PanARMENIAN.Net - It’s been several weeks since Azerbaijanis have been voicing severe concern over developing Armenia-Iran relations. Obviously, numerous anti-Iranian meetings in Baku and Ankara aim to force Tehran to turn away from Yerevan.

Thus, on February 4, Turkish citizens of Azerbaijani origin organized a rally in front of Iranian embassy in Ankara. Rally participants laid a black wreath at Iranian embassy, demanding Iran to stop cooperation with Armenia and interference in Azerbaijan’s internal affairs.

February 9 Baku-hosted rally against “Iran’s officials’ disrespectful attitude to Azerbaijan and establishing closer relations with Armenia” was dispersed by the police. Most probably, Azerbaijani authorities aimed to show their non-involvement in organisation of suchlike rallies.

Some assumptions suggest that anti-Iranian rallies are caused by Baku’s fear for Islamic revolution which might be provoked by increasing influence of Islam in Azerbaijan.

However, it should be kept in mind that Iran has rejected a request to provide Azerbaijan with a corridor along Arax River for attacking Fizuli, Jebrail and Zangelan. According to Echo newspaper, Baku negotiated the issue in autumn 2010 and experienced complete failure. In exchange for the corridor, Baku promised to take a neutral stand in case of a war against Iran. Clearly, Baku cannot forgive Iran’s refusal.

While Azerbaijan tries to exacerbate Iran-Armenia ties, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has scheduled a visit to Armenia. Return visit of Armenian President to Iran is planned as well as his participation in Novruz festivities. “Mutual visits of parliament speakers and other officials are also expected,” Iran’s ambassador to Armenia Seyed Ali Saghaeyan stressed.

Apparently, yet another attempt of Azerbaijan to “harm” Armenia has failed.

Other MPs have tried to focus attention on Iran’s close relationship with Armenia. Tehran’s close ties to Yerevan, “allows the aggressor to continue its policy against Azerbaijan,” claimed Democratic Reforms Party leader Asim Mollazade. The recent announcement of plans to build an Iranian oil pipeline to Armenia has generally fallen under this same categorization.

Adding to the public message, Diaspora groups such as the Global Congress of Azerbaijanis and the International Center of the Diaspora, have picketed the Iranian Embassy in Baku, chanting slogans such as “A single Azerbaijan with Tabriz [the largest city in Iran’s ethnic Azeri province of East Azerbaijan -- ed] as its capital!” or, in reference to Armenia, “Iran is a friend of the enemy of Muslims!

(Your colleagues on here have gotten private emails far more serious than the pictures you've posted here. Use your time better and help your country. Aliyev better be scared of Iran - if one Iranian gets his hands on Aliyev, you can be certain that they'd tear his mustache off and pin it to his A**. I hope that Russia does NOT want a Pan-Turkic entity (= Turks/Israel/U.S./Nato) surrounding it. Unfortunately Russia also tends to sometimes be short-sided on these issues. Did you read the history of how this all happened?

I've never attacked Iran. Gotten private emails about what what? How do you know that?

Unfortunately Russia also tends to sometimes be short-sided on these issue. Did you read the history of how this all happened?

Russia is our closest military and historic ally in the region. They have saved us more than once from being invaded by the Turks. (for example during Karabakh War).

@ Mos, If it makes you feel better about the mosque in Yerevan, the architecture is pre-Islamic - as it is with all Persian mosques. In fact the church in Julfa and many other churches are in that style: Look up Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore is the cathedral church (Duomo) in Florence, Italy.

How many times do you need to write this? Modern-Russia is also Iran's ally - I'm referring to Stalin and documents from the USSR. My sources you ask? The USSR itself.

Do me a favor:

1. Explain step-by-step, how Armenia lost 3/4 of its land following Russia removing Armenia from the Persian Empire.
2. State whether the Armenian Genocide took place after Russia removed Armenia from the Persian Empire.
3. State whether Pan-Turkists are trying to eliminate Armenia completely, and what you are doing to resist that besides writing "Realpolitik" over-&-over to my posts.

Unfortunately, the Zionists are so powerful that even Russia is not immune to their pressure. Russia canceled the sale of S-300s to Iran under pressure from the USA and Israel. It speaks volumes when a country cancels hundreds of millions of dollars of weapons sales based on a couple of countries b!tching, especially when one of them is their unofficial enemy. Usually, the Kremlin waves with a single finger and sells all weapons left and right. It's either this or something happened between Russia and Iran that the public does not know about.

I think the Russians got something in return for this. Maybe the u.s. and Israel have lowered their support for Tiflis and the rearmament of the Georgian military. Also, Russia declared gadaffi as persona non grata and had plans to supply arms to them as well.
