I think this is the point. There is some level of disagreement and childish mockery that goes on, that is okay, but when it reaches a level of rampant insults whereby the flow and coherence of threads is diluted and diverted, whereby we forget just what the purpose of the thread was, whereby some users actually threaten other users, where it becomes a personal attack on who can come up with better character assassinations, then there needs to be something to clean it up.

I agree with you that at times things get too much out of control but if you take a close look at the thread in question that you had closed ( Russian-Armenian relations), you will notice that the Russian thread is one of the cleanest in this forum and it has been up, apparently for a few years, has passed well over 120 pages and nothing wrong (no violation of the rules) had happened there until very recently… So what went wrong? A quick look at the last few pages will tell you why
