whatever, it was just a hypothetical, and I'd still like to know the $ amount of it if any of you have an idea...like how much is an acre of land there?

Either way you're losing money, but it's only through one way that you lose lives as well.

Ara, you don't seem to understand the urgency and the importance of the matter. Many expressed their views on this Forum and ArmSurvival just now above explained it to you again in detail the ultimate importance of keeping Artsakh that is priceless. What the enemy (azeries and turks) want is to see Armenia off the map of the world altogether. If you give up Artsakh they'll cut us off from our Iranian neighbour by claiming Suinyk and their deranged and stupid dream of pan-turkism will come true. Next it'll be the rest of Armenia that they would have made it much smaller and much weaker. Get this through your head; Artsakh does not have a price because she is priceless. Artsakh and much more of today's so called azeri lands was Armenia for centuries. Why pay them any price of money for our anscestral lands that we already fought for in 1988-92 and won the war magnificently? That piece of land and much more belongs to us period. Next we should work on Naxichevan that the low life Stalin simply gave it away to them what it was ours ARMENIAN LANDS.

I think you don't understand the situation. Artsakh is extremely vital for Armenia's national security. Azerbaijan's goal is to connect Nakhichevan to the rest of their country and leave Armenia landlocked between Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia, which will be the end of our country as we know it. As soon as we give up Artsakh, do you honestly think Azerbaijan will not use it as a springboard to launch an attack on Siunik? Have they done anything in their history to make you think they will just leave us alone?

Also, what will stop them from claiming other lands which have never belonged to them? They already claim Yerevan. Giving up Artsakh is not just a terrible precedent, its national suicide.

Land when it is not bountiful, does not have its price and can only be lost through bloodshed. Especially when people's livelihood depend on their claim to that land. Why do you think Ter-Petrosian was forced to step down? Maybe because he would agree with you?

The difference is that this time, Turkey might take a larger role than just closing the borders, and the USA along with many European countries would back Azerbaijan, because Azerbaijan has oil, and is a source of energy Independence from Russia for Europe. Azerbaijan also makes for a better strategic ally in the middle east against Iran and in the Caucasus against Russia. Even if we won this possible future war, we'd still have to spend money on the military, and have to sacrifice lives also. So now instead of just losing money, we have to give up lives as well, just for the sake of dignity. Artsakh is just priceless.

    Change your name to Arda.
*It would have been un-Armenian had i said, "let's just give it up b/c it's a lost cause" or something to that effect.

*Nothing is priceless, everything has a value, and everyone has a price.

*Yeah let me get right on that. I'll Change my middle name from Oliver to Olivia too

In our current state, we'd be lucky if we even got half of it. So i was just wondering, if it could be settled with money instead of another possible war sometime in the future, wouldn't it be better to pay for it in cash and be done with it, than to spend a lot of money and peoples lives on another war that we'd probably loose?

That's not true. We might eventually lose some of the buffer zone outside of Artsakh, but we will keep most of it. Our forces are strong enough not to retreat.

Also, even bringing up the idea of "paying" the Azeris for the land implicitly recognizes that they have some sort of property right to that land. They don't; it belongs to us and they are occupying it. Same goes for Turgay.
