Catholicos Aram I of the Great House of Cilicia is concerned over the
escalated situation in Syria.

The press service of the Great House of Cilicia said the Catholicos is
being informed about the situation in the Syrian-Armenian community
through the Primate of the Beirut Diocese of the Armenian Church
Shahan Sargsyan.

Aram I voiced his wish to depart for Syria to support the Armenian
community, the press release of the Great House reports. The
leadership of the Armenian community, though, considered the
Catholicos' visit inexpedient, taking into consideration the current
tensed situation there.

In any case the Catholicos has reiterated his wish to visit the
Armenian community.

One more Syrian Armenian died in Damascus

YEREVAN, JULY 21, ARMENPRESS: Syrian citizen of Armenian origin died
in Syrian capital Damascus on July 20. In the briefing with Armenpress
Armenian Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Tigran Balayan told the
causes of death are yet unknown.

The victim is 48-year-old Andranik Arzvaljyan, xxxeler by profession.
In accordance with the data provided by Syrian Human Rights
Organization, 17 thousand 192 people died in the course of 16 months
ongoing clashes .In accordance with Arab media , 11 thousand 897
peaceful citizens and 4348 security officers became the victim.
There were 6 Armenians among the victims, 2 out of which -servicemen.
A large number of Syrians are leaving the country, acquiring refugee
status. Recently Armenian Community representatives are also quitting
the borders of teh state. The applications handed over by them aimed
at either receiving refugee status or permanent shelter are being
discussed by accelerated procedure, within ten days.

Catholicos of Cilicia leaving for Syria

Yerevan, July 21, ARMENPRESS: Aram I Catholicos of the Great House of
Cilicia is concerned about the alarming situation in Syria over months
and is regularly informed about the events by the leader of the
diocese of the Armenian Church in Beirut. Last week Catholicos Aram I
expressed desire to leave for Syria to stand by the Armenian
community, but those who are responsible for the community did not
find it appropriate for the Catholicos to visit that country
especially in these tense circumstances.

As `Armenpress' was informed by Antilias, His Holiness reaffirmed his
desire to leave for Syria any time to stand by the faithful sons of
Armenia as a pontiff.

Catholicos of Cilicia noted that the internal unity of the Armenian
community in Syria is a necessity: during the alarming situation the
Armenian community should act collectively.

Coming to the issue to assist the needy families His Holiness noted
that as a Chairman of the Council of Middle East, he commended the
responsible office of council to contact with the families and
regularly provide the necessary assistance.

Catholicos attached importance to the Syrian Armenians standing for
their rights in these difficult conditions.

`The Armenian community of Syria is organized and will remain so. The
Syrian Armenians are against emigration', His Holiness added.

Catholicos of Cilicia is concerned about the state of the Armenian schools.

The Armenian community responsible staff assured Aram I that there is
no emigration of Armenians from Syria: The Syrian Armenians left for
Armenia, spend their summer holidays.

Syria's Armenian community guarantees Armenians' presence in Middle

YEREVAN. - The Armenian community in Syria must be preserved at any
cost, Arab Studies specialist Armen Petrosyan stated during a press
conference on Saturday.

In his words, this community enables the Armenians to consolidate
their presence in the region.

`There are 60 thousand Armenians living in Syria, whose population is
23 million. They have their representative in the country's
government, and this means the community plays an important role. The
Armenian Apostolic Church functions there, there are Armenian
organizations, cultural centers, and today it is very important to
ensure their safety,' the Arab Studies specialist noted.

The analyst also stressed that Syrian Armenians are very united and organized.

`This is proven by the fact that no action has yet been taken against
the Syrian Armenians. [And] This is a result of prudent neutrality,'
said Petrosyan, and brought the example of the Lebanese civil war.

`The Beirut Armenians had united at that time and were able to
surmount that ordeal on the account of [adopting a] correct stance.
[And] Today Syrian Armenians face such problem,' Armen Petrosyan said.

"The Armenian authorities not only follow the development of events in
Syria, but have also taken corresponding steps on different levels and
in different directions. The efforts are first of all targeted at
ensuring the security of Syrian Armenians, providing normal living
conditions to the Armenian community and preserving the
historical-cultural heritage," Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey
Manasaryan declared today.

He added, however, that the promulgation of the efforts could
negatively affect the results. Therefore, he refrained from going into
details.

"I should add that these issues are in the focus of attention of
leaders during international meetings. We keep in touch with community
structures in Syria through special envoys, the Armenian Embassy in
Damascus and the Consulate General of Armenia in Aleppo. It's obvious
that the situation in Syria is rather complicated," the Deputy Foreign
Minister said, adding that in case of necessity additional steps will
be taken without incautious and emotional statements.

