I could be wrong but as I understand the border terrain is very rugged and the bridge will naturally become a choke point for moving heavy equipment across. The border is only 15 Km long. Without the bridge they may have to use heavy airlift and there is no other airfield that can handle big military transport aircraft other than Nakichevan civilian airport which is also a Azeri military base. It is the farthest it can be from the Armenian border so it will become a logistic problems in regards to heavy equipments and war machines.
Plus, I didn’t mean stopping an invasion but I meant impeding their efforts.

Interesting point about the airbase.. But,

how deep could Aras river be in that area? I doubt it would be a problem for BMP-2 or 3s to go through it, as for tanks and other heavy armour, they could find an area narrow enough to go through it. It's pretty flat area, not like the border near Ani.
If they are determind to go through a little bridge wont hold them back.

the first thing that has to go is that bridge and the airport IMHO. They wont have to go far to get into armenia though, just take left to get into M-2 right after the border. The M-2 is going to be very important in such a battle.

I'm sure they have an invasion plan since that time of that article. They're not idiots, but we have to be smarter.

The border terrain is not very rugged, it is completely flat and treeless. Nor is it "some old bridge" - the bridge is modern, concrete, four lanes wide, and reached by a highway from Igdir that is probably better than any road in Armenia. The river is not particularly wide, and the swampy lands that formerly existed (and which, in the 19th century, defined the route the current Turkey-Iran border still follows) are all drained. But this subject is so pointless, why waste time replying? My message to you is the same as that given to arakeretzig. Even in an Armenia run by complete morons, nobody there could ever be that stupid as to attempt to take even one inch of Nakhchivan's territory.
