And again, this does not mean I do not want to see an independent Armenia, I see this as the best thing Armenia currently can do, taking into consideration our national self-interest. We need to strenghten our country as long as we have the support of Russia, for when the day will come Armenians will come to power who are stupid enough to 'oppose' Russia by which we will lose their support, or for when the day will come that stupid Russian leaders will come to power and do the same.

But hopefully (and the most probable), neither of those days we will witness. Russia was, is, and will remain our 'ally' in this cruel world.

Turkey is a second grade (third world) country by it’s military power, economy – (astronomical budget deficit), internal stability – (having at least 20 million Kurdish population that is growing with incredible birth rate) and with the image of being barbarian nation worldwide; that slaughtered and occupied the civilized nations lands; and soon or later will face criminal investigation under current international law, given the AG bills are accepted by the world parliaments.

Thus nothing except its geographical location and huge territory is favorable for them currently and yet they are fighting against the superpowers for their national interests fearlessly, they managed/forced to get their ally (US) permission to cooperate with Russia (the US de facto foe) in economic and political areas – they argued fearlessly with America and convinced that having big mutual economic projects with Russians will make them (Russians) vulnerable.

I’m sure you will object that the projects are favorable for US and EU too; I agree, but don’t you accept that Turkey will use them later on against Russians; to confront/hinder their awkward “bear politics” when it is needed for US and EU; note please that even Ukraine (Russian ally) forced by US and EU - does it. They are fortunate enough, during the last century, to get the Christian world permission and support to exterminate Armenian/Greek/etc “gyavurs”. They are not used making concessions to "gyavurs" regardless they are poor or rich.

US and EU tried to convince Turkey; in the PROTOCOL game, to open the borders and ease the world pressure on Turkish ally (US) in terms of accepting AG and making the justice to prevail, to make US claims look like that; they are the major defender of the democracy and justice worldwide . At the same time US and EU told Turkey that by opening the borders and making some minor concession on Artsakh issue; they will stop the AG acceptance worldwide and enjoy the Armenian lands forever. But it failed because Turks are not used giving away things; regardless they are big or minor.

Thus the week, second grade, Turks are strong in following their national interests and by playing games with Russians, letting US know that they can change their ally. Thus they enforced US take back their advice on opening borders and Artsakh, in order to prevent Turks to become Russian’s ally; as it is a very simple and strong reason for Turks to articulate and support Turkish national interests against their ally; which proved to be very useful tool for centuries.

Thus Turkey can confront superpower – US, Georgia – Russia (loosing only the territories that are not populated with Georgians. And becoming US ally they are allowed to promote their national interests at least in terms of economy) and defend their interests.

But we are “too week”; unlike the two above to reject Russian command on buying their expensive gas instead of the cheap Iranian one.

What if Armenia would make the fact known, loudly, worldwide? What will be the world reaction and the Russians answer?

I assume that Russia’s answer will be: “We didn’t know about it, the issue will be settled in no time, sorry, we are a faithful ally of Armenia”.

You are assuming there would be a world reaction. What on earth drives you to make such a assumption? The world didnt care enough to do aanything when we were getting slaughtered by the million so what on earth makes you think they will care and do anything when we are bullied? Why in hells name would Russia have the reaction you described even if there was some kind of a world wide reaction? Your thinking is exactly what will get us killed by assuming you have the support of the world when the world couldnt care less and spitting on the only country that protects you.

Dont make false statements Armenia do not get billions in military of economical aid from any one..They call them investments and if you cant see that if russia has interest in armenia mostly in the region..loosing armenia will not make any good for russia they will loose money and dont forget..
One of the reasons of CSTO is the big russias problem wich mostly comes from Caucasus..thats why they focus in aid of Belarus Kazakstan Armenia and maybe Ukraine..

Lack of political will from Armenia is the cause of still russias gas will not allow inflow of iranian one..and you all forgot that armenia buys the gas in its most cheap prise that no one else dose so stfu..

Even the aid that imperial russia send to armenia whose mostly compromised by russian-armenians..After 1915 Armenians went fighting turks in every wars they would involved Bulgaria Greece Lebanon France Americans atc..And that will be done for ever..

We are playing our cards and you dont see them...what a shame..

What a total nonsense. Turkey, a country thirty times larger than Armenia, having never been under Soviet Rule, supported by Israel and America for decades with billions of dollars and immense military aid, with a population of over 70 million, can not be compared to Armenia by any means. It is logical that they can have a more ‘independent’ policy.

You really need to read some history. In the territories which Georgia lost, hundreds of thousands of Georgians were living. Their country was totally destructed, their army (which their beloved US trained) was totally defeated and is weaker than ever, their country has fallen apart and has no bright future, and they are allowed to promote their national interest? Haha, what a laugh. What national interest? There is a dictatorship in Georgia, with the American-Saakashvili as a tiran, do you think the ‘country’ has a policy that is in the best interest of Georgia? No, wake up. It is only in the national interest of America and the West, and Saakashvili is their puppet.

