I don't blame Russia for protecting itself, but blame them for not giving us any space. A friend should allow you to succeed and if not, they couldn't be your friend.
Could you please remind us what alliance do we have with the US.
Sure, we have agreements but as far as I am aware no alliances.
Unless you are confusing cooperation agreements with alliance.
,Politics is not about the pursuit of morality nor what's right or wrong
Its about self interest at personal and national level often at odds with the above.
Great politicians pursue the National interest and small politicians personal interests

The problem is mainly with opposition, that cannot convince neither Armenian people nor Russians that their activity is not about western sponsored putsch but fight against corruption.
Again the matter is not about capitalist or whatever system. This corruption was there in soviet times too.
In order to establish somehow fare system for majority, opposition has to focus on corruption, assemble healthy national concensus and force government change. Russians, like others, are watching how much our or any government represents its people. Corrupt government opens doors to manipulations that do not represent people.
As long as we do not have a government that functions on popular anti corruption ideology platform, it does not matter what system you adapt.
You may ask how it's possible to create such a government?
I don't know, how exactly. But I know, we cannot wait for Artsakh problem or Armenia's security to fall in such state that we have to act. It may be too late.
That is why fiew weeks ago I was talking about one possibility. A military putch.
Russia will not stand against that change because of ties to our military.Last edited by Haykakan; 06-11-2016, 07:17 AM.Hayastan or Bust.

Originally posted by Haykakan View PostThe main opposition parties are backed by foreign interests and that is why they are not convincing. Sure many people are trying to make good changes but the mainframe of the opposition is as corrupt as the ruling elites. I have not seen any opposition party that I could say I support. Ukraine is finding out that revolution does not mean better anything. I would say a putsch may not be a bad idea as the army is by far the most effective institution in the country. Winning wars is different than managing a country and the putsch would need to be followed by some transition to civilian led society. The problem is that we lack the strong institutions needed for such a society. I also agree that the system matters less than the motives of the leaders. The ruling elites in Armenia were never my idea of ideal leaders but if it meant security and prosperity I was ok with them for the time being. It seems both peace and prosperity are far from given now and the country has resumed its depopulation track. We are not the only ones who think this way and the arrival of the new-old cat in town from Russia is a sure sign of this. To save their arses the elites may revive a western push now as we have seen renewed talks with the eu. The elites were doing a good job of playing west vs east to their advantage for a while but their inability to improve conditions domestically has lead to a loss of confidence in them from Armenian society and also Russia. A putsch lead by the new cat and Ohanyan may produce positive results. It would not surprise me if the putsch already happened in a hushed manner. We will have to wait and see but I do like the way you think. We need to enhance Armenia's ability to pursue her own interests. If a putsch can achieve this then I am all for it.
At that time oligarchs that were spawned by Levon Ter Petrosian's ruling years just decapitated the leadership that was trying to implement controll over them.
About military putsch. As soon as it happens it has to remove embedded chinovniks from power, pass new elections of parliament guaranteeing true voting. After that military has to change constitution allowing it to be the third guarantor of government power and protect itself from retribution or power leadership demolition in case oligarchs or some dominant party decides to prevent it from replacing government again.
The whole thing should not take more than 8-12 months and then military has to step aside.
Looking back at some banana republic's stories, this is the only method I see for change. Otherwise one corrupt government replaces another endlessly and nothing changes.
But once this cycle is broken, there is a chance of bringing socio economic change.Last edited by Hakob; 06-11-2016, 07:58 AM.
