    Discussion of the Armenian-American military cooperation activities

    On March 26, the annual Armenia-US military cooperation planning conference took place in Yerevan. Amongst the participants were representatives ofthe U.S. European Command, Kansas National Guard and US Marine Forces Europe.
    The purpose of the conference was to discuss the planned activities in the framework of the Armenia-US military cooperation for the years 2013 and 2014, and to draft defence cooperation plan between the Ministry of Defence of Armenia and theUS European Command. The objectives of the cooperation plan include: support to the implementation of Armenia-NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan enhancing the interoperability between Armenia and NATO; support to develop professional military education system, with the focus on the training for non-commissioned officers and junior commanders; support to peacekeeping operations, military medical missions and preparatory processes for demining operations; training for the staff of Armenian Armed Forces army units at the US combat training centers located in Europe.
    The defense cooperation plan will be signed in the coming week by the exchange of letters. The US delegation also met with First Deputy Minister of Defense David Tonoyan. At the meeting, parties highly appreciated the current level of cooperation, and highlighted the importance of strengthening it in the areas of peacekeeping capability building and reforms in defence planning. First Deputy Minister of Defence stressed the importance of defense cooperation plan and the willingness of the parties to make the cooperation more goal-oriented.
    The U.S. side hailed the willingness of the Armenian side to enhance the defence cooperation and emphasized that the cooperation pursues common objectives and aims to strengthen international security and stability.
    Other issues of mutual interest related to the Armenia-US defense cooperation were also addressed at the meeting.

        Armenian and American rescuers to conduct joint staff exercise

        YEREVAN.- Head of Armenia’s rescue service received on Thursday a delegation of the Kansas National Guard.

        The delegation included Bilateral Affairs Officer in the U.S. Embassy, Captain Aaron Isaacson, Lt. Col. Brent Salmans, the director of the Kansas National Guard State Partnership Program, and coordinator of the program on bilateral affairs from embassy’s office of defense cooperation Ani Melkumyan.

        They discussed issues related to the US-Armenia staff exercise planned for this summer and holding of seminars for the employees of the 911 service.

        Director of the Rescue Service S. Azaryan presented work to develop crisis management center and the 911 service, noting that similar centers will be established in Armenia’s regions in the near future.

        Brent Salmans welcomed the initiative, adding that they appreciate rapid development of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. He believes the upcoming exercise will be a good opportunity to test operation of new crisis management center. The American side is ready to assist organization of exercises and workshops to enhance skills, he added.

        The sides agreed to hold a conference to plan the scenario of conditional nuclear accident in Armenian NPP with the participation of the representatives of all the local and international structures.

                  To my knowledge The RPG-29 is 1m in length...this one looks much longer! Appreciate any additional info

                      Ahh! thnx bro! good info! These are powerful weapons. I remember even the israeli Merkava-4s had some trouble with them in southern Lebanon. I think they could seriously give some hard time to the azeri t-72s, specially in the mountainous terrain of NKR!
