Yah I was a bit disappointed with Argentina today ... they are starting to look like Italians out there taking dives and falling down with just a tap on their shoulders (and sometimes not even that). I would love to see Germany move on though. Actually I want them to take it all!
Mexico is definitely not a pushover. They might not be the highest calibre team, but they are definitely gatekeepers. Anyone who overlooks Mexico, as Iran did, will find out.
However, Argentina's performance was a bit more lackluster than expected. That does not mean that Argentina sucks. Styles make fights and particular team match ups create different potentials in different teams. It's like Italy vs USA.
exactly... Argentina had no choice but to resort to wearing down the Mexicans. The whole game was a psychological battle to break the solid defenses and equal possessions of the game. Mexico knows Argentina well in soccer, and so there were no surprises. It was a deadlock because no one wanted to compromise their overall energy in the game.
Argentina and Mexico are of a similar flavour in soccer, and so they cancelled most of the aces up eachothers' sleaves out. I doubt the same will occur during the match against Germany.
Besides, Germany can't do anything against a team with a solid defense, look at what happened against Poland. Argentina has a very well rounded team, very strategically consciousious and adaptable. We'll see how the match goes.
