Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Unlike all the other formerly Soviet republics in Central Asia, Tajikis are an Iranian people, whose language is more or less mutually intelligible with modern Farsi (the former is written in Russian-style Cyrillic letters, while the latter in Arabic script). The Tajiks may be banking on "big brother" in Tehran to save them if their gamble with Russia does not pay off. I agree they are playing with fire, and this is an extremely short-sighted move on the part of their leadership. Hypothetically, Iran stepping up its presence in Central Asia would result in pressure on it from Russia, turkey, pakistan, afghanistan, the United States as well as the Sunni muslim fanatics active in the region. I don't think Iran is in any position to embark on any such project.

Contrast Tajikstan with Armenia, where the government granted Russia an extended lease on their bases in Gyumri and Erebuni and goes out of its way to make the Russians feel welcome. We may lose out on rent, but its more than made up for if it results in Armenia being granted top of the line military equipment for free. I seriously hope that officials in the Kremlin take notice of this behavior and that soon we'll hear about a new wave of arms shipments to Armenia.

On an interesting side note, Russia is currently on an upgrading spree, and they plan to retire several still potent units such as the Mil Mi-24 in favor of new procurements such as the Mi-28 in the next few years. It sure would be nice if some of those units were sent to Armenia and Artsakh for their "retirement".

Thank you, Sarkis. I forgot the possible Tajik-Persian connection. My thought though is that US is behind this...as well as the recent Uzbekistan departure from the CSTO.

6,169 dead 4,008 wounded Turks in 28 years!

Three entire regiments of Turkish armed forces have eliminated the last 28 years of conflict in Kurdistan and the undeclared war with Greece in Aegean Sea!

In fact, during the period from 1984 until June 8, 2012 the Turkish forces had killed a total of 6169 (şehit) and 4,008 injured (gazi) for their involvement in operations in Kurdistan and the Aegean Sea, where pilots are clearly much less the grand total!

Here are the details for each grade. out of otherwise dead "clean" armed forces of different stratochorofylakis:

                A. Dead (şehit), total 6169
                -Officers: 411
                -Non-commissioned officers: 375
-Officials and soldiers permanently stratochorofylakes: 585
-Non-commissioned officers and conscripts soldiers: 4,798

                b injured (gazi), total 4008
                -Officers: 256
                -Non-commissioned officers: 263
-Officials and soldiers permanently stratochorofylakes: 401
-Non-commissioned officers and conscripts soldiers: 3,088

Impressive is the fact that the dead are 1.5 times more than injured, which is certainly not normal, but illustrates the cruelty of the conflict and the indifference of the Turkish leadership to civilian casualties.

Something surely must have puzzled the Greek side: A determined opponent to lose many men in order to achieve its objective function is a very dangerous opponent ...

The Czech Republic wants to sell the potential of T-72
                  13-07-2012 12:40:20

x The Czech defense ministry completes the process for selling in the international market 134 tanks T-72 maintained in storage.

The decision is part of defense cuts agreed last year, and according to which the army of central European country will maintain the service until 30 tanks modernized T-72M4 CZ. Note that the 1990 and just before the end of the Cold War, the land forces of the then Czechoslovakia single attempt on the 3,000 tanks, and even after the "velvet" divorce with Slovakia, the Czech army attempted about 1,600 tanks .

Under current law the 134 T-72 will be sold to private companies, which have two years to sell them to foreign customers or to destroy them. According to the representative of the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic in the past through this process tanks were sold to Algeria.

I love the way you think!

BTW the Czechs have a great respect for us, they are true Eastern Euro people. One thing to note, these are not normal T72's remember the Germans got the Czech factories, they used Czech made tanks to great effect in WWII. Some even say without the Czechs Armor the Germans would not be in the same position in WWII as they used those factories and armor to great effect. I am also of the same camp of thought! Funny how the Germans made the best Armor in WWII but they still were willing to use Czechs Armor! Thats how good their armor was! At the time anyway, they never got the chance to finish what they started the Czechs are some fine Armor builders.

Hey Czechosloyakia Armenia will give you 2 dollars less for each tank becuase we don't have money...what do you think the Czechs will say? Lets ask them!

So next stop Nachichevan, feck Baku, with Global warming it will be under water

We are Armo’s not amphibians ..
