Perhaps, but as long as one has unconditional love for Armenia, this disillusionment will not translate into actions that do damage to the state.

Re: "Harsh reality" (HR) or "Armenian National Interest"(ANI)???

Has anyone here been following the 'debate' in Hetq?

Take a look at this proud diasporan filth:

      Ashot Berberian
After reading the story and the comments, I became even more convinced that, Diaspora should fight to get back the fatherland from Turkey, name Ani the capital, and completely forget about the "Russian Post". Then we would have Mt. Ararat on our land ....... Furthurmore all Russian worshipers will tear down their churches, burn Armenian books, and deport all unest and intelligent people to Siberia, hopefully by then their loyalty to Mother Russia will be sealed on their foreheads. Death to all Communists!!!! and corrupted Clans...

That little portion of Armenia you are in, was an Iranian velaiet (gavar) for over 450 years, so to me you are the real Diasporan, the Armenian lands are still in occupation. And as far as the time, "it is secret" since a well known fact is that the Russians and the Turks are unionists. Turkey is celebrating TURKISH CULTURAL YEAR IN MOSCOW!!!! (so you know) Too bad you guys do not have the matching flags anymore...
And this brilliant "banker" who in 1996 was expecting Armenia to become a second Switzerland:

      Richard E. Cheblakian

Armenia [in 1996] had the chance to become the SECOND Switzerland[in the Caucasus] servicing the financial services needs of millions of diaspora Armenians with deposits in excess of $50 billion, and instead what has Armenia achieved? Corruption, Corruption, Corruption, etc. I am a banker and visited the Central Bank of Armenia in 1996 and met the top brass, but they just were not interested to learng anything - backward Soviet era officers who thought they knew everything whereas in actual fact they probably knew very little about their profession... Regarding your comment on xxxs and Israel you probably have not been to this country - it is a 100% democracy and that's one reason why it is so wealthy and a military power horse enbedded and surrounded by 150+ million enemies.

Incidentally, the half-Jew French Armenian's story that started this mess has taken an interesting turn. Apparently, mayor's office in the town of Shushi has stated that they are preparing a case against Armen to prove that he operated illegally and that Armen owes a lot of money to the region's tax collection agency (see following source). The officials have promised to make the case public shortly. According to two sources of mine who know this Armen personally, this Armen character is said to be a trouble maker and quite strange. Just the fact that he attempted to get involved into politics, in Artsakh nonetheless, is enough in my opinion to reveal the kind of mental problems he must be suffering from.

You, he was referring to you

I just got to know the story... Wow, it's rather a shout-out match between Spyurkahavs and the native Armenians… It's sad to see this kind of divisions and nonsensical debates whether it's Hayastantsis vs. Akhpars or western Armenian vs. eastern Armenian.

The problem with Armenians is that we are generally an anhamper whiny bunch who want drastic changes in drastic measures, in all fields and in 'no' time without taking into consideration the country's @nthanur iravijak@.

In any case, as a Daisporan Armenian, now I can understand more the anger of some of the native Armenians towards Diasporan "businessmen" ( even though I do not approve of part of their attitude) but it's a bit their fault too in my opinion. They have a little bit too much regard and respect for Spyurkahais especially worthless Amerikahais and Fransahais who do not deserve a bit of it in my opinion.
( My words are not a disrespect to the decent Amerikahais or Fransahais crowd who constitute the minority perhaps. )

Oh just your comments like "Anatolian goat" when you get into heated exchanges. Always made me chuckle. Anyway, that "Switzerland" comment made by Richard I've heard before. I'd love to see just what Switzerland would look like if she came to war with Austria and under economic blockade from France and Italy.

You see, this is what I don't understand. How do these people think? You, in your mid 20s (most probably), are able to reveal more 'insight' and more 'wisdom' than a middle-aged "banker." What is wrong with these folk? What planet do these people live on?

So... you liked my "Anatolian Goat" comment, eh

Sad, but it is fully understandable why there are such divisions between us. True Armenians are a tiny minority in this world. Most Armenians are a product of their environment, be it USA, Russia, Europe, Middle East, Caucasus, etc...

Precisely Lucin jan. Armenians want everything and they want it - yesterday. There is a severe lack of objectivity and historical perspective within population of our nation. My comment about Skahar's insight and wisdom at such a young age fully applies to you as well.

I agree. I have always said Amerikahavs, with all their money, ignorance and overinflated egos, could be a serious liability for the Armenian state if left unchecked. Sadly, these types of troubled/problematic spyurkahavs in Armenia make it difficult for the good diasporans there. That troublesome half-Jew Armen is an example of this. None of what I am saying, however, is meant to turn a blind eye to the corruption and disorder that generally exists in Armenia.

                And welcome back

Concerned Armenian, what's wrong with Richard Kirakosian's presence in the RoA?

                  And is Oliver really half-Hrya?

Please, you can call me Armenian...

Based on my observations of the comments/writings of this "Washington Based Political Analyst" and the kind of people he associates with, this Richard Kirakosian character is most probably working for the US State Department, in some capacity. He is essentially a representative of US interests within our community. This fact is not obvious because at face value his work seems to be pro-Armenian. However, once you start reading between the lines of his "political analysis" you see some anti-Russian and anti-Iranian sentiments, the kind of talk that is not entirely in line with Armenian interests.

                    And is Oliver really half-Hrya?
Yes. But there is very little chance that he is may be working for foreign intelligence services. I happen to have two very close friends, both diasporan Armenians, who have known him personally in Shushi.

Armenian, I gave up on explaining to Armenians and people in general that the backbone of a economy is the faith in its growth. If you live in a era where money is the prime motivator then, abosolutly, the only driving forece will be the belief in the reality or illusion that returns on investments can be earned. The very action of stating when a recession will occur manifests into a catalyst for recession. Markets exists because people have a faith in them. Regardless of how the economy grows, in the end, the economy is growing. And there exists no difference between the 1% of the wealthy in Armenia versus the 1% in the United States, capitalism is, essentially, the motive behind the corruption. Corruption exists because individuals in power are thinking like capitalist, it has no connection to Soviet ideology. People generally forget about the corruption in the United States, it didn't change overnight.

By the way, I don't trust half Hriyas, its in their kharown to screw over the gentile. The kharown is political in spirit. And I don't trust the French nor the English, in fact, I don't trust any Russian or Iranian, likewise, I don't think they trust Armenians. Alliances are based on interests, to debate this very absolute of politics is just idiotic, I don't see why they these morons think the Armenians in Armenia are motivated by anything other then their own interests. The reality is that the United States and Europe are not reliable allies due to geography and historically, Armenians put their faith in these powers only to be screwed in the process and blah blah ... it has been explained before.

I just can't understand why they expect the "red carpet treatment" from Armenians in Armenia and the halfwitt that wanted to "reconquer" Western Armenia, I, welcome it. Lets see you put your money where your mouth is. It is just funny how some in Diaspora expect anyone in Armenia to take them seriously? I have family there and I can tell you, they look at me as a foreigner, its only natural, you gotta go along at their level even if it means changing because the reality is they live in Armenia and you don't, live with it.
