- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

Armenian Defense Ministry: Baku violates rights of Armenian captives

    20.03.2009 12:12 GMT+04:00

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Armenian soldiers in the Azeri captivity are being subjected to psychological pressure and violence.

The conduct demonstrated by the Azerbaijani authorities is a grave violation of the international law, colonel Seyran Shahsuvaryan, spokesman for the RA Defense Minster, told PanARMENIAN.Net.

“The Armenian side has always secured rights of the Azeri captives and never prevented communication with relatives,” he said. “The Armenian Defense Ministry brings to the notion of the international community and International Committee of the Red Cross that official Baku uses the captives as a tool of domestic and foreign policy.”

On the night of February 28, three soldiers of the NKR Defense Army crossed the Azeri border under unknown circumstances and were taken captives by the Azeri side.

Play any trick to be back to Armenia

The RoA Defence Ministry today issued a statement which says in part: "Armenian soldiers undergo psychical and moral repression, violation and harassment by Azerbaijani special services who aim to extort false statements from Armenian captives.

Azerbaijani officials' treatment towards Armenian captives is a rough breach of international rights, namely a violation of Geneva Conventions.

Meanwhile, the Armenian side has always given Azerbaijani war prisoners a chance to contact their relatives, have medical assistance and exercise other rights.

Contrary to this, the Azeri side has not given any information, even through the Red Cross International Committee, about an Armenian military captive, Paruyr Simonyan. Moreover, P. Simonyan has been deprived of his rights, which is a rough breach of the aforesaid conventions.

According to our verified sources, Azerbaijani captives returned to Azerbaijan by Armenia in conformity with the international norms, are also subject to torture: as a rule, they are exposed to criminal prosecution and sentenced to long years of prison.

The Ministry of Defence reconfirms its devotion to the international norms and calls the attention of international community and structures, especially the UNO and RCIC, to the fact that Azerbaijan uses war prisoners for home and foreign propaganda, demanding to put an end to this inhumane state activity.

"We also remind that all Armenian servicemen, including captives, are under the auspices of the Ministry, and we shall take every effort free them."

In the statement the Ministry of Defence also turns to the Armenian captives in Azerbaijan: "Soldiers, we fully understand the inhumane and desperate situation you have appeared in Azerbaijan. We know that Azerbaijani special services are capable of taking cruel and mean steps.

Yes, you breached the disciplinary norms of the military service and, appeared in the enemy's territory. But you are the sons of your Motherland, and even bearing responsibility for your mistakes is a characteristic quality of an Armenian man and soldier. In order to save your life you can play any possible trick on the enemy and find your way to the Homeland.

Remember, that your Motherland is looking forward to your return.

This is the call of your Homeland," says the statement.

More likely he is mentally unstable and has a psychological condition. It happens. Or alternatively the Azeri's are bribing him to do propaganda, and he has more loyalty to money than Armenia.

Bravo colonel Seyran Shahsuvaryan, telling it like it is. This kind of behaviors must be made known to the world and we must reveal their conduct in the eyes of the international community.

Zorovar. I went back to the beginning and read some of the posts on this thread. You have provided a lot of important and factual information.
Even though it has been speculated that Aliyev rhetoric and chess beating is nothing but a political stunt for NATO I feel fully confident that if ever conflict erupts again we are more than ready to deal them Baboons a loosing hand. Even by some miracle they were able to advance they could not hold their positions and they will pay a big price, they know that and are scarred about it.
The only thing I don’t like is our dependence on Russian fighter pilots and our reliance solely on Anti- Aircraft batteries. We cannot allow Azeris to have air superiority over our land and we cannot trust others to patrol and protect our airspaces when we have such limited supplies that can be taken out by their bombers and turn the tide or war overnight. We need our own squadrons not only for the Azeri threat but to maintain our own sovereignty and air superiority from any other threats.

An airforce is too expensive to upkeep for Armenia, i'd rather we get the best anti-air than for it to develop a mediocre air force. Remember that we did not have an air force in 1988-1994 either but we shot down many of the enemy's jets. Check this thread for air force information.

Unfortunately you are right, it won’t be easy for Armenia to purchase, maintain a fleet of fighters and bombers; this is not to mention pilot and maintenance training. The advantage though is that we will not be limited to defense alone but now will have the capability to strike deep inside enemy territory and take out strategic targets (much better than long range missles), not to mention the threat itself can deter Azeri aggression. I mean come on, an Armenian pilot against a Baboon behind the controls of a fighter jet? Unless we are going against Russian missionary pilots these Azeris won’t stand a chance, even with more advanced aircraft. They will engage us in dogfight with one hand on the ejection handle. Hahaha………

I remember when we released flour over the Azeri positions from a helicopter and they all deserted their posts thinking we are using chemical weapons and they ran like a bunch of rabbits.

Thanks for the link, I will check it out.

Besides the article's information on the military drills, I have bolded a little piece where it says "Armenian-occupied Aghdam district east of Karabakh". I seriously fkn hope that ArmeniaLiberty is trying to quote the "Azerbaijan media reports" mentioned in the same sentence because such a saying is ludacris and unacceptable from any Armenian person or media. We are not "occupying" Aghdam, Aghdam is historic Armenian territory that has been liberated. Secondly, Aghdam is not "east" of "Karabakh", Aghdam is part of the NKR/Artsakh republic.

Karabakh Armenians Hold Fresh Military Drill

                    By Emil Danielyan

Nagorno-Karabakh’s army has held a fresh military exercise aimed at testing and strengthening their combat readiness, a military spokesman in Stepanakert said on Friday.

Lieutenant-Colonel Senor Hasratian told the Arminfo news agency that the exercise was envisaged by an annual training plan of the Defense Army of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR). “The NKR Defense Army periodically holds such exercises,” Hasratian said, calling the latest drill a success.

Azerbaijani media reports have said the exercise began in the Armenian-occupied Aghdam district east of Karabakh earlier this week and involved heavy artillery and other military hardware. According to them, heavy fire could heard and even seen in recent days from Azerbaijani-controlled areas across the nearby line of contact separating Karabakh Armenian and Azerbaijani forces.

Aydyn Mirzazade, a senior Azerbaijani lawmaker dealing with defense and security, condemned the war-games on Thursday, saying that they are aimed at intimidating the people of Azerbaijan. “Instead of holding constructive negotiations and liberating Azerbaijani lands, Armenia holds provocative military exercises,” he told the Day.az news service. “But the Azerbaijani army is ready to repel any aggression.”

The Karabakh Armenian army already practiced military operations in the same area last October. That exercise was watched by Armenian President Serzh Sarkisian and the top NKR leaders.

Nagorno-Karabakh’s army has held a fresh military exercise aimed at testing and strengthening their combat readiness, a military spokesman in Stepanakert said on Friday.