1- The criticism of Armavia is pretty well founded. Armavia is not a casual privet company.
It belongs to Mr Baghdassarov, who's 'roof' is pretty well known to all Armenia....
It did not appear thanks to 'casual' privet investment policy, but by the planned and organised 'bankrupcy' of its predecessor Armenian Airlines, by the political 'elite:leader's' immediate intervention (AA: a privet company in its turn belonging to the previous clan of 'Levonakans'), wich in its own turn was the result of the planned and dishonest dismanteling of the national company inherited from Aeroflot.
As a matter of fact, for Armenians, Armavia=Baghdassarov=Serjik.
(even if on paper, you are right, there is no legal link, but in Armenia, nothing 'legal' works, and in such situation, 'Verité la Palice' is the rule of the game...).
Armavia's place is insured by an 'upper' hand behind the curtain, permitting in fact a monopolistic position, even where bilateral links do exist... so in no way Armavia can pretend to 'corporate independance'... and it would only be fair, if such 'protection' had a 'price'....
And who else than the President is responsible for the state interests, after all??

2- Armavia is one of the tips of the oligarchy, plundering the national economy, and in that sens you are right, that it must be as criticised as the Molybden or Copper mines, the Ararat cement, etc... or Dodi Gago' multiple Multi Groups.

3- Nevertheless, the way Armavia functions is a shame as a such, not today, but since day 1. It happens, that it harms Armenia's development, tourism sector, etc... and one of the arguments used to justify such misbehavior, was its very existence as 'national/independant', in off the record arguments, in the uppest circles.
The case of Aleppo is a vivid denial of it's 'national' character.... that's all. The criticism was well targeted, and the message was well received by the receiver... it is an other question, if it would change anything.

For you, anything and everything that is bad in Armenia must be originating from Government, President etc.
Anything remotely associated with Government, President etc must be in essence evil, corrupt, immoral etc... and hence be demonized at every opportunity.

We all see it very clearly Vrej.
For you, anything and everything that is bad in Armenia must be originating from Government, President etc.
Anything remotely associated with Government, President etc must be in essence evil, corrupt, immoral etc... and hence be demonized at every opportunity.

Volontary blindness is a hard to treat, but yet a curable secondary disease.
Its roots are are always the best intentions....
It's end, bitter reality...

The bad thing is, that treatment of the secondary disease is in no way a guaranty for the cure to the primary disease.
Anyway, however bitter, it helps...

Հալեպը՝ Սիրիայի երկրորդ խոշոր քաղաքը, համարվում է երկրի նախագահ Բաշար ալ-Ասադի աջակիցների հիմնական բնակավայրերից մեկը։ Ուրբաթ գիշերվանից ապստամբները սկսեցին հարձակվել քաղաքի վրա: Կիրակի օրը հաղորդվում էր, որ ապստամբները գիշերը ցած են գցել քաղաքի կենտրոնում տեղադրված` Բաշար ալ-Ասադի հոր` երկրի նախկին նախագահ Հաֆեզ ալ-Ասադի քարակերտ արձանը: Կառավարական զորքերի ու ապստամբների միջեւ փոխհրաձգություն էր տեղի ունենում քաղաքի արվարձաններում, ինչպես նաեւ կենտրոնում, փողոցներում, կառավարական զորքերի զորակայանի մոտ:

Համացանցում տեղադրված տեսանյութում ապստամբերից մեկն ասում է, թե գնում են «ազատագրելու» Հալեպը, հետո պայքարը կշարունակեն Դամասկոսում` «նախագահական պալատը դավաճանից ազատելու համար»:

Սիրիահայերի մեծ մասը ապրում է Հալեպում: Մինչ մարտերի սաստկանալը հայաստանյան ավիափոխադրողը՝ «Արմավիա»-ն դադարեցրել էր թռիչքները, իսկ վերջերս վերականգնեց` թանկացնելով տոմսերը: Սիրիայից հեռանալ ցանկացող հայերին սպասարկում էր միայն «Սիրիական ավիաուղիներ»-ը, որի օդանավերի տոմսերը մինչեւ աշուն սպառված են:

Մինչ Հալեպի վրա գրոհելը ապստամբ ուժերը իրենց հսկողության տակ են առել երկրի արտաքին սահմանային որոշ անցակետեր՝ Իրաքի հետ, ինչպես նաեւ Թուրքիայի հետ սահմանին:

Կիրակի օրը ապստամբները հայտարարեցին, որ գրավել են Թուրքիայի սահմանի հիմնական անցակետը՝ Բաբ ալ-Սալամը: Տեսանյութում երեւում է, որ ապստամբներից մեկը տանում է իրենց դրոշը եւ հայտարարում, որ կառավարական զորքերը նահանջել են` ծանր կորուստներ կրելով։

France-Presse-ը եւս, վկայակոչելով Թուրքիայի անանուն պաշտոնյայի, հաղորդում է, որ ապստամբները վերահսկում են այդ անցակետը։

Սիրիայից ստացվող տեղեկությունները դժվար է հաստատել անկախ աղբյուրներով, արտասահմանյան լրատվամիջոցների մուտքը երկիր չի թույլատրվում, իշխանություններն ու ընդդիմությունը հակասական տեղեկատվություն են հաղորդում: Իրավիճակը շատ արագ է փոխվում:

Այնուհանդերձ, Սիրիայի հարեւան երկրները իրավիճակին հետեւում են մեծ անհանգստությամբ:

