Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!


2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.

    Armenia: Future Projects and Developments

    Post pics of any new buildings (2010-present), and any pics of plans for development or things currently in development


    Lake Side Resorts, will be a hotel/entertainment resort set around a man made lake, located near Yegvard, Armenia. It will have Ararat as a backdrop with five smaller 4-5 star hotel resorts on the other side of the lake.

    It's supposed to have restaurants, shops and boutiques, galleries, pools and water parks, fitness and sports club, a concert hall, exhibition center casinos, arcades, playgrounds and daycare for children, business and conference centers spas, mountain touring and wind surfing, and a ski resort on the mountains



    The government is overseeing the project and MGM is a major investor.

    There's a video which can be viewed in English, Armenian, or Russian on their site, explaining the plan in further details and how they plan for the resort to make money, etc. It's planned to be finished by the end of 2014.

    This is a proposed multi purpose skyscraper(offices, residences, and hotel are located in each tower) designed by Vahan Misakyan for Yerevan

    I can't see this building in the center of Yerevan next to the older buildings, if they do go through with it, I hope it would be like Paris, where all the new skyscrapers are set in a different part of the city than the historical buildings

          The first two are really cool projects but they are most likely very expensive and I doubt that they will be built. I hope I a wrong though, I'd love to visit these places if they are constructed.

          to place our national interests ahead of our personal gains or aspirations.

            The second one wasn't chosen, it was for a competition who would build the intercontinental hotel in Yerevan, in the area where the former student complex stood. A japanese architect one, and construction has already begun. Also a nice building.

            The construction on the first one has "officially" begun, but I doubt it. If so, I would recommend people to buy land near the resort, as it is extremely cheap now.

              The new airport is going to be really nice. Already the arrival terminal is very nice, modern, clean, except for construction outside. The old Soviet terminal is falling apart, and kind of depressing honestly to go through.

                I may have spoke too soon in my previous comment. I e-mailed the organization that is going to construct the first project, and below is a copy of the message I sent and the reply I received.

                Dear ______, thanks for writing to us.


                Currently the project is in the final step of its implementation. The project has been evaluated by The Innovation Group with very positive results, endorsed by the President, Prime Minister, the National Assembly (Parliament), The Public Council and many others. We are starting the Raising Public


                Awareness campaign in Armenia. Number of major events have been organized in that regard by the Public Council of Armenia. The goal of this campaign is to turn the project into a National initiative and change the mentality of Armenian investors worldwide, who can not finance the project separately and are not familiar or used to the idea of doing it together, by forming a National Corporation and employing professional corporate governance for it.


                World economic crisis had change the mentality of smaller investors. However, these size of construction projects are wiser to start during the crisis due to the lower costs of materials and labor, and finish it to be ready when the economy picks up people are ready to spend. This practice has been and is continuing to be the best approach employed by most successful entrepreneurs.


                Right now we are forming the interest list of investors, who want to participate in the share capital of the project. There is no need to invest any money at this stage, just expressing the willingness to participate will be enough. When the number of investors who want to participate, with their expressed investment amounts get to the $100 million USD amount, we will organize a general shareholder meeting, where details of the project and the company to be registered will be presented, discussed and voted. Only then the interested parties will need to come up with the capital to get their shares (stocks). The company will employ 100% transparent practices, ensured by a very professional group of employees (mainly from Diaspora) who will also need to be approved by the shareholders.


                If what you have heard so fur is raising your interest, please let me know and I'll send you the Investment Summary document. If for some reason you have lost your interest, I will still thank you for taking your time and inquiring about the project, which is much better then staying passive and just criticizing others who want to do something and improve their and others lives.

                  I hope this doesn't turn into the next Burj Khalifa because Armenia needs investment in other areas more crucially than a resort.

                    yes I agree, our investments should be aimed at more crucial sectors, rather than fancy hotels, that some rich Russians or Americans will go to.
