Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

  • Republic of Armenia to build 3rd highway to Artsakh on Aras coastline

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia will build 3rd highway to Artsakh. The information was passed by the President of Artakh, Bako Sahakyan on October 15 during his meeting with Lebanese-Armenian businessmen.

Group of shareholders of Artsakh Roots Investment (ARI) company (founded by over 200 mostly Lebanese-Armenian businessmen) which included about 25 people, was in Artsakh from October 13-16 for a regular visit in order to learn about the results of the previous years, have meetings with officials of Artakh as well as discuss organisational details of “Artsakh-2018” conference, reports civilnet.am.

During the meeting with shareholders of ARI, Bako Sahakyan stated that the 3rd, Southern highway between Armenia and Artsakh is planned to be built on Aras coastline very soon.

Bako Sahakyan also stated that Vardenis-Martakert highway not only has increased the security of Artsakh but also had an economic effect: in particular tourism in the region has increased, food and service points as well as hydropower stations were and are being built on the coastlines of Tartar and Lev rivers.

After the war in Artsakh, Hayastan All Armenian Fund started the construction of Goris-Stepanakert highway. The second road connecting Armenia to Artsakh, Vardenis-Martaket highway was opened in September 2017. The road was built with the donations of all Armenians- with the support of the means collected during TV marathons in 2013 and 2014 by Hayastan All Armenian Fund and the governments of Armenia and Artsakh.

    • Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry talks creation of Sydney settlement in occupied Kalbajar

      Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 17

      By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has commented on the information spread in the Armenian media regarding the creation of the Sydney settlement in the occupied Kalbajar district of Azerbaijan, as well as the construction of a new road connecting the occupied Azerbaijani districts along the Araz River with Armenia.

“Armenia’s continued illegal activity in the occupied Azerbaijani territories, contrary to the spirit of the negotiation process and discussions at the CIS summit in Dushanbe, is detrimental to international efforts to resolve the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,” the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in a message on Oct. 17.

"This once again demonstrates that the words of Armenia contradict its actions - the non-constructive position of that country and lack of interest in the conflict settlement through negotiations," the message said.

"The change of demographic situation by Armenia in the occupied Azerbaijani territories and other similar actions are a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law. The issue of illegal actions in the occupied Azerbaijani territories is constantly raised at international organizations," the message said.

I approve this smart move. One day this highway will connect Meghri to Nakhichevan and Yerevan.

So it is hard to find what dencent AA you can consider.

In 1982, Malvinas war, the Argentinians had a pretty fair air defense system and not that much outdated air force, against revolutionary UK Sea Harriers, having major logistical vulnerability, and largely outnumbered.

The air defenses of Yougoslavia /Serbia were outnumbered against NATO, yet they had some 'decency', notably in the professionalism of their crews.
They were smashed by the mere mathematics, and on the edge US stealth technologies...
Yet they had Mig 29-s, as did the saddam Air force ...

              The Iran-Irak war

I'm afraid, the only war where Air defense prevailed against overwhelming air force is the first Artsakh War....
Actually in Falkland war Argentina did not have any AA missile system deployed in war theater or in mainland against British harriers, while British aircraft were operating under AA protection of their navy, along with advanced air to air and jamming sistems.
In Yugoslavia, Serbs were defending with 1960s era S200 s against 4 and 5th generation aircraft. In desert storm or any other war since 1980 western aircraft have not faced equally modern or capable AA sistems.
This proves my point that against an equal AA technology Air Force is just waist of resources.
korean or Vietnam wars prove this.
Vietnamese batteries inflicted devastating losses on US Air Force.
While US has resources, other countries that do not have Boeing or Northrop Grumman scale factories to quickly replace lost assets, will quickly become Airforce less losers.
In long run, my bet is with modern, tiered and flexible anti aircraft defence sistems being decisive.
