208,200 Internet users in Armenia

According to ITU, the number of Internet users in Armenia reached 208,200 as of June 2010.Under this index penetration makes 7%, Internet World Stats reported.

As of 2009, the number of Internet users made 191,000 with 6.4% penetration. Thus, 0.6% growth was registered.

The number of Internet users in Azerbaijan reaches 3,689,000 with 44.4% penetration, whereas in Georgia - 1,300,000 (28.3% penetration).

Azerbaijan Vows to Boost Number of Refugees to 4 Millions By 2020

Aliyev attends opening ceremony of new Elite Tent City near Baku

BAKU - Early on Tuesday, President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, announced the country’s strategic plans for the coming decade. The President assured that with the continued current economic growth and a smart spending policy, the Government will be able to increase the number of Azerbaijani refugees and internally displaced persons from one to four million as early as the year 2020.

Aliyev called the project “Azerbaijan 2020″ and promised an increase in government support in order to achieve the new milestone in the war against Armenia.

“Despite the relative truce over Karabakh, we work relentlessly to defeat Armenia. With every year our economy affords us more and more refugees,” claimed Azerbaijani president. “Just imagine 4 million pairs of eyes sadly looking at the Europeans, Americans and Russians.. Think of the volume of pro-Azerbaijani sentiments to be generated!”

“Azerbaijan is a rich country today. There is no reason why our refugees should not comfortably grow and enjoy every available luxury,” mentioned Aliyev in an interview on Public TV. “We’re a proud nation and we take good care of our internally displaced compatriots.”

Aliyev shared several elements of the project: “The Ministry of Social Security has kicked off a new large-scale program entitled New tents for Young Refugee Families. Every new family will get a brand new tent and benefit package after each newborn refugee. With the current oil prices, we can plan on generating roughly 300,000 new refugees per annum in the next ten years. ”

The 2009 statistics show that each tent has its own 50 inch plasma screen TV and Jacuzzi. Multiple labor-seekers from Baku have reportedly been seeking out tent cities searching for summer jobs such as picking up litter and doing house-keeping while the refugees themselves spend their summer vacations in Spain and Italy.

Further detail on project “Azerbaijan 2020″ was revealed by the Ministry of Karabakh Nostalgia. Minister Rafik Bayramov said: “We have embarked on a mass scale construction of new tent cities near Ganja, Baku, and areas in the deep south. The new tent cities will be secured with extremely advanced infrastructure, the best that the 21-st century has to offer. Every tent community will have its own tent-3D-movies, tent schools and tent mosques to accommodate all the needs of a modern Azerbaijani refugee. Ganja is also expected to have a Tent Academy of Sciences”.

Project “Azerbaijan 2020″ has received global support from the affluent Azerbaijani Diaspora. It has promised continued support to the project. The general public has also received the news with its traditional open-air patriotism and enthusiasm.

As the public embrace the new initiative, the President further adds to the big picture of the concept: “Azerbaijan is a dignified country and has the fastest developing economy in the region. We are no longer the Azerbaijan of slum tent cities with a million starving refugees. The Azerbaijani refugees of today have fully furnished amenities with all the commodities that an oil-rich country can provide. They have the most expensive tents and consistently receive food and healthcare services which is on par with what refugees receive in the most developed European countries. As the economy boom keeps up, we will be able to afford even more refugees with improved social conditions.”

Turkey also joined the strategic effort promising to invest 3 million dollars to set up new refugee communities in the Nakhijevan exclave area. The Turkish Prime Minister participated in a ceremony launching the first tent neighborhood consisting of experienced refugees from mainland Azerbaijan.

The EU representative to Azerbaijan could not resist his excitement: “The quality of tents and public services at refugee communities are just incredible. Azerbaijan is a truly developed, economically powerful and highly advanced 21-st century state. This country is a refugees true paradise.”

Political expert Richard Giragosian called the Azerbaijani strategy “unfair”. In a press conference on Tuesday, Giragosian said: “Azerbaijanis know how sentimental Europeans are. This is an obvious attempt to manipulate the emotions of the OSCE Minsk Group. Four million puppy-dog eyes is serious political leverage. Our Foreign Ministry needs to react to this. Perhaps we could take the OSCE Minsk group folks to Garni and Geghard more often..”

