The strongest characteristic (hallmark) of a banana republics, I think is large pictures of the president on public buildings.

Something I am sure you do not see in European or other Non–Banana Republics.

No way that makes armenian banana something just cause some police chief with his narrow mind that tried to suck it off from Sarkysian ..its xxxxy and absurb move ..but he did it !!

I have biger exampels of banana republics ...take a better look at Italy they will tax illigal prostitution and narcotics ..to just boost its GDP ! They had Berlusconi leading them ..that say's it all ..
In Spain cause of greedy banks , police KICK's out people from their own houses cause of debts ..look it up in the net !
Look everything goes down to the average Joe ..and average is always bad ...its the few that makes the differance . The average in armenia is pretty bad ... and the average EU is just an xxxxxxx in big proportions just lesser than its US counterparts .

I am not suggesting Armenia IS a banana republic but before we diverge from its meaning , the definition of Banana Republic

Նախիջևանում ավտովթարի հետևանքով Ադրբեջանի ԶՈւ ենթասպա է մահացել

Նախիջևանում զինվորական ավտոմեքենայի մասնակցությամբ մահվան ելքով վերջին շրջանում արդեն երկրորդ պատահարն է գրանցվել. քաղաքացիական և զինվորական ավտոմեքենաների բախման հետևանքով ենթասպա է մահացել։

Նախիջևանի ինքնավար հանրապետության Շահբուզի շրջանում ադրբեջանական զորամասերից մեկի բուժօգնության ավտոմեքենան բախվել է քաղաքացիական ավտոմեքենայի հետ։ Այս մասին հաղորդում է ադրբեջանական ԱՊԱ լրատվական գործակալությունը՝ նշելով, որ Ադրբեջանի ՊՆ-ում հաստատել են տեղեկությունը։

Բախման հետևանքով բուժօգնության ավտոմեքենան շրջվել է (ավտոմեքենայի մակնիշը չի նշվում), իսկ զորամասի բուժծառայության պետ, ենթասպա Վյուգար Օրուջևը ստացած վնասվածքներից հիվանդանոցում մահացել է։

Զինվորական ավտոմեքենայի վարորդը՝ պայմանագրային զինծառայող, շարքային Ռաշադ Ռուֆաթովը թեթև վնասվածքներ է ստացել։

Քաղաքացիական ավտոմեքենայի վարորդը նույնպես վնասվել է, սակայն նրա կյանքին վտանգ չի սպառնում։

Հիշեցնենք, որ հունիսի սկզբին Նախիջևանում զինծառայողներ փոխադրող ԿամԱԶ բեռնատարը բախվել էր մարդատար ավտոմեքենային, ինչի հետևանքով մահացել էին մարդատարի ուղևորներից 5-ը, վնասվածքներ ստացել 2-ը։ Մահացածների թվում է նաև 1 երեխա։ Բախումից վնասվել էին նաև երկու ադրբեջանցի զինծառայողներ։

IIRC, technical equipment was ready a while ago, but the political decision hasn't been made yet. BTW, notice they fly pretty low, just in case any azeri radar picks them up.
