    Azerbaijani army gains control of height at border with Armenia – Defense Ministry

    Baku. Hafiz Heydarov – APA. Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry on Monday confirmed media reports that the country’s army has gained the control of the height of Odundagh at the border with Armenia.

    A number of web-based media outlets in Azerbaijan have published reports citing Armenian sources that the Azerbaijani army has taken control of the height of Odundagh located somewhere between Azerbaijan’s Gazakh district and Armenia’s Noyemberyan district and that surrounding Armenian territories can now be clearly observed, the ministry’s press service told APA.

    The defense ministry confirmed the fact, noting that Azerbaijani armed units have seized the height due to its strategic importance and fortified it in terms of combat engineering.

      They have not captured any armenian controlled terrirtory, its a place where the border is weird and Azerbaijan controls some of Armenian offiicial territory and vice versa the Loc doesnt exactly follow the official border.
      If Armenia captured these heights there would be an azeri village inside armenian controlled territory.

        Not true
        From razm.info: http://razm.info/79524
        Blue = Armenian villages
        Red = Azeri villages
        Star = Odundagh
        Orange = border situation
        Green = internationally recognized border

        Congratulations to the mighty Azeri army, they just occupied a mountain inside their own border.

            Price the next comparable trainor that's not Russian made. You'll find USA/Brit prices are stupid + their trainers aren't battle fit but exclusive trainers. 15 mil for that plane is almost a giveaway. Really cheap!!
            Su 30sm of 40 mil compared to eurofighter over a hundred mil is fantastic. One on one Indian airforce killed eurofighter all day long.
            Russian plane costs for product is minimum 1/3 of the inflated west's.

                This happens from time to time. I remember one episode distinctly in 2002- just east of the Agham region LoC, the Azeris reoccupied an abandoned and deserted village that the Armenians deemed militarily worthless/non-strategic when they briefly took it in 1993 (Armenian forces in the summer of 1993 quickly rolled in but moved back to the current LoC a few days after its taking due to its disadvantageous and exposed position- it was essentially inside Azeri lines to begin with and stayed that way after their departure. Anyway, the Azeris sent a few state news crews, etc to cover the "reconquest". It was covered purely and blatantly for domestic consumption and for Azeri morale. When it became obvious to the Azeri journalists (even the state ones) and viewers that it was an unoccupied position inside their own lines (though linear to the no-man's land between the sides/LoC), it was no longer mentioned in the media...but for a few hours the Azeris were quite ecstatic.

                  REPORT ON AZERI ARMY SUCCESSFUL OPERATION IN AGHDAM REGION NOTHING ELSE THAN MISINFORMATION
                  01.08.2002

                  /PanARMENIAN.Net/ The reports of the Azeri media on allegedly «successful operation and 1-kilometer advance» of the Azeri Army in the Aghdam region does not correspond to the reality. Nagorno-Artsax Defense Army press department head, major Senor Hasratian has stated that in his interview with «De-Facto» agency commenting on the «ANS» TV company reports according to which « Aghdam region Yusifjanli village that was controlled by the Nagorno-Artsax Army was allegedly liberated» as a result of the operation of the Azeri military units. «They just do not want to accept the reality», Hasratian stated.

                  And here it was finally refuted:

                  AZERBAIJANI DEFENSE MINISTRY REPOT ABOUT VILLAGE "LIBERATING"

                  Azerbaijani Turan news agency dismissed on August 1 an earlier Report by ANS television station claiming that Azerbaijani armed Forces have taken back a village near the town of Aghdam 42 days ago.

                  A spokesman for Azerbaijani defense ministry Ramiz Melikov was quoted as saying that the TV station's report and the news in media based on the repot did not correspond to reality. "No village has been taken back and no soldiers were killed in "the battle," he said.

                      We joined Russia's Eurasian Union, and this year our budget shrank for the 1st time since independence, because in the EEU, the customs tax of imports is split between countries, and Russia's shrinked because of importing sanctions on the EU. We are a member of CSTO, Gazprom controls everything in terms of gas supplies, Rosneft controls all of the petrol market. There is no reason Russia will not prop us up. Some 10 jets is nothing for Russia. Also, this is not Armenia of 1995.

                      I will tell you one thing, after living in Lebanon for 25 years, if we are not strong, NO ONE will respect us, even your best neighbour which you drink coffee with.
                      Thats right.....Russia is arming its allies. Freaking wolfs shot down an Russian jet? how dare they.

                      If we do get that trust vectoring high speed long range dogfighting bird..........our pilots will be fighting each other to see who flies it first. I am sure most should get sim time before getting in the seat.
                      Lets hope its true.......I would want one squadron (4 to 6 planes).
