Russia sends note to Azerbaijan on official suspension of Gabala radar station’s operation

    [ 10 December 2012 18:43 ]
Baku – APA. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on the suspension of the exploitation of Gabala RLS.

The ministry’s press service told APA that Azerbaijan and Russia have conducted intensive negotiations on Gabala radar station.

During the negotiations, Azerbaijan has shown it readiness to continue the cooperation with the Russian side. No agreement was reached on lease payment of the above-mentioned station.

The statement says: “The Russian Federation has sent a note to the Azerbaijani side on the suspension of station’s operation from December 10, 2012 due to the ineffectiveness of the agreement on “The status, principles and terms of Gabala RLS between the Azerbaijani Government and Russian Government” from December 9, 2012.”
