      AZERBAIJAN BOUGHT 263 VARIOUS ARTILLERY SYSTEMS IN 2005-2010

      Baku. Rashad Suleymanov - APA. The South Caucasian republics purchased
      636 artillery systems from various countries of the world in 2005-2010.

      APA reports quoting the UN Register of Conventional Arms that they
      purchased 355 mine throwers, 137 howitzers, 107 self-propelled
      artillery systems, 37 reactive fire systems.

      Azerbaijan is the biggest buyer of artillery system among the South
      Caucasian countries. Azerbaijan bought 263 various artillery systems.

      Armenia takes the second place with 210 artillery systems and Georgia
      is the third with 163 artillery systems.

      Azerbaijan bought 54 2S1 "Gvozdika", 6 2S3 "Akatsiya", 12 2S7 "Pion"
      self-propelled artillery systems, 85 D-30 guns, 85 PM-38 mine throwers,
      11 9A52 "Smech", 10 RAK-12 reactive fire systems.

      Georgia bought 22 152mm "Dana", 7 2S7 "Pion", 6 2S3 "Akatsiya"
      self-propelled artillery systems, 42 howitzers, 70 mine throwers
      (25 120mm, 15 122mm, 30 60mm) and 16 reactive fire systems.

      Armenia bought 200 75mm mine throwers. Armenia bought this weapon
      from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Though Bosnia showed this information
      in its report to UN, these weapons were reflected in Armenia's report.

      Armenia also bought 10 122mm D-30 guns from Belarus.

      The South Caucasian republics bought the artillery systems mostly
      from Bosnia and Herzegovina (235), Ukraine (224), the Czech Republic
      (67), Bulgaria (54), Belarus (52) and Israel (4).

          Azerbaijani Internal Troops’ soldier shot dead

          Baku. Hafiz Heydarov – APA. A soldier served in the Internal Troops of Azerbaijan was shot dead.

          The incident occurred in the Internal Troops’ military base in NZS settlement, APA reports. Soldier Kenan Novruz Namazov called up by the military commissariat of Yevlakh region of Azerbaijan was shot dead by Sergeant Hikmet Azizov.
          Spokeswoman for the Internal Troops Tarana Mammadova confirmed this fact to APA and said the incident occurred as a result of casual handling of weapon.

            Georgian citizen dies in Azerbaijan falling into propeller turbine of military aircraft

            Baku. Hafiz Heydarov – APA. A disastrous occurrence took place in Azerbaijani Defense Ministry’s airfield in Taghiyev settlement, APA reports.

            Yuriy Kulachkov fell into the propeller turbine, when he was preparing Su-25 of the Azerbaijani Air Forces for the training flight. He died at site.

            Spokesman for the Defense Ministry Captain Teymur Abdullayev told APA that the incident took place on December 26. Georgian citizen Yuriy Kulachkov, who was detached to the military base in Taghiyev settlement, died as a result of falling into the propeller turbine through carelessness.
