I think that the attempted appointment of Acemoglu as ambassador to France is part of a continued campaign by the Turkish government to weaken Diaspora Armenians because he would then have to follow the Turkish line according to which the genocide did not take place.

Kobe Bryant's appointment as the Turkish Airline's "Global Brand Ambassador" was also a step in that direction, as well as what happened in Argentina during the summer of 2010... What else do they have in mind?

True. An important diplomatic post in France would usually go to a senior member of the diplomatic staff from any country, someone fluent in French, knows the country, has been in the diplomatic corps for years, etc. It is simply a ruse to create division amongst Armenians, for the Turks to make a weak display (and very transparent) of plurality. This is indeed a strategy to quash the genocide and nothing more.

So far I've heard that he rejected being Turkish Ambassador to the OECD but its unclear whether he has accepted being Ambassador to France or not.

We also have to remember that France is a country where they recently made denying the Armenian genocide a crime. So is he really going to deny it, or does Turkey have other things in mind by appointing him there? I think a lot of this is for PR, "how can we be racist towards Armenians when one of our ambassadors is Armenian?" type of crap. I'm guessing they will also use him as a tool to better understand the Armenian community of France (one of the biggest diaspora communities) and maybe even make him do things to create a rift in the Armenian community.

The kobe bryant thing was a slap in the face of Armenians in LA. Now we have France. What happened in Argentina in 2010... are you referring to the ataturk statue?

Anyways, it seems like they are openly going after our diaspora communities.

No problem with Armenia's UAE embassy (totally normal), but Aliyev is using his embassy to show the Arabs that "Armenians kill muslims." So, I think it's important to portray Aliyev as a non-muslim, Attaturk-alchaholic, corrupt dictator, that kisses Israel's a**, and traffics in women. You, know: The good stuff. (One of the problems with the UAE though is they traffic in Armenian women - there was a documentary about it. Their governement is basically full of "cocaine-arabs.")

Yeah, but some of the Arab states are actually on okay terms with Israel because they are more afraid of Iran, and thus they can find a friend in Azerbaijan. Saudi Arabia for example, if you read about them from the Wikileaks.
