                • I didn't like the parade yesterday. I don't understand the sense of these units marching with historic uniforms from WWI/1918 and WWII. They could show these old uniforms as part of the exhibition, that would be enough. The part with the cavalry was a big fail. And why are they dancing cossack dances on our Republic Day. The Soviets wanted us to dance and speak Russian, we should't do this on this special day. Generally there was no need to integrate the history of our participation in the WWII in this parade.
But the biggest shock for me was to see that our army units have gotten religious banners. Are we crusaders now or what?

We always were! Not in the religious sense of it, but as an identity. The whole Muslim world proudly display the star and crescent on their flags. The shekelists their Armenian stolen six headed Star. While the so called Christian West does not want to offend anyone. It seams some of us are too influenced by neutrality?

Too influenced by neutrality??? No, my "friend", but the muslims and jews shouldn't be our scale. You are talking about symbols on flags. We have some indirectly christian symbols on our Coat of Arms as it is part of our history. That's normal. And many western states like Sweden, Switzerland, UK have even a cross on their flag. So I don't get your point.
State and church are seperated and this new trend to integrate the church and the religion in every aspect of life of our army with priests marching side-by-side with soldiers and soldiers marching with religious banners is completely wrong and against this principle. The armenian church has some privileges according to the constitution but these don't allow the church to infiltrate the army like this. Our regular army is an attribute of statehood, not a group of fedayis or medieval knights (with all due respect to our fedayis and medieval knights).
Btw to march in front of the secular government must also be inacceptable for the church. The katoghikos should bless our army, priests should be integrated in the psychological service of our army and that's all. But today our soldiers have to pray before every meal, they get a cross and a bible and even our parade in 2016 started with an obligatory prayer of the soldiers. In 1994 and 1998 there were only some blessing words of the Katoghikos. So, there are some new trends which are not okay. My relatives in the army told me the same.