Simultaneously, sources report that Azerbaijan plans to boost the number of civilian victims of Armenian aggression to three million by 2025, and for this purpose, they have reportedly cut deals with several Chinese morgues.

“The daughter of a Chairman of an Azerbaijani State Committee, having a status of Ministry, is indulged in love affair with a young Armenian. The girl is studying in London,” the Hayots Ashkharh daily writes.

“A source informing of it to the “Yeni Musavat” newspaper reported that the news shocked even the elite of Azerbaijani authorities. The Azerbaijanis, studying in London and learning about the love affair of an Azeri girl, particularly Taleh Heydarov, son of Azerbaijani Minister of Emergency Situations and the leader of Azerbaijani community in Europe Kamaladdin Heydarov, brought cries of protest, calling on the authorities to make father-minister take adequate measures and put an end to this disgrace.

The attempts by Taleh Heydarov to press the young Armenian and his girlfriend were doomed to failure. The loving couple continues to live together.

Life of Armenian loving Azerbaijani girl menaced

After the love story about the Armenian boy and a daughter of Azerbaijani Minister was spread, it became clear the life of the Armenian student is menaced. The love affair received wide publicity among the Armenian and Azerbaijani communities in London.

The Azerbaijani community headed by Taleh Heydarov, son of Azerbaijani Minister of Emergency Situations and the leader of Azerbaijani community in Europe Kamaladdin Heydarov brought cries of protest, considering the young girl offended the identity of the Azerbaijani nation. The young men even called to punish the “unfaithful girl.” They tried to make the girls’ father, a Chairman of an Azerbaijani State Committee, having status of Ministry, take adequate measures and put an end to this disgrace.

The representatives of the Armenian Community in London informed NEWS.am the Azerbaijani community just burst out and some hot heads even promised to kill both the boy and the girl. “His life is menaced. We do not want to announce his name to avoid the possible consequences,” they said. Asked on their attitude towards the young lovers, the Armenians said it is their personal affair and nobody has right to interfere.

The loving couple continues to live together and is ready to leave the country if it is needed.

The Azerbaijani community in Great Britain makes 15.000, whereas the Armenian-20.000.

Mass Killing of Armenian Servicemen in Occupied Azerbaijani Lands vs Yerevan's Silence

Many times Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has spoken about combat readiness and bravery of the Armenian army emphasizing moral of Armenian soldiers and officers. Either Sargayan seems to be unaware how deep moral decline in his army is, or just pretends to be.

Frugal military budget does not allow Armenian soldiers not only to receive modern military equipment and clothing but also eat normally. No one wants to serve in the Armenian army. This, in turn, leads to unhealthy atmosphere in the military. As a result, military hazing in the neighboring army has been reported almost every day for many years.

The situation has deteriorated even more over the recent years. The army faces lack of funds just like the country itself. Serving soldiers remain hungry and sick. Hence the moral decay of the entire Armenian army. Ordinary soldiers are regularly exposed to violence, harassment and abuse by officers. Five servicemen (four of them being officers) were killed in an incident in an Armenian military unit on July 29. As it became known later, they found a soldier asleep on duty. He was awakened and they began to make fun of him. As a result, the young man shot attackers on the spot and then shot himself as well.

This is as regrettable as the extremely unprofessional behavior of the country’s Ministry of Defence. This incident was reported to public by human right activists. The ministry did not report details, but its official website unexpectedly offered condolences to relatives of the deceased without disclosing their names.

In his turn, former spokesperson for the Armenian Defense Ministry Seyran Shahsuvaryan showed the top rudeness and unprofessionalism when asked by local journalists whether the incident really occurred at a military unit in occupied territories of Azerbaijan. In response, he said the following: "I don't know where it happened.” He also noted law enforcement agencies are dealing with the issue.

Shahsuvaryan seems to be unaware of what has happened or it is easier for him to play favourite game of Armenian officials because it will be hard to explain the world community why servicemen who are Armenian citizens, who Armenia claims have nothing to do with the occupation of Azerbaijan’s lands, die exactly on territory of a neighboring Azerbaijan.

