Re: Zidane's Incident At The World Cup

Well Zidane like a gazelle just charged when provoked. Not a smart move but I guess he was also trying to make a statement by confronting the stereotype about the French since the last world war being "pansies and sissies." And he just displayed how well a Frenchman can get warm blooded as well, even more warm than your typical "Italian" if his chain was yanked hard enough.

His agent, Alain Migliaccio has claimed that a "very serious" comment by Materazzi provoked the attack. Reportedly, the deaf forensic lip-reader Jessica Rees was employed to analyze the video sequences with the help of an Italian translator. According to these reports, Materazzi spoke in Italian - a language understood by Zidane due to his time spent with Juventus F.C. - and first told him: "Hold on, wait, that one's not for a nigger like you." As the players walked forward, Materazzi allegedly said: "We all know you are the son of a terrorist whore." Then, just before the headbutt, he was seen saying: "So just fuck off." According to Brazilian TV Rede Globo, a lip-reader claimed that Materazzi twice called Zidane's sister a prostitute. Earlier claims about Materazzi having called his opponent a "dirty terrorist" have been denied by Materazzi, who reportedly said: "It is absolutely not true, I did not call him a terrorist. I'm ignorant. I don't even know what the word means."

This isn't a 100% sure, and they believe the full truth will be revealed later this week, but I'm sure it was something along these lines. Materazzi is a bitch for saying what he did, but Zidane shouldn't have what he did. If it was a normal game, I would've done the same, maybe more. But a lot was depending on this game, and it was his last, so no matter what, he shouldn't have done anything. Materazzi ran his mouth thinking nothing could happen, but something did happen. How could you agree with someone who calls himself ignorant? France deserved the win. Materazzi deserved the hit. Zidane is still a legend. End of story.
That is not true. Both players though not simultaneously, after the World Cup had their own two-cents to put in and share their reasons and apologetic remarks from the Italian player to Zidane for defaming his family etc. These articles, one after the other, were posted on msn's home page the following days after Zidane explained his action in a live conference.

Right, I apologize for not making this clear, good looking out for accuracy. I meant that HE IS AN ALGERIAN FROM FRANCE of that Arab descent that was once influxing there on the French Plateau but I mean NATIONALLY, he is considered "French." But yes Zidane is of Algerian descent playing for France.

            FIFA investigation

On 11 July 2006, FIFA announced plans to open a disciplinary investigation to clarify the circumstances surrounding the Zidane incident. It also affirmed the legality of referee Horacio Elizondo's decision to send Zidane off, rejecting claims that fourth official Luis Medina Cantalejo had relied on video transmission before informing Elizondo about Zidane's misconduct, which would have been illegal.

Italian newspaper La Repubblica reported that FIFA president Joseph Blatter had mentioned the possibility of Zidane being stripped of the Golden Ball award. Either way they did redeem themselves all too well, humbly.

FIFA also opened disciplinary proceedings against Materazzi on 13 July 2006 in light of Zidane's statement about having been repeatedly provoked by prior to the incident. As part of the investigation, both players were summoned to attend a face-to-face hearing before the Committee.

On 20 July 2006, FIFA concluded its hearings and handed down punishments against both Zidane and Materazzi. Zidane received a three-game match ban and a CHF7500 fine, while Materazzi was issued a CHF5000 fine and a two-match ban. In light of Zidane's retirement from football, he will serve three days community service on FIFA's behalf. FIFA further addressed the insult in question by saying: "In their statements, both players stressed that Materazzi's comments had been defamatory but not of a racist nature."

That all depends on how you wish to define that. And yes, genius, Berbs still= a different branch of Arabs.

Arabs with their own nations who more or less live with diversity nowadays, are as follows:

                -Iraq
-All of the Saudi Arabia and Saudi Arabian peninsula countries
                -Kuwait
                -Jordan
-All of northern African coastal countries which includes Tunisia and Algeria
                -Syria
                -Lebanon
