I read a while ago a kid in Armenia, built a laser device that can knock drones out of the sky. I'm not sure if it was our Prime Minister that went out to the school were he built this device.. it was actually meant to disturb frequency etc but after the 4 day war he changed his plan to target drone systems.

        WRONG

Ever heard of a UAV engaging aircraft or other UAVs? they are strictly for ground attack and recon use.

You guys also put to much trust in Ground to air missiles or long range ground to ground missiles with accuracy of a kid shooting a sling shot. Plus, our country is nowhere close to have these UAVs, Russia doesn't have them. US has the best but they won't stand a chance against Fifth Gen fighters.....hell even even older aircraft. Our enemies (Turkey and Azerbaijan) fly manned aircraft.

UAVs can't carry much weapons and have short range. Even the predator couldn't stand up to Mig 21.

I think the concern is you spend an enormous amount of money per unit (plus training, fuel, hangars, parts), and then the odds of that unit being shot down by the myriad advanced air defenses in the region are incredibly high. US vs. Russia's finest AA is a stalemate. Further, since Armenia will not be invading deeply into either of its filthy neighbors, we are ultimately focussed on a defensive posture. With the Russian deal, we have near certainty on shooting down NATO aircraft- when the idiots to the west shot down the Russian fighter jet, Russia turned on it's AA systems and Turks knocked it off immediately.

Your right Eddo of course. All these arguments about SAM's making air force obsolete only shows lack of understanding. The one and only reason to not have a full air force is money and money alone.

If fighter jets weren’t used by neither sides during the last war, when would they be used? As a last resort suicide?
Even if we purchase advanced jets, would the Russian 600KM radius jamming systems going to stay exclusively with the Russian forces?
We have seen how Russia made a mockery of US ships in the Black Sea by jamming all of their communications. We have seen how Sheepishly NATO forces had to wait till Russia was done with Syria, with back door peddling they took over when Russia told them when. All because of the Jamming systems. Won’t be long, half of the world will have something similar. In short, if you are not a superpower you have to come up with creative ways for your defense. Specially if your enemy is +- at your level. << The ideal scenario for one of the big guys to make money selling both sides. I say we should build 10 dirty bombs and test one of them, make it public and be done.

So we are purchasing all those equipment and on top we getting S400 systems? Honestly I wouldn't believe it till I see it with my own eyes. This year has been a year of solid bull crap. What ever happened to those AR1A systems? No one confirmed anything .. then a war started and we started to unveil 70s made tanks. Nothing in our arsenal is modern. Even our military gear looks used.