The death of four officers and a soldier is not an isolated case of tragic losses in Armenian army in recent times. 31-year-old army mercenary Artak Nazaryan died several days ago. The Defense Ministry was quick to announce that he died from bullet from the Azerbaijani side. However, this version was completely rejected by human rights activists and the mother of the deceased, saying that a few days before the death the mother visited his son and stayed with him for several days, knowing that that he had problems with other officers.

Facing strong pressure, Armenian Defense Ministry was forced to admit that Nazaryan died not from a bullet from the Azerbaijani side of the contact line now claming he committed a suicide by shooting himself in the mouth. Relatives and human rights activists do not believe this version either.

Armenian people do their best to keep away their sons, brothers and husbands from military service. Relatives of the dead soldiers and officers invariably ask the question: why should their children from Armenia die for land of strangers - Azerbaijani land? After all, majority of those who died during recent incidents hail precisely from Armenia, but not Karabakh.

Only Armenian people can save themselves today as the government failed to do this, caring only for its selfish interests. How many more soldiers and officers have to die so that local people will realize senselessness of occupation of native Azerbaijani lands? No need to rely on common sense and sober mind of the Armenian authorities.

Azerbaijan's folklore song "Sari gelin" was presented as Armenian "Mountain bride" performed by Jivan Gasparyan in New York.

Azerbaijan's Sari Gelin was presented as Armenian "Mountain bride" performed by Jivan Gasparyan in Radio Pozitiv program in Russian in New York on July 28, according to a statement of Azerbaijan's permanent representation in UN.

In response to this, the permanent representation of Azerbaijan in UN contacted the radio administration saying the things voiced in the program are untrue and asked to correct the mistake.

The request was satisfied and the audience was informed that Sari Gelin is a folklore song of Azerbaijan and apologizes were presented for the mistake.

Azerbaijan’s warlike ‘balloons’ will soon blow out

There will be no war with Azerbaijan in the near future, Giro Manoyan, head of the Hay Dat (Armenian Cause) office, ARF Dashnaktsutyun told NEWS.am.

“Azerbaijan can afford unleashing war in two cases: if it feels confident of winning, or if Armenia and Turkey normalize relations, without taking into account Azerbaijan’s interests,” he said. According to him, the second scenario will be considered as force-majeure and, doing so, Baku will try to change something. The head of the Hay Dat office considers that at present neither of the scenarios is feasible.

Asked about the recent warlike statements voiced by the Azerbaijani authorities, the increasing purchase of weapons, in particular two batteries of S-300PMU2 Favorit air-defense system, ban on leaving the country imposed against males aged 18-45, as well as other factors testifying to neighbors’ intention to unleash war, ARFD member noted that all these factors are intended for domestic policy.

“They are trying to hint that something crucial might happen and the incumbent government should not be changed. They are just trying to retain power,” Gio Manoyan stated.

Aliyev is resolute to buy Mozdok-Tbilisi-Yerevan pipeline: Hurriyet

The North-South gas pipeline that carries Russian gas to Armenia will in all probability be bought by Azerbaijan’s State Oil Company (SOCAR), writes Turkish daily Hurriyet, citing Georgian sources.

“Due to economic crisis Georgia decided to cross the strategically important North-South pipeline off the list of the facilities not subject to privatization. Yerevan’s main concern is to make sure the pipeline does not emerge into the hands of the Azerbaijani. While some other powers in Georgia declare that Georgia will come under Russia’s control should Gazprom buy the pipeline,” writes the paper, adding that besides the Azerbaijani companies some Russian and Kazakhstani ones pretend to the Mozdok-Tbilisi-Yerevan pipeline.

Furhter the newspaper mentions that according to some experts the proprietor of the pipeline will by 99 per cent be the SOCAR.

“Last month Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev held talks over the issue with the Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili. In terms of trade the acquisition of that pipeline is not beneficial at all, but Aliyev is resolute in bringing the pipeline under his control,” writes the paper, adding that in that way Armenia’s energy valve will come into the hand of Azerbaijan.
