There are just some topics that can't be discussed without people getting pissed and calling names and fighting, aren't there? From the evidence in here alone, I'd almost Armenians are akin to the Chinese (Edit: By the way, that was a joke). You remind me of those tapes they show sometimes of debates in the Taiwanese senate when the discussion breaks down and the senators start throwing chairs at each other and brawls break out. I think you've had a good enough explanation of why that first thread was closed. It's clear that the only person learning anything in that thread was Armobarbi anyway. The rest of you have your opinions and they aren't going to change.

You say that is if its the only topic where people have their minds set before they start discussing. That is 99% of threads in any given forum.

Sadly, people seem to care more about being right and how they look than about understanding their opposition's point of view or teaching someone else. Human nature I suppose?

Hey I thought I was trying to open up some folks eyes here. We all have common misperceptions that often aren't born out by scientific understanding. I posted links to official Anthropological statements to back up my points...and its not like I am a novice to this issue - I have a degree and I've been involved in civil rights/civil liberty issues for some time now. So yeah - I have a position - and I have issue with some folks who keep contending things that are just not scientifically supported - particualrly when they lead to rascism. Oh yeah - I understand the "opposition's point of view" all to well...and also know that for some its just that they haven't been exposed to the facts - so I was doing a service - the way I see it...

I am happy to learn new things, but I can do that without being told that I am wrong. I am always open to information. As long as you have good intentions.
