Re: IRAN declared itself a nuclear nation

NK is a vile place and other than the small step in nuclear technology, they're military is rather out dated as are all other sectors of their economy, and the people live under worse conditions than when the Japanese were there in the early 20th century, which was horrid in and of itself.

Cuba is a leader in Latin America in terms of culture, athletics, and of course, healthcare. For the u.s. it is more a point of pride and votes from the influential cuban community of south florida, than real disagreements. Unlike in 1959 when Castro came to power, there is no red scare now, communism is dead so the average American can't be fooled as easily as in the 60s.

That all depends on what you value in life

Not to go off topic (Allah forbid) but... on the topic of nukes
North Korea threatens to attack if US and South Korea hold joint military drills next month

I always speak the truth... you just have to learn to read between the lines, lol. Well for NK, they are still stuck in WWII era fending off the Americans. For Cuba, they are still using cars from the 50's... had they conceded to defeat, they'd be fat and commercialized like their American counterparts. Iran can build their own cars since they had built automotive plants there with the help of Americans during WWII.

Iran is different since it doesn't need outside technology and is capable to advance on its own which is a great threat to powerful people who seek to have monpolies in every aspect of business.

Kim Jong Il just wants to be a director in Hollywood, if they just gave him his dream he would stop playing around and reunite the peninsula; but that's just common sense speaking there.

Korea was ruled by Japan until Japan lost its power in WWII. As Japan was defeated, Russia and the US divided Korea. The North wanted to take the South away from America's grip which is why there are still American soldiers stationed in the south. Not just a small presence but about 40 installations and 2 air bases. North Korea has every right to defend its sovereignty and oust foreign occupation.

As for Iran itself, would I prefer Iran to be like Lebanon (a secular democracy), but as is the issue with poor countries democracy doesn't solve everything; look at Thailand where the poor and rich support different parties.

Finally with North Korea, it attacked (on urging of the Russians) and tried to conquer the South. The US responded and defeated the invasion, and attempted to take over North Korea; which went fine until MacArthur went mad and entered China wanting to nuke and take it over. Ironically South and North Korea would be one country if MacArthur had stayed away from China. As for the government, it was a fascist dictatorship of a sort; the South Koreans only got democracy by fighting for it themselves.
