Zakir Hasanov: Yerevan’s deliberately prolonging the negotiations negatively affects the regional situation
Baku. Agha Jafarli – APA. On March 5, Defense Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Azerbaijan Robert Cekuta, said the Defense Ministry.
Referring to the current level of bilateral military cooperation between Azerbaijan and the US, the sides exchanged views on the positive results achieved in this field and the pending issues as well.
Z. Hasanov stressed the importance of expanding bilateral relations which cover various areas, including military.
Touching on the military-political situation, the defense minister said Armenia continues its aggressive policy, noting that though the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs called for a peace agreement within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, delay of the peace process and Yerevan’s deliberately prolonging the negotiations negatively affect the situation in the region.
Noting the US efforts and initiatives to expand ties for achieving the peace that could positively affect the situation in the region, the ambassador said the idea of a great peace agreement put forward by the co-chairs was welcomed.
Moreover, the sides discussed other issues on regional and bilateral cooperation.
