Armenian macho culture sabotages itself with reckless high speed driving especially in highways outside Yerevan. If you mix that with dangerous mountainous Armenian roads especially in winter/spring weather, it leads to disaster. The car accident rate in Armenia is troubling. It is at 18.3/100,000. Compare this to Georgia at 11.8/100,000 and Azerbaijan at 10/100,000 (!!!) and you see that there is a major problem in this country with both roads and speeding https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...ted_death_rate

I posted basically the same thing only weeks ago. Something has to be done to change our national character regarding cars and driving.
We pay our last penny and get the most expensive car we can and then drive as wrecklesly as we can.
For us it's all mucho.

Guard rails.....saved my life on a superbike doing 90MPH on a tight turn but picked up rear flat tire so I low sided.
The drop was over 800 ft, the guard rail shot me in the air but me and the bike landed back on the road.

Glad you're alive. I saw a documentary on the autobahn, they showed car accidents at 100+ mph. The guard rails absorbed the hits, didn't break, prevented the car from flying into oncoming traffic. Definitely road quality saving lives. Drinking and driving also seems to be a common thing, this is one thing that the police should take very seriously.

YEREVAN. – The Minister of Defense of Armenia, Seyran Ohanyan, on Wednesday paid working visits to several military units.

The Ministry of Defense informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that the objective of these visits were to monitor the military service conditions, get familiarized with the operational situation at the given sector of the border, and inspect the course of implementation of the instructions that were given during previous visits.

In addition, Ohanyan gave certain tasks, guidelines, and instructions to the commanders of these military units, to more effectively carry out the activities.

Also, the Armenian defense minister visited the tent camp that has opened within the framework of the operational meetings of the commanders of the Armed Forces, and listened to the reports and proposals by the commanders of the army troops.

Այսօր` մարտի 24-ին` ժամը 09:20-ի սահմաններում ՀՀ ՊՆ զորամասերից մեկի հրաձգարանում գլխի ճակատային շրջանում ստացած հրազենային վիրավորումով հայտնաբերվել է պարտադիր ժամկետային զինծառայող, շարքային Սևակ Հովհաննեսի Համբարձումյանը: Զինծառայողը մահացել է Կապանի քաղաքային հիվանդանոց տեղափոխվելու ճանապարհին: Այս մասին հայտնում է ՀՀ քննչական կոմիտեի կայքը:

ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարարությունն իր հերթին հաստատել է զինծառայողի մահվան լուրը՝ ցավակցություն հայտնելով զինծառայողի ընտանիքի անդամներին, հարազատներին ու ծառայակիցներին։

Զինծառայող Սևակ Հովհաննեսի Համբարձումյանի մահվան հանգամանքները պարզելու նպատակով քննություն է տարվում ՀՀ քննչական կոմիտեի զինվորական քննչական գլխավոր վարչության 9-րդ կայազորային քննչական բաժնում:

Քննության արդյունքների մասին լրացուցիչ տեղեկություն կտրամադրվի։
