Re: Armenia: Future Projects and Developments

If you people like the city in some other shape ... u know you can buy a property there then talk what is alright and what is not . im sick of your complains ,most of you haven't been in Armenia for long time ago....and most of you fail to see that is now the city is under construction...

My opinion is what ever they are building let them do it we need everything is new , from the pics i liked all of them.

I agree about Northern Avenue. I hate it even more than it looks like an urban desert. Where are all the trees? They can place them all along that long Northern Avenue stroll but they've left it empty...

yes Armenia needs lots of new buildings but that doesn't mean they can't be beautiful

For instance St. Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral is actually quite ugly for the amount of work that went into it. It holds none of the beauty or intricacy of older Armenian churches.

And we are free to say what we want about it even if we are not there, just like we are allowed to comment on the politics of Armenia even though we don't live there

And by your same standards, what right have you to praise these buildings since you also do not live there?

If you want to ask what those who live in Yerevan think, perhaps you should ask the people who were thrown out of their homes in central Yerevan to make way for these monstrosities, and given compensation that was so small that not only were they unable to buy one of these new properties, they couldn't even afford to buy some old soviet-period flat in the suburbs.

Would there be anywhere for trees to actually take root and grow - aren't there underground car parks and such like underneath the street, all along its length? Though maybe smaller trees in large pots could be placed there.

I was thinking of the latter. You're right on an underground parking being located just under (that I think is STILL not open).

They already made Yerevan a desert during Levon's time.

this is the kind of architechture armenia should try and emulate. We don't need insanely tall or flashy skyscrappers, just make beautiful buildngs. Also notice how the bricks and concrete in the two buildings aren't grey... there is so much grey in yerevan, it's one of the things that makes even buildings like the opera house look rather drab

I agree with Urmistake. Shut the hell up with all of the negitive comments. Armenians need to stop complaining about every damn thing, and offer some solutions instead. To top it all off we have that poz of a cat making his usual stupid comments about issues that do and never will pertain to him.
For the first time in more than 600 years, Armenia is free and independent, and we are therefore obligated
to place our national interests ahead of our personal gains or aspirations.

What a crap! What a bunch of ugly buildings, your taste is really bad. Haha, if there is something that does not MASH well within Yerevan, it's these buildings, especially the second with bricks, tops them all! Most of the buildings being build today in Yerevan at least use Armenian stones and colours which are common in Yerevan.

Yerevan is one of the most beautiful cities I have seen, the streets, the atmosphere, the surroundings, the people.. we can really be proud.
