Private Lounge Section

I made this proposal to Siggie, and was wondering to get some feedback from users here. What do you all think of creating a private lounge, where established members would be able to post, but it would not be visible to visitors or anybody that doesn't have access. Many forums have such lounges. Topics could revolve around every day life, armenian community, events, etc. Given high amount of Azeri visitors to this site, it would be a good place to also have discussions we don't want Azeris to read. To get access to the lounge you would need 'x' amount of posts. It wouldn't be very difficult to get access.

Yeah but 5 years is still pretty long for a forum. Or maybe you don't want me personally in such a private lounge (if it really does exist)...

Personally, I'm not inclined to discuss my personal life with anyone on this forum whom I haven't already befriended to some degree. The folks that I frequently become engaged in discussion with are not exactly what I'd call tolerant or free-thinking. We've seen what happens to new members here who come and ask for advice on personal matters. They're not exactly welcomed and offered a supportive ear. Instead they're met with ridicule and vitriol; until that changes, I don't think any lounge of the kind will be successful at all.

I don't see how new members here are ridiculed. Many new members have come and we have been supportive. There have been some trolls that have made stupid threads (like that Persian guy a while back) and those kind of people we have not welcomed kindly of course. I'm rather tolerant in terms of willing to discuss a range of issues with people here, but in addition to that I have my own personal values, like everybody else.

Well, I never in my life had come across an Armenian Lesbian, and given it was her first post, I was highly suspicious of her being a troll. I've seen how Turks troll Armenian pages/forums often...and it reminded me of it.

Only problem about the private area is that it might lessen posting in public areas of the forum and not become helpful?
