Nagorno-Karabagh: Military Balance Between Armenia & Azerbaijan
Re: Nagorno-Karabagh: Military Balance Between Armenia & Azerbaijan
Armenian provocateur detained on contact line of Armenian, Azerbaijani troops
13 September 2010 [18:45] - Today.Az
All the recent attempts by the reconnaissance services of Armenia to implement provocative operations on the contact line were strongly suppressed, the press office of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said. Another attempt by Armenian provocative group in the north-western direction was prevented roughly at 17:00 local time on Sept. 11.
Provocateurs, not being able to finish, had to flee. But one of them was arrested. This is Manvel Mamikonovich Saribekyan. During interrogation it became known that they crossed the border to the Azerbaijani side upon the instruction of the Armenian special services. Currently, all circumstances of provocation are under investigation.

Inst that radar detectable??cant they shut down communication with satellite?

GPS unites require Satellites within range of sight and cthe signals annot be detected to a source. You need at least three but normally five or even six is needed in order to fix your position (including your altitude) or to point to a programmed location (a Fix, a target, an airport) which then can give you distance/time/heading information.........being external to the aircraft system it will continue to function even in case of total electrical failure as long as it has the appropriate signals from orbiting Satellites and battery power. However these type cannot be used for descent to landing (none-precision Approach) when flying in IMC (in clouds).
I have heard Russia’s satellite links are very lousy and there is no 24 hrs coverage, but this was years ago.
