Taking it? perhaps thats true. But taking it doesn't mean you could keep it. trying to control azerbaijan, that is almost 20x greater in area than nagorno-karabakh is not feasible for the "arstakh" army. concentrating a 100'000 armenians in karabakh and defending it is feasible. but spreading the army out to try to control a country of 9 million azeris is logistically unfeasible.

going after baku would've left the armenians stratching themselves too thin.

thats why i think there might be status quo. Initially i thought azerbaijan would crush the "arstakh" army now with its recently aquired toys, but karabakh is densely concentrated with defense. This time, we could expect the karabakh army to take a severe beating even if won't suffer defeat. Will it hold up? time will tell.

armenians launching an offensive into azerbaijan, i find that unlikely. surviving with a huge beating? that seems like the scenario (assuming russsia doesnt interven.) emerging magnificently with great feats equvalent to miracles? i find that too, unlikely.

if russia intervenes, then i think azerbaijan could kiss control over karabakh bye bye for another couple of decades.

Who said anything about keeping it, and even their new toys they have to have an upper hand of 5 to 1. That's the great thing when you are defending. And how long can they attack because haysatan can trow reserves and veterans of the last war. Many of them are ready to take up arms again and fight.

Technology never wins a war nor do numbers. Look at Afganistan America with the most powerful army can't win the war there. So why do you think they will have a better chance attacking upwards and than be able to break through the lines. After the intial stage Armenia can move forward with it's forces in the lower parts, the only that needs to be taken out fast is their air force.

Ultimately, there is going to be another showdown that's going to redraw the lines. and another one after that. and another one after that. until the human population of the region become extinct or get replaced. the only thing we could do is take bets right now. my money is on a status quo if another war breaks out - virtually no change (i define no change within the limits of +/- 5% change in land.

nobody is gonna put it up for sale and no one is gonna concede. otherwise it would have happened already. the only way concessions are gonna be made is if georgia or iran become hostile and close their borders to armenia. then armenia is in deep trouble.

Georgia doesn't have the balls for that because closing the border is an act of war I believe and they wouldn't want to lose the half of their country and Iran hasn't closed the border during the war so it wouldn't do it now.

And the land being conquered will depend on when a new cease fire will be signed or when Russia will save the Azeris, the last war do you know there was no army between our forces and Baku. We could have taken it, so everything depends on the time and how hard we strike back.

Yes well if you rename all your squares after Russia the population is going to start thinking that way. All we have to offer Russia is some space for a military base and the type of 'symbolic' prostitution of our culture that just happened on the last visit. Moscow square or whatever BS that was!

Anyways, Im not for conceding Artsakh I just wanted to bring up the idea and discuss some of the realities of our country (i.e CSTO is made of Turkic muslim countries, Russia really doesn't care about us, and Azerbaijan is preparing for a war doubletime)..... I wanted to discuss and see your views and I did. Also, Im not a hyastanci but Im definatley not a "levonakan", Serzh is doing big things from what I read, but I really dont know.

An Armenian who is ready to sell Artsakh to the enemy, do you even now a person from Hayastan. If I were you i would go and read a little more about the years before the war and after teh war. After that I ope you can understand what has happened in Hayastan. If you still can say to give up Artshakh say it than. I don't think you realize what hayastan went through in those days, because of the turks.

And Turkic doesn't mean Turkish. Two diffrent things Hayastan has great relations with Central Asian countries.

Russia & CSTO (which is most comprised of Turic Muslim nations for your information) have already stated that they are not to get involved in military actions between Artsakh or Azerbaijan. The only time they will step in is if Armenia proper is under seige, and even then I doubt their capacity to fight their Religious and Ethnic brothers. Basically all we have is Russia, and we all know how much their word counted for when they gave Karabakh away in the first place, when they deported us to the Gulags etc etc.
