Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Do you know how the tuition and admission is going to work for the school. Is there anywhere I can find that information. I'm just interested in knowing how accessible it is going to be for kids from medium and lower income families.

    AMAZING PROJECT ALERT

    Tumo Center for Creative Technologies

I recommend everyone to visit www.tumo.org, and watch the (small) video on the bottom-right, you can enlarge it. Simply amazing, bravo to these modern-day Armenian patriots!

This is "Tumo Center" by Tumo Team on Vimeo, the home for high quality videos and the people who love them.

YEREVAN, Armenia, June 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Tumo Center for Creative Technologies announces a Grand Opening on Sunday, August 14, 2011. Serzh Sargsyan, President of the Republic of Armenia visited Tumo for a private tour on Tuesday, June 28, 2011. The Minister of Education and Science, Armen Ashotyan, and the Mayor of Yerevan, Karen Karapetyan, accompanied the President.

Tumo's initial program will introduce students, ages 12-18, to a professional level of instruction in animation, web development, video game design, and digital video/audio through extensive after-school programs, and as a part of the daily curricula of partner schools in Yerevan. Tumo is designed to serve over 1,000 students a day.

The seventy-five thousand square foot (7,000 square meter) facility, which occupies the first two floors of a modern building, and sits on fifty acres (20 hectares) of green land in the heart of Yerevan, will be dedicated to the creativity center. The campus is the creation of Sam and Sylva Simonian, both of Armenian origin, who currently reside in Dallas, Texas. Sam was a founder of Inet Technologies, a multi-million-dollar Internet monitoring/management company, based in Richardson, Texas.
As students' skills grow, they will earn points which will allow them to move up, as in a video game, to the center's upper levels, for more advanced instruction. The upper levels will also serve as an incubator for business start-ups–and will provide a level of real-world, hands-on experience unavailable in most educational facilities. Other specific programs of the center will serve to enhance the education of younger kids, university students, and the community.
"Creativity is a key component in the success of any endeavor," Sam says. "Kids attending Tumo are likely to be working in fields that don't even exist yet. But the skills, and creative ways of solving problems they'll learn at Tumo will serve them well as they make their own contributions to the world in the years ahead."
Students at Tumo will work on real-life creative projects, guided by industry professionals from some of the world's leading companies, like Pixar and Disney. Some of these creative pros will be teaching at the center, others will be linked to it from locations around the world, through the center's state-of-the-art communication technologies. Some Tumo programs will be available in English, as well as Armenian.
"Teamwork, communication, Internet literacy, analytical thinking, initiative—these are the skills that will be taught at Tumo," says Sylva Simonian. "Sure, the kids may come to learn how to create a video game, or build a better website—and have fun in the process—but they'll leave with so much more."

"Tumo will serve students in Armenia initially, but through summer workshops, computer camps, and other programs, we will also reach a broad international audience," says Marie Lou Papazian, Managing Director of Tumo. "The world is increasingly interconnected and dependent on sophisticated information and media technologies. We look forward to giving our kids the skills and experience they'll need to succeed in any field they choose, anywhere in the world."

The TUMO Center for Creative Technologies is a free-of-charge educational program that puts teens in charge of their own learning.
Technical Project Manager Nigel Sharp on TUMO:

My job is now the Technical Project Manager for the Tumo project, it’s a fantastic project on a fantastic scale, the impact this project may have on future generations of Armenians cannot be understated. We struggle with the basics like an office email system, yet we are designing a cutting edge technology centre which will put similar endeavors in Europe and America to shame, we are building something at least 10 years ahead of its time, and in Armenia the leap could almost be considered as the same jump from smoke signals to 3G communication.

Yerevan International Business Center and Hotel

Dizarh (a Bulgarian Architectural Firm) formulate an architectural concept of the International Business Center and Intercontinental Hotel in the mountains area at the center of Yerevan, Armenia.

The architectural concept of the International Business Center and Intercontinental Hotel appears as a prominent solution for the contemporary appearance of the central part of the city of Yerevan. The land on which the concept is developed takes an active part in the urbanisation resolution, communicating with the Armenian capital’s most impressive Republic square, by Teryan Street and Abovyan Street.

The Intercontinental Hotel building is designed as the dominant structure, with a height of over 100 m and 30 floors, according to the special requirements of the assignment. The lower body sits on the three underground levels and is levelled, while the upper section dominates with two bodies separated physically but communicating in composition. The business centre is also designed as two buildings with no direct link between them. The residential area is situated in the east part of the property in order to provide sunlight all day long.

The facade positioning allows not only penetrating sunlight, but also a visual contact with Yerevan and Mount Ararat. There are two residential complexes within each building. They are also oval shaped by plan, rising to a maximum of 8 floors. The residential area provides space for living and development of activities, which look to ensure better life and correct functioning.