Իսրայելի պաշտպանության նախարար Էհուդ Բարաքը կիրակի օրն ասել է, թե թույլ չեն տա, որ Սիրիայի քիմիական զենքը հասնի Լիբանանի «Հըզբոլա»-ի զինյալներին:

Նա հրաժարվել է մեկնաբանել ավելի վաղ արած հայտարարությունը, թե Իսրայելը կարող է մարտական գործողություն իրականացնել Սիրիայի տարածքում՝ կանխելու համար քիմիական զենքի տեղափոխումը:

Կիրակի օրը Իսրայելի պաշտպանության նախարարության մեկ այլ պաշտոնյա` Ամոս Գիլադն ասել է, թե Սիրիան հնարավորինս լավագույն ձեւով պաշտպանում է քիմիական զենքերի պահեստները, բայց նաեւ նշել է, որ իրավիճակի վատթարացման հետեւանքով Իսրայելը վախենում է, որ դրանք կարող են հայտնվել «Հըզբոլա»-ի ձեռքերում:

Ինչպես տեղեկացնում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, այս մասին նշել է ՀՀ սփյուռքի նախարար Հրանուշ Հակոբյանը, ներգաղթի մասին այս պահին տեղեկություններ չկան, որովհետեւ մեր հայրենակիցները չեն ուզում ներգաղթի խնդիր դնել, այլ պարզապես ցանկանում են երեխաների կրթության հարցերը լուծել:

«Ես ամեն օր կապի մեջ եմ Սիրիայի մեր հայրենակիցների հետ ինչպես մեր դիվանագիտական ներկայացուցչության, այնպես էլ հայկական հոգեւոր թեմերի միջոցով: Հայերն այնտեղ, իսկապես, մտահոգ են»,- ասաց նախարարը:

Սիրիայից Հայաստան եկած բոլոր սիրիահայերը լինում են նախարարությունում, որտեղ ստեղծված է համապատասխան աշխատանքային խումբ: Սիրիահայերը հիմնականում կրթության հարցեր են բարձրացնում: Հրանուշ Հակոբյանի խոսքով` շատերն այստեղ են ամառային արձակուրդներն անցկացնելու նպատակով, բայց ուզում են նաեւ, որ երեխաները սովորեն հայկական դպրոցներում կամ բարձրագույն ուսումնական հաստատություններում: «Մենք դիմել ենք Կրթության եւ գիտության նախարարությանը, որպեսզի բոլոր առաջացած խնդիրները լուծում ստանան»,- ասաց նա: Մյուս խնդիրը Սիրիայում ՀՀ անձնագրերը ստանալն է. Հայաստանի Հանրապետության նախագահը հանձնարարել է, որ օրենսդրորեն կարգավորվի այս հարցը: «Մեր նախարարությունն արդեն Կառավարության որոշման նախագիծ է պատրաստել եւ
ուղարկել գերատեսչություններին, որով հնարավորություն կտրվի Սիրիայի մեր հայրենակիցներին այս ծանր իրավիճակում անձնագրերը ստանալ տեղում: Իսկ մինչ այս անձնագրերը նրանք անպայման Հայաստանում պետք է ստանային: Սա մյուս երկրների վրա չի տարածվում, այլ երկրների քաղաքացիները պետք է Հայաստան գան եւ այստեղ անձնագիր ստանան»,- ընդգծեց նախարարը:

Մյուս կարեւոր խնդիրը վիզաների հարցն է, որպեսզի մեր հայրենակիցները կարողանան սահմանի վրա եւս վիզաներ ստանալ: Այդ խնդիրն արդեն նախարական կոմիտեում քննարկվել է եւ լուծում կտրվի Կառավարության առաջիկա նիստում: Սիրիահայերն Հայաստանում ապրելու ժամանակահատվածում ունենում են առողջական որոշակի խնդիրներ, եւ նախարարությունն օգնում է, որպեսզի նրանց համար բժշկական ծառայությունը հնարավորինս մատչելի կամ անվճար լինի: Աշխատանք փնտրող սիրիահայերի համար եւս քայլեր են ձեռնարկվում. Սփյուռքի նախարարությունն Աշխատանքի եւ սոցիալական հարցերի նախարարության հետ գործակցելով, նրանց առաջարկվում է զբաղվածության ծառայություններում առկա թափուր տեղերը: «Ընդհանուր առմամբ նախարարություն տարբեր խնդրանքներով դիմել են հարյուրից ավելի հայեր եւ դուք չեք գտնի մի հայի, որն այստեղից հեռացած լինի չբավարարված, դժգոհ կամ վիրավորված, նման բան չկա»,- հավատացնում է նախարաը: Նրա խոսքով` չկա որեւէ պետական կառույց, որը պատրաստակամ չէ սիրիահայերի խնդիրները լուծելու համար: «Մեզ մնում է մաղթել, որպեսզի խնդրի արագ հանգուցալուծում լինի, խաղաղություն հաստատվի, որովհետեւ մեր հայրենակիցները մտահոգ են իրենց գործունեության, ունեցվածքի, բիզնեսի համար»,- ասաց Հրանուշ Հակոբյանը:
