    Re: Reputation?

Yes, your reputation will grow and it will add a green box to your reputation. If you get negative reps and the number drops below 0, you will get a red box.

In other forums, there are thousands of active users so there is always so much going on. We don't even use it for contributions, we simply use it as a tool to communicate. When a member gets a new avatar, another post will reply by saying, "Nice avy!"

Our reps on other forums reach a couple hundred thousand or more. It's fun once there are more active posters. Regular posters can't see who repped them so be sure to leave a name.

        Re: Reputation?

btw people, users have different weights given to their opinions by how long they've been members, status, and post count. Maybe even their reputations? I'd have to check on that one. But I've noticed that where someone's vote may carry 0 or 1 point, others opinions carry 10 points in either direction.

Something to be aware of, particularly if you vote negative for a stupid reason. When you get a negative vote back it could subtract 10x for you than your neg vote did for them.

This explains a lot. I was wondering how I went from +11 to -8 in the mater of a day. It seems a poster with say, over 17,000 posts, zapped me.

When you fight authority authority always wins.

It's not just authority. Non-moderators who are long-time members w/ relatively high post counts can be and are given just as much weight.

Understood, but I stand by my deduction.

Certainly... it is true in this case.
However I was just pointing out that it is not only authority who would win that fight.

                  Re: Reputation?

From the reps I have received, all of the people who left it missed the point.

You have to (well, you don't have to) leave a comment. Otherwise, there's really no point to it; unless it's a negative rep, then in that case nobody really likes you anyway.

Don't be so catty One-Way...and take your "positive" rep with a grain of salt. Few people here will zap a moderator that has accumulated more than four thousand posts.

This isn't the Ankap thread, but then again, what am I telling you for?

I'm simply saying reps are meaningless without comments.
