  • Zidane's Incident At The World Cup

Since both players refused to comment on the incident, there are various allegations about what led to Zidane's violent outburst. His agent, Alain Migliaccio has claimed that a "very serious" comment by Materazzi provoked the attack. Reportedly, the deaf forensic lip-reader Jessica Rees was employed to analyze the video sequences with the help of an Italian translator. According to these reports, Materazzi spoke in Italian - a language understood by Zidane due to his time spent with Juventus F.C. - and first told him: "Hold on, wait, that one's not for a nigger like you." As the players walked forward, Materazzi allegedly said: "We all know you are the son of a terrorist whore." Then, just before the headbutt, he was seen saying: "So just fuck off." According to Brazilian TV Rede Globo, a lip-reader claimed that Materazzi twice called Zidane's sister a prostitute. Earlier claims about Materazzi having called his opponent a "dirty terrorist" have been denied by Materazzi, who reportedly said: "It is absolutely not true, I did not call him a terrorist. I'm ignorant. I don't even know what the word means."

This isn't a 100% sure, and they believe the full truth will be revealed later this week, but I'm sure it was something along these lines. Materazzi is a bitch for saying what he did, but Zidane shouldn't have what he did. If it was a normal game, I would've done the same, maybe more. But a lot was depending on this game, and it was his last, so no matter what, he shouldn't have done anything. Materazzi ran his mouth thinking nothing could happen, but something did happen. How could you agree with someone who calls himself ignorant? France deserved the win. Materazzi deserved the hit. Zidane is still a legend. End of story.

He should have connected with his jaw, not his chest, that dirty rat of player Materazzi deserved a shattered jaw. Search Zidane and Materazzi in youtube and watch the videos, one is simply one of the greatest, most graceful players to have walked the field and the other is one of the dirtiest.

      That is all.

            Hey, hey. He said it!

Zidane is a family friend of mine. I wonder what he'll have to say when I go to France in 2 weeks.

here's an animated pic representing Zidane's action:

in my opinion bcoz of this act, Zidane did not deserve to be announced the best player in the World Cup ... FIFA is making meetings to decide about taking the award from Zidane... donno if they reached an agreement...

How Do You Feel About Zizou?

Hello, I'm new to this forum.

I just wanted to get everyone's thoughts on the Zizou incident. Do you think people will only remember him for the famous head-butt? I hope not. Even though what he did was wrong, I still feel so bad that he had to end his career like this. It's so sad.

Re: How Do You Feel About Zizou?

He made the choice ... I don't feel bad for him at all. I think they should take his world cup earnings (from the final) and the golden ball away from him. Other than that, if he comes back to play, he should be suspended for a while both from international and club level play.

Will he be remembered only for this headbutt? I guess only by those who only know him from his head butt. To the rest of us who know soccer, he'll be remembered for the player that he was. Of course each person will remember him differently.
                  this post = teh win.

I think a lot of people who don't really follow Soccer, or know anything about great players such as Zidane, will, sadly, remember him only for this. You know how some people only watch Football for the Superbowl? Well, a lot of people were watching this World Cup without knowing much about Soccer. Those type of people will only remember Zidane as the guy who head-butted Materazzi, and got a red card. However, I don't think he'll go down as a man like that. He's a legend, and will always be remembered as one of the greatest men who played this sport.
