, you did it in your first post in this thread and in the post prior to this one), so one might say this thread was politicized from the get-go.

                Re: Sochi

Every single member of the Armenian delegation to the Sochi Olympics is either born in Armenian or ethnic Armenian. The Armenian roster includes: Sergey Mikayelyan (birthplace: Russia), Arman Serebrakian (birthplace: USA), Katya Galstyan (birthplace: Armenia), and Artur Yeghoyan (birthplace: Armenia). On the other hand, it is fascinating and noteworthy that not even a single athlete of the Azerbaijan's Olympic delegation is born in Azerbaijan or is of Azeri ethnic origin. Below is a detailed list:

Gaia Bassani Antivari (born July 8, 1978 in Italy) [Italian] is an alpine skier who competed for Azerbaijan at the 2010 Winter Olympics. She previously competed for the Caribbean nation of Grenada, and attempted to compete for them at the 2002 Winter Olympics. However she couldn't as the GOA did not submit paperwork.

Patrick Brachner (born January 7, 1992 in Austria) [Austrian] is an alpine skier who now represents Azerbaijan. He will compete for Azerbaijan at the 2014 Winter Olympics in the slalom and giant slalom. Brachner was also selected to carry the Azerbaijani flag during the opening ceremony.

Alexei Alexandrovich Sitnikov (born May 23, 1986 in Russia) [Russian] is an ice dancer. Competing for Azerbaijan with Julia Zlobina (born June 28, 1989 in Russia) [Russian]. They have placed as high as sixth at the European Championships and have qualified for the 2014 Winter Olympics.

                  Starts at about 6:30.

Around the 30 minute mark, he invokes the Armenian Genocide to deny the Circassian one and I had to stop watching.
Yes, pretty vile stuff. What a xxxxroach Migranyan must be. Though he doesn't really evoke the Armenian Genocide to deny the Circassian one, he was talking about it in the context of the post WW2 Armenian migration to Armenia (which is way too obscure an event for any viewer to know about) and so mentions the AG in that context.

However, for a lot of his responses he could be a Turk talking about Armenians and denying the Armenian genocide. Word-for-word, excuse-for-excuse, lie-for-lie, racist abuse for racist abuse - astonishingly identical.

Of course, tell a Circassian about how they murdered tens of thousands of Armenians during the Armenian genocide (and their fanatics in Syria were the worst of the lot, being used by the Turks as substitutes for Kurds and "out-Kurded" the Kurds in their bloodthirsty viciousness) and we will get them denying that piece of their history in exactly the same way as Migranyan is doing for Russian history. Either that, or they will backtrack on their position of their being one simgle Circasian nation and become anxious to mention that there are lots of different ethnic groups and that the ones who did it were just from a few select ethnic groups.

But the counterargument to that would be that unlike Western countries, countries like Russia and Azerbaijan are a lot less developed, and have a lot of basic needs yet to be covered. Moreover, no matter the amount of cash at hand, such spending is only possible in places like China, Russia, and Azerbaijan were dissent is not very easy, and people are less inclined to speak out about perceived wrongdoings by their government.

Ya, as a kid growing up in USA, we were taught that Russia used propaganda but we Americans were honest, straight dealers.
