Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Don't just spit poison and run away. Show us instead your high intellect and open a thread dedicated to Armenian poets and make contributions there for the benefit of your fellow Armenians.

Well, all my contributions are there "for the benefit of my fellow Armenians", enger.
But to be honest, I am really starting to get tired "of my fellow Armenians", including "true nationalists", as it appears my contributions are nothing more than a total waste of time and energy.

Poor baby. Perhaps you should post a letter of complaint about your "fellow Armenians" and post it on www.hetq.am for all the world to see.
That seems to be the trend among "false nationalists" (especially the self-professed ones), when their feelings get hurt.

Calm down enger. There is no need to cast dispersions.

A recent article related to the subject of this thread...After reading it, it makes you wonder why this French-Armenian Entrepreneur couldn't wait until after the February elections to post his letter.

I believe that you mean well, axel. And I don't think that your contributions are "waste of time and energy". So, don't give up and run. Stay and keep contributiung.

BUT first, please A) Understand the severity of the danger presently facing our country. Understand that there are forces who pray (and pay) to see Armenians kill eachother, and B) Don't attack good hearted, patriotic people like crusader1492, because that is exactly what our enemies want.

Like I stated in my last post, I found out who this "Armen" is. I knew of him while I was in Shushi. Even back then people were warning me about him. Two close disporan friends of mine know him well - personally. The character in question is problematic and strange, according to their account. Apparently, the idiot even tried to get into politics there... Judging from Armen's behavior/rhetoric he seems to be very troublesome.

I know you are an intelligent person, Axel. All you have to do now is add objectivity and reason to your intelligence. Armenia/Artsakh and the Caucasus is not western Europe. If "his feelings have changed" then it's his misconceptions, misunderstandings and immaturity at fault. There is also a big personal factor in this that you are not taking into consideration. If it matters to you, I know two families from the New York area and one from Boston that have started businesses in Artsakh, without serious problems - relatively speaking of course.

Armenia is not the diaspora's laboratory experiment.

Frankly, we don't need Armenians like this Armen character in Armenia or Artsakh. These troubled diasporans should stay in their "law abiding" nations of residence and allow the Armenian Republic to 'evolve' and 'progress' naturally.

It seems that you know very little about me which does not prevent you from making wild assumptions. This is not the first one in this thread.
It seems that you are assuming too much. The Armenian world is quite small

There is absolutely no reason why the theme of corruption should be left to Soros&co sponsored opposition. This is in fact their main argument. Not addressing it allows them to prosper. Such a position cannot be justified politically speaking unless the regime is entirely corrupt itself. And if it is, it is acting against national interests, period.
It has to do with approach/method and, at times, intent. Most of the approaches I have seen in 'fighting corruption' are counter-productive and irrational. And some times the intents have been suspicious. Nevertheless, often times corruption in nations are gradually phased-out as economic stability and peace are maintained. The Armenian nations has been continuously destroyed for a thousand years. What's more, Armenia today is located in perhaps the most dangerous and unstable environment in the world. We have had the centuries long subjugation, the genocide, Bolshevism, Soviet collapse, etc...

The problems derived from the aforementioned aspects of Armenian historiography cannot be remedied in a matter of years, often times it will take generations of stability and progress to fix these problem. Europe is a perfect example of this.

Yes, we should all voice our concerns about corruption and about various other ailments of our nation. However, let's do so responsibly, objectively and let's take into serious consideration all the social/political factors that effect our nation. Sadly, our anti-corruption champions don't take these nuances of our national reality very seriously and, as a result, end up making the already bad situation worst. Just take a look at the Hetq discussion, it has become an anti-Armenia, anti-Artsakh, anti-Hayastantsi, anti-diaspora, anti-government hate fest. Simply disgusting. This is 'not' how one can have a positive impact on the nation.

So, ask yourself this question: What has Armen's psychological problems has gotten us? Simply, this upsetting comment from a native Armenian:

Axpars [derogatory term for diasporan Armenia], food bought on your "humanitarian" $$ will be womitted. Roads paved on your "donations" will be redone. Used cloths sent to our children will be burned.
You you see how approach and method have a great effect on the matter?

Nevertheless, even with all of Armenia's current socio-political problems the Armenian Republic is doing much-much better than other comparable nations who have even milder geopolitical/sociopolitical problems. There is clear progress within all spectrum of the Armenian republic. Against all odds, the overall situation in Armenia is improving. And the last thing we need now is a "western inspired" revolution...

Since I cannot place any hope in the political maturity of Armenians, I expect the Armenian authorities to crack down hard on the troublesome masses.

And wake up, there is no such thing as true democracy or justice anywhere on earth. Those with power essentially create the 'illusion' of justice and democracy towards political purposes. And this illusion of democracy and justice only exists, in various degrees, within certain parts of the world.

"Those in possession of absolute power can not only prophesy and make their prophecies come true, but they can also lie and make their lies come true," Hoffer

Armenians, as a collective people, are 'not' ready to attempt democracy. God forbid.

Well no I am in fact much dumber than you may imagine.
I know you are very intelligent and a well read young man. But I see you have some emotional problems. It's natural, we are human beings, all of us have 'emotional' issues. But try not to let your feelings/emotions to get in the way of your reason and objectivity.

                  "domestic garbage"
Armenians who don't have a healthy comprehension of what it means to be an Armenian...

Armenians who don't understand the concept of the fatherland/motherland...

Armenians who may be proud diasporans but hold no connections to the homeland...

Armenians who have hate towards Armenians from different regions...

                  Armenians who are materialistic...

                  Armenians who are ignorant...

                  Armenians who are selfish/egotistical...

                  Armenians who are self-hating...

                  Armenians who are assimilated...

                  etc...

In my opinion, the above characteristics describe perhaps a majority of Armenians alive today. These people are the "garbage" of our nation. In other words, since they are of no good use to the Armenian nation, they are essentially waste products. And allowing any kind of a waste product to accumulate, without getting rid of it, is bad for the overall health of any given society.

Re: "Harsh reality" (HR) or "Armenian National Interest"(ANI)???

I posted this in Hetq as well: http://www.hetq.am/eng/karabakh/7439/

Armenia is not the diaspora's laboratory experiment. Frankly, we don't need Armenians like this Armen character in Armenia or in Artsakh. These troubled diasporans should stay in their "law abiding" nations of residence and allow the Armenian Republic to 'evolve' and 'progress' naturally.

And all these 'English language' websites and foreign organizations need to get shutdown by the authorities. These organizations in question do 'not' serve the interests of the Armenian Republic, they simply serve the geopolitical interests of Washington DC. Which reminds me of a very applicable comment made by Vladimir Putin recently in the Times Magazine interview:

Interviewer Adi Ignatius - "We began by asking him [Putin] why the Russian election was not more open and why opposition leader and former chess champion Gary Kasparov was arrested."

Vladimir Putin - "Well, what do you think? Why did Mr. Kasparov, when arrested, speak English rather than Russian? Think about it... Before everything, the whole thrust of this thing was directed towards other countries rather than the Russian people. And when a person works the crowds of another nation rather than the Russian nation it tell you something..."

I reiterate: All these dubious organizations in the Armenian Republic need to get shutdown - for they are terminal cancers within our fledgling nation. And troublesome individuals such as Onnik Krikorian, Tony Halpin, John Hugues, Van Krikorian, Richard Kirakosyan, Levon Ter Petrosian & company and many other similar characters need to be expelled from our republic.
