PRESIDENT OF RUSSIA VLADIMIR PUTIN: Mr Sargsyan, friends and colleagues,

First of all, I want to thank you for accepting our invitation to come to Sochi.

There is no need to characterise the Russian-Armenian relations; they are extremely friendly, strategic relations, as evidenced by the recent decisions of the Armenian leadership regarding the accession to the Customs Union and the Eurasian Economic Union. The work is in progress, and I would like to inform you about what has been done in this area so far.

We also have a number of issues on the bilateral agenda, and we will talk about them today. This is also an opportunity to discuss the Karabakh settlement. Therefore, our agenda today is very full and rich.

I am very happy to see you. Welcome.

PRESIDENT OF ARMENIA SERZH SARGSYAN: Thank you, Mr Putin, for the invitation to Sochi and to this meeting.

Three months have passed since our last meeting, and there is a need to take stock of some of our agreements. In addition to our bilateral agenda, I would also like to discuss some issues related to the integration processes, specifically Armenia’s accession to the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union.

Naturally, we are concerned about the situation in Ukraine. If you wish, you could inform us about the measures being taken by Russia, and I, in turn, will describe in detail the situation in our region and the reasons behind Azerbaijan’s deliberate escalation of the crisis on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and the contact line.

Thank you very much for the warm welcome and excellent conditions for our work.

I don't expect anything from This particular meeting either,we should still feel lucky that they (OSCE) are neutral about this conflict and don't take the azeri side taking into account their possession of oil and gas

specially since international community recognizes artsakh as "azeri land".

Arakeretzig i totally agree with u we are more and more venerable to Russian help as time passes by since they gain control of our energy and various other sectors and also pull the strings military wise.

The other scenario is an Armenia Without Russia which is a nightmare also,the fact of them not controlling our southern and western borders can mean a battle on both sides,and i don't put my hope into international support and Sympathy since international community is already used to putting blind eye on this kind of conflicts.

So creating few other strategic and international ties and strengthen the ones we have with neighbors and our allies beside Russia and balancing the tie with Russia as arekertzig noted can be the solution.

They are all talk,just look at Ukraine,Georgia,or invasion of northern Cyprus for example of modern turkeys imperialist act.

They only "help" African and middle eastern nations that are in trouble by bombing the hell out of them,they have their profit of oil and gas or else they are the last people they would give any crap about.

I have total faith on our guys but may god be with us at this time around since its definitely gonna be tougher than last time.

Turkish prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan looks set to become the country’s first directly elected president with nearly all the ballots counted in Sunday’s elections.

Justice minister Bekir xxxdag announced on his Twitter account: “The chairman of the AK Party and the prime minister of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has become the first president elected by the people.”

According to Turkish broadcasters, Erdogan had about 52% of all votes, almost 14 points ahead of his main rival, opposition candidate Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, 70. Selahattin Demirtas, 41, of the leftwing Democratic People’s party (HDP) won 9.2%. Erdogan’s win was expected: recent opinion polls had him far ahead of Ihsanoglu and Demirtas, co-chairs of the pro-Kurdish Democratic People’s party (HDP).

But he has to secure an absolute majority of the popular vote if he is to avoid a second round on 24 August – an outcome that would be perceived as a significant blow to his authority.

The Turkish president was previously chosen by parliament, but a 2010 referendum gave Turks the power to choose the head of state by direct vote. Until now the post has largely been a symbolic one, but Erdogan has repeatedly underlined his wish to use “the full extent of his constitutional powers” to be an “active president”. Critics fear that he will turn an already polarised Turkey into an increasingly authoritarian state.

More than 53 million Turkish voters were eligible to cast their ballots on Sunday. But at several Istanbul polling stations, there was no rush to vote. At midday, one election official in the conservative district of Tophane was disappointed by the low turnout: “There are about 1,000 people who should vote here today, but so far not even 200 have voted. For the local elections in March, this place was heaving. People don’t seem to care as much about presidential elections.”

Dilek Cilingir, 43, a computer engineer from Istanbul, said many people were disillusioned by Turkish politics: “I think a lot of people don’t vote today because they simply gave up. Everybody thinks that Erdogan will win, so they don’t vote at all.”

Cilingir and Doruk Aksoy, 39, had volunteered for the civil rights platform Öy ve Ötesi (Ballot and Beyond) to monitor the elections. Aksoy argued that holding an election in the height of summer may have contributed to the low numbers of voters.

“I changed my holiday plans to be able to be here today,” Cilingir said. “I wanted to take responsibility and do something, not just complain about the state of the country.”

In a teahouse around the corner, men sitting around the tables said they were all firmly standing behind Erdogan: “I voted for the prime minister because he is the only one with a vision, and projects he stands for. He completely turned Turkey around. There is a world of difference between the Turkey today and the Turkey 20 years ago”, Sülayman Güney, 51, a diving instructor, said.

Erdogan, 60, has been in power since 2003. Barred by party rules from seeking a fourth term as prime minister, he has faced multiple challenges to his 11-year rule, amid growing opposition to his authoritarian style. His ruling Justice and Development party (AKP) triumphed in local elections in March, despite allegations of widespread corruption inside the government and a wave of summer protests sweeping the country.

A clear victory on Sunday would solidify Erdogan’s hold on Turkey and put an end to what many see as his most difficult year in power.

Many fear that critics will have an even harder time voicing their opposition to what Erdogan calls “the new Turkey” under him as president.

Berk Ünlüustaoglu, a 28-year-old lawyer who cast his vote on Sunday, said he was very worried about Turkey: “We are increasingly moving towards a state of one party, and one order. I fear that what we will lose is democracy.”

Azerbaijan buys medium-range missiles

The range of fire medium-range missiles is about 3000 km.

Azerbaijan has gained the medium range ballistic missiles EXTRA of Israeli production (130 km) and long-range missiles (2,000 km) made in Pakistan.

Oxu.Az reports citing Haqqin.Az that the information was provided by hurriyet.com.tr.

It has to be noted that in order not to disturb the balance of power, Russia does not sell long-range ballistic missiles to Armenia and Azerbaijan. At the same time, Russia has installed operational-tactical missile complexes "Iskander" with nuclear warheads on a military base in Armenia near the Turkish border.

The ballistic missiles with a range 1000-5500 km can be fitted with a nuclear warhead.

The missiles of Israel Military Industries (IMI) have the caliber of 306 mm, a length of 3.97 m, a launch weight of 450 kg and a 125 kg weight of warhead.

Pakistani missile "Shaheen-1" is capable of hitting targets at a distance of 750 km, "Hatf-4" is an improved version of the "Shaheen-1" missile with a longer range. The exact range of "Shaheen-1A" advanced missile called the "Hatf-4" is not officialy reported, although the range of fire medium-range missiles is about 3000 km.

Looks like the Azerbaijani government has increased the intensity of their information war. Maybe it's true. If it is, it would be a clear sign of how far Russia is prepared to go in defending Armenia and it's southern military district.

If Pakistan is selling a long range missile system to Azerbaijan, I don't think were the target. I think it's more aimed at having a capability to hit Russian or Iranian military targets beyond the range of their current systems.
