Just imagine how much he and his family stole from the azeris that their mean income is comparable to Armenia's. I still say we need to impose heavier costs on them when they try stuff like this so they will do it less. A ceasefire now is not in our interest. We need to make them pay a much steeper cost for violating ceasefires.

Agree... Aliev is our best friend. Nobody could squander oil profits so effectively as his clan did. He is just a champion incompetent.
But, I want him gone. Instead, 2-3 new presidents of 2-3 new republics in place of Azerbaijan.

yep. There isn't much left to squander away anyway. They supposedly have 30 billion left in their fund. Even if that's true, he will take much of that with him if he is toppled. In an ideal situation, there will be warring factions like we saw in the first war, and in the Georgian civil war, and they will use their weapons on each other.

The problem is that if he is deposed there is uncertainty who will replace him. There is a ISIS component active in the area and these guys are very dangerous and quite capable of seizing power given the opportunity. I would rather have this guy continue his corrupt rule but not attack us as much.

Good point! Aliyev Jr. spent the first war gambling in Monaco (with state funds) and chasing whxres.
