Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

    "CHALLENGES" ARE LEAVING ARMENIA

    Lragir.am

    15:12:34 - 14/02/2011

Why does the Millennium Challenges Corporation end financing programs
    in Armenia?

At the latest sitting of the board of management of Millennium
Challenges Account-Armenia, an option plan for closing the program,
"MCA-Armenia" was presented. At the same time, the Corporation has
recently expanded its support to Georgia for the next year.

Recall, the agreement with the corporation was stipulated with Armenia
in 2006 and supposed financial assistance of 236 million dollars. By
the time the project was under construction, electoral processes kicked
off in Armenia, which ended with tragic events and an unpleasant
assessment by the State Dept. as a result, the sum was reduced to
180 million. 110 million has been allocated so far. The rest will be
allocated within 2011, which is the last year of the five-year program.

It is obvious that the project will be closed without mastering even
the reduced budget of 180 million. The sole reason for refusal by
the U.S. government is said the state of democracy in Armenia.

Unwillingness or inability of the Armenian government to implement
reforms, in fact, deprived Armenia of measures, which would not fill
up to the already growing national debt.

The U.S. government will not spend its taxpayers' money to restore
irrigation systems and rural economies of Armenia, which would later
    be monopolized.
    Hayastan or Bust.

More like Armenia wouldn't become the willing bit*h like its neighbor to the north.
For the first time in more than 600 years, Armenia is free and independent, and we are therefore obligated
to place our national interests ahead of our personal gains or aspirations.

Indeed, we still managed to get one hundred million out of this. This is the way it should be, we should play their game, benefit as much as we can, but never become their xxxxx. Bravo Armenia! "Their" tax money, if we calculate how much the West (Great-Britain, France, etc) has stolen from Armenia, the numbers are in billions!

Democracy, every time I hear the word I have to throw up. First the West used religion for their imperialistic schemes, now they use democracy. Wake up Armenians! It's in their blood, they will never change. Bloodthirsty people.

Religion? We were first Christian nation in the world. What's so bad about being a democracy? Is being dictatorship better? I do think when US says that they support "democracies" and then go support dictatorships like Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan for oil, it's very hypocritical, but that aside democracy as an ideology is the rule by the people, and I really don't see how that is bad.

You did not know the West used religion (Christianity) for their imperialistic schemes? What does it have to do us being the first Christian nation. What's so bad about the theory of democracy, in my opinion a lot of things. Personally I like the theory of communism more, but in fact, communism nor democracy has ever been applied in reality. There is no democracy in Europe, there is no democracy in America. To a lesser extent, there is some economic freedom, and some freedom to travel and party and have sex everywhere you want, but democracy? Of course not.

And my point is I am sick and tired of the notion of democracy which the West are using to do what ever they want in the world, the more as they are not even a real democracy.

Again, in Armenia I want to see a system which is the best for our country, we don't have to follow the guidelines set by the West nor any other country on how to rule our country. We should have an Armenian version of democracy, or an Armenian version of communism, or an Armenian version national-socialism (my preferred one).

Democratic governments are the most currupt and warlike form of government ever created. The hypocracy of the USA is nothing new, it wants only those countries it does not control via dictators to adopt democracy because in a democratic system there is always some vori tsak willing to sell everything. There is no real democracy anywhere on earth and there never was. The minute a "democratic" government is set up it is immediately taken over by the strongest influences in that society. There is no representation of the people in the USA because no person can afford the lobbying power neded to get attention from legislators. Every "democracy" is a excersize in fiction almost from inception.

A dictator who cares about its people is far more effective than a democracy that is segmented by pockets of people with personal agendas.

For example, if a dictator had full control over the resources of a country, he could in essence organize the population to maximize the use of those resources.

In a democracy, the resources are in the control of the highest bidder and the people in power are paid to allow those resources to be used how and when it's most profitable for those few individuals. How is it fair that the people that live around and protect the land surrounding them can't even make use of the resources because wealthy investors have the rights to them?

Economics is about the exchange of material goods and services. If a country is governed by religious values, there are certain aspects of economics that can't be exploited since the people follow a strict cultural system. Theocratic economic policies generally lead to stable economies with constant population growth while liberal economic policies will lead to erratic economies with stagnant population or negative growth. The reason liberal economic policies work in the west is because immigration accounts for the stagnant population growth.

I think democracy as an ideology/concept, rule of the people, is positive. Of course, any ideology like democracy or communism, has never been applied perfectly, humans are imperfect creatures and it is impractical to expect any democracy or communist state to be flawless in their conduct of the ideology. Every state is going to have flaws, problems, that is natural, the important thing is that the state strives towards perfection.

That being said, we should strive in our country to make it a more democratic, not because West is telling us, but for the betterment of our society and legitimacy of our government, fight corruption, make our education system better, make business more competitive, and expand government programs for our people. We've been making reforms, heading towards that direction, and with EU's help, which is actively involved in this process, we can vastly improve our country's rule of law and political atmosphere.

In my opinion, one major flaw in our government's policies is the neo-liberal economic policies, and as a leftist when it comes to economy, I believe that has to be changed.

Is Switzerland warlike? They have direct democracy there. I really don't think it's form of government that constitutes if a country is warlike or not. You think dictatorships haven't been warlike also? Every ideology has its flaws, including democracy, and of course given the dirty rules of politics, money, greed, all people are not going to be faithfully represented, and naturally people who have big money is going to make representation of them more easy. Why else do you think US is such a big supporter of Israel? J3wish lobby, the most powerful lobby in the US.

However, I rather people have some say when it comes to their country rather than no say.
