Women working in Armenia army increase 3 times in 10 years

YEREVAN. – The number of women working in the Armed Forces of Armenia has increased by about three times, over the course of the past ten years.

Head of United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Armenia Country Office, Garik Hayrapetyan, stated the aforementioned at a press conference on Monday.

He presented the data of a new study on discrimination against women, and which the UNFPA conducted in the country, from 2015 to 2016.

“In 2001, the number of women in the [Armenian] Armed Forces was 3.3 percent, [but] in 2011—already 8.8 percent,” Hayrapetyan stated. “We haven’t researched this fact is in depth, however, in my opinion, this is due to the fact that the number of cadets [in Armenia] is increasing year by year.”

In the UNFPA official’s words, the salaries are relatively high in the Armenian Armed Forces, and this is also a reason why numerous women in Armenia prefer this line of work.

It's the new engines with reduced maintenance and longer life plus current avionics/electronics that extends the mig 29 to valuable status. Without that, they are good for retirement and not much else.
Nothing but a block hole to throw money into.
Yes you're right, they will need to be maintained, but Armenians have awesome skills to maintain stuff. The maintenance of our tanks is done fully in Armenia whereas Azeris do their maintenance abroad, mostly Ukraine. We can always train our skilled mechanics to maintain them

Perchance your misunderstanding . It is not about lack of training to maintain these older jets. It is about the (1) old (2) worn out (3) outdated components of the mig 29..
The Slovak govt isn't retiring these planes for no reason, but rather because everything on plane needs replacing.
Well trained maintainence crews won't change the fact these planes need a total overhaul with many upgrades or they are --- old junk ---.
The only skill that's going to change that is the skill of modernization. The Russians have the new engines and technologies to do that, but I think it costs more like 30 million $$. Not two million $$.
Russia will sell us identicle mig 29s for $5 if we sign a contract to upgrade them.
It would be a big waste of manpower/money to maintain those planes ... Hence retirement.
2 million $$ for those planes is not a good deal when it costs at least two score of millions to bring them into the operable range.
I know mig 29 sounds alluring, but 2 or 3 or more times the cost and time to keep repairing old stuff compared to the right stuff is --- no fly ---. And even then, we would still be flying outdated stuff.
Tanks and migs are not good analogy.
They will do us no good but will bleed us to death.