The current regime has brought nothing good, I can fairly state that if Georgia had a policy like Armenia (pro-Europe, pro-American and Russia as strategic ally), they would not lose Abhkhazia and Ossetia as easily, they would have been richer, more prosperous (as there would be an axis from Russia-Georgia-Armenia-Iran-India-China and at the same time ‘European’ like reforms just as in Armenia) and would serve better their national interest. America has brought nothing but destruction in Georgia, and when their support was really needed, America let them down. Again, there is no independent or national policy in Georgia, just a stupid policy (by the way, I know a lot of Georgians who do not like him either). Georgia did not oppose a superpower, they switched from superpowers.

Why do people want to ‘oppose’ something, or a superpower? It will bring nothing more than destruction and chaos into our small country. Just accept the fact that most in the current situation of Armenia, a poor country with a population of over barely three million, whom borders are closed and has no connection to sea, which is threatened with extinction, it is very dangerous to ‘oppose’ the billions of investments of Russia into the Armenian economy, to oppose the billions of dollars of military aid from Russia to Armenia (we till this day get a cheap price for military products), to oppose one of the LOWEST gas prices of all countries which receive Russian gas, to oppose the country which recognizes the Armenian genocide, to oppose the country where millions of Armenians are super wealthy and send billions of dollars to Armenia, to oppose a country which will be the key against future Western imperialism and Islamic fundamentalism, to oppose the closest neighbour…. and I can go on for ages.

Sorry but I don't see arguments in your arguments. See you ....

Tigran makes very good points and i wish you two would think about his writing before making idiotic comments like the ones you do. The billions in investments russia has made in armenia can indeed be considered aid because no other country was going to make those investments if not russia. Tigran made great points on why comparing tircky and armenia in that way was totally off base and his analysis of the georgian situation is right on. He is very much in touch with reality on this subject and maybe if you open your eyes you will see his argument.

Haykakan, I think it is senseless to discuss this further when they even do not know the basic things about Russian-Armenian relations. It seems UrMistake has forgotten Russia delivered free military armory of over one billion dollars, and till this day we get discount prises for military armament, we buy it for the same price as the Russian government does (this is just one of the thousand reasons by the way).

Some people just can not think rational. They do not want evolution, but revolution which will bring our country into chaos, as we saw during the elections.

Ofcourse, I would like to see the Iranian gas pipeline working, and ofcourse I too understand Russia opposes this for logical reasons, but this is not the reason we should actively oppose our life saviour. This is how politics is, we just have to play the game smart, have good relations with every country in the world and Russia as our strategic ally.

Armenians are politically very immature, we can even learn a lot from the Turks. Not only have we got enemies from the North, Georgia, West, Turkey, East, Azerbaijan, but also a lot of internal stupid people.

I am amazed how a small group of rational thinking patriotic Armenians have managed to save Armenia all these years. Bravo to them!

As long as the Caucasus is flanked by Turkic, Islamic and Western interests, Moscow will continue looking at Armenia favorably, regardless of who’s in the Kremlin, as long as the Kremlin is occupied by Russians. Besides which, Moscow was the party that bought the unwilling parties, Yerevan and Ankara, to the negotiation table – not the West. After defeating Western backed Georgians in the summer of 2008 and making political headway in Ukraine since then, as well as taking advantage of the economic crisis currently engulfing the West, Moscow is now attempting to project its economic and political power in the region via its most trustworthy and stable regional partner, Armenia. As far as the West is concerned, since it seeks regional stability and desperately needs access to its energy resources, it is following Moscow’s lead for now. If you closely follow regional developments you will see this.

I will watch it, I saw a documentary on the television as well. This is their website, http://www.tigranakert.am , I am trying to get in contact with them as their English page does not work, maybe we could all help to translate the website into English. This is very important, as this is direct evidence of our thousands of years of existence in Artsakh.

Have you also heared about the "Armenian genome project".

“As a result, we managed to figure out something very important to us: Armenians in Syunik province and Nagorno-Karabakh lived here even 40-50 thousand years ago, when Homo Sapiens appeared in this territory,” the scientist says. I am in touch with the scientist who leads this projects, they unfortunately lack funds, we Armenians should support these kind of projects and modern-day hero's, instead of complaining all day about everything and doing nothing themselves... (as I have learned, the persons who complain the most, do the least).

Gazprom to contribute to construction of Iran-Armenia oil pipeline


Russia's Gazprom will take part in the project of construction of the Iran-Armenia oil pipeline, said deputy chairman of Gazprom Valeri Golubev.

He noted that this project is realistic and Gazprom intends to take part in it. Gazprom will take part in construction by means of its daughter company - ArmRosgazprom. The project will be implemented through Gazprom's investment programs", said Golubev.

As for the construction of an oil refinery in Armenia, he said this project is frozen due to its unprofitableness.
