I will watch it, I saw a documentary on the television as well. This is their website, http://www.tigranakert.am , I am trying to get in contact with them as their English page does not work, maybe we could all help to translate the website into English. This is very important, as this is direct evidence of our thousands of years of existence in Artsakh.

I am in touch with the scientist who leads this projects, they unfortunately lack funds, we Armenians should support these kind of projects and modern-day hero's, instead of complaining all day about everything and doing nothing themselves... (as I have learned, the persons who complain the most, do the least).

Yes i have heard of the gene studies and even referenced them in one of the threads here. It was interesting to find out that genetically western Armenians (most of the Armenian population which includes those who settled in eastern Armenia after the genocide) had more genes in common with the Turcks then with the Kharabghtsis. The most genetically isolated group of people was found in the georgian population. The genetic evidence suggests that the Kharabghtis have lived in isolation for a very long time.

Russia to co-own new NPP in Armenia

Russia expects to become a co-owner of new NPPs in Armenia and Bulgaria, said Sergey Kiriyenko, Director General of the Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation.

Kiriyenko noted that the company is applying new mechanisms, citing Turkey’s example. This is first time that Rosatom is to own an NPP in another country and operate it for 60 years. Talks with other countries, particularly Armenia and Bulgaria, are being held at the same level, Kiriyenko said.

Rosatom is carrying out design work on the third energy unit of the Armenian NPP. In fact, Rosatom is to date the only company interested in constructing a new NPP in Armenia.

''Oh, we should stop this! Russia is taking over our nuclear power plant! We should OPPOSE Russia, alright, there won't be a new power plant because nobody else is interested to build it, so the economic growth and energy security will fall, it is not in our national interest, but what the heck''

On June 7, RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan met Italian delegation
led by the head of Milan regional council Bruno Dapei.

Armenian Prime Minister gave high asessment to bilateral collaboration
in economic and cultural spheres, emphasizing the importance of
realizing the full collaboration potential.

Tigran Sargsyan specifically noted expansion of Italian investments
in Armenia, financial center construction in Dilijan, and Gyumri
projects. "Armenia is interested in developing tourism by applying
Italian experience," the Prime Minister noted.

Head of Milan regional council emphasized the importance of Diaspora's
contribution to developemnt of Armenia-Italy relations.

Invest $800K in Armenia and Postpone VAT Tax for 3 Years


The government officials in Armenia today summarized the results of an
anti crisis program, adopted a year ago, which allows companies to
postpone Value Added Tax payments for 3 years if they invest more than
800 thousand U.S. dollars in the Armenian Economy.

The Deputy Economy Minister of Armenia Mr. Ara Petrosyan, speaking to
journalists in the government headquarters today summarized the
results of the tax incentive program and said in one year it has
resulted in 51.5 million dollar investment and has created 740 jobs.
These numbers may not impress from the first sight. Yet, considering
Armenia's population is only 3.5 million, one cay say that the program
has given serious results.

The theme of today's meeting was "Investment Policy and New Job
Openings" in Armenia. Petrosyan said giving this tax incentive to the
companies is just one of the aspects of a comprehensive anti-crisis
program that the government has in place to fight the financial
crisis. The idea is to demonstrate strong commitment that the Armenian
government supports and encourages foreign investments creating cost
cutting incentives and helping the companies to lower their overheads.

According to this program any company that makes investment in Armenia
worth of 300 million drams will be illegible to postpone Value Added
Taxes for three years. This amounts to $793,650 dollars. According to
the current exchange rate 1 U.S. dollar equals to 378 Armenian drams.

Petrosyan says eight companies have met this criteria in the past year
and have been given the incentive. There have been number of other
smaller investments in Armenia creating jobs. The above mentioned
numbers of 51.5 million dollars only refer to the investments that
have met the requirement of this tax incentive program.

The foreign and local investments range from meat production to IP TV
and from constructing the World's Longest Rope for tourism development
near Tatev Monastery in Southern Armenia to planting grape wines for
the development of wine production. The area of central Armenia has
been known for its wines from the Biblical Times, when Noah descended
from the mountain Ararat and made wines (Genesis 9:18-29).

In the meanwhile today the Arka News agency reported that the GDP of
Armenia grew 7.2 percent in the period of January to April of 2010.
This growth is registered in comparison with the same period of 2009.
In the CIS countries (Commonwealth of Independent States) this is the
3rd highest GDP growth for the same period. The first and the second
are Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan with 11.3 and 7.6 percent of GDP growth
respectively.

Armenia has Free Trade Agreements with number of countries and
Most-Favored-Nation Trade Regimes with nearly 20 countries including
the United States and the European Union, reports the Armenian
Development Agency promoting trade and foreign investments in Armenia.

Armenia’s international reserves 2nd largest in CIS

According to the rating by the RF Central Bank, Armenia ranks 22nd among the 67 states – and 2nd among the CIS member-countries - in terms of international reserves. The country’s gold and foreign currency reserves are sufficient for covering imports for eight months.

China, Taiwan and Japan top the list. Specifically, China is able to pay for imports for more than two years. Among the CIS member-countries, Russia (4th in the list) has the largest international reserves, which are sufficient for paying for imports for 15 months.

The Armenian parliament ratified the Armenian-German
inter-governmental agreement on financial cooperation for the years
2009-10, signed in Yerevan on May 16 this year.

As stated before the Deputy Finance Minister Vartan Aramyan, the
agreement provides for Armenia ?¬ 105,5 million, ?¬ 100 million of which
are loan funds with a lower interest rate. This amount will come from
the German development bank KfW (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau).
According to him, ?¬ 5,5 million German side will provide in the form
of assistance.

It is expected that the agreement's amount will be directed to
programs in environmental, energy, housing and municipal sectors.

We'll have to disagree on the "Forced by the New World Order" part. But I agree with you and have thought about for along time when it comes to the debt. I think an actual Armenian official also voiced his discontent with all this borrowing. Do people have any idea how much of Armenia foreign countries will own once the time comes for payment and Armenia can't pay off China, Russia, and other countries?

Hopefully(Though I doubt it given the lack of smarts in previous decisions), the authorities decide to put all this money to good use that makes good returns, so they can at least pay off these fracking loans.

Armenia and Iowa State (USA) to Cooperate in Energy Regulation



YEREVAN, June 15. /ARKA /. The Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) of Armenia and the Iowa Utilities Board (IUB), signed a Memorandum of Understanding, designed to foster collaboration on energy regulation on Tuesday in Yerevan.

The memorandum was signed within the programs of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners　 (NARUC), with the support of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

"This new format of cooperation, which envisages the exchange of experiences and information among regulatory authorities of Armenia and Iowa, will contribute to improving the work of both departments," the Head of International Programs NARUC Chris Mahon said during the signing ceremony.

According to him, the U.S. has more than a century of experience in regulating the energy sector, and the agreement signed today will enable Armenia to learn from this experience, and the U.S. regulator, in its turn, can learn and apply the Armenian experience.

"Cooperation will promote and enhance the transparency of the regulatory bodies and improve their performance," the head of the Association added.

In his turn, Chairman of PSRC Robert Nazarian said that the Commission is working with American colleagues for 13 years, and similar documents on cooperation have been signed with the Washington State, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky.

"These agreements have been of great help to PSRC in effectively addressing the emerging issues.　We study, analyse and apply the experience of the United States," said Nazarian.

Highlighting the effectiveness of previous cooperation with U.S. regulators, the chairman of the Commission expressed confidence that further partnerships will be lengthy—0--
