Russian MoD warns US-led coalition against airstrikes targeting Syrian Army

RT:Russia’s Defense Ministry has cautioned the US-led coalition of carrying out airstrikes on Syrian army positions, adding in Syria there are numerous S-300 and S-400 air defense systems up and running.

Russia currently has S-400 and S-300 air-defense systems deployed to protect its troops stationed at the Tartus naval supply base and the Khmeimim airbase. The radius of the weapons reach may be “a surprise” to all unidentified flying objects, Russian Defense Ministry spokesperson General Igor Konashenkov said.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, any airstrike or missile hitting targets in territory controlled by the Syrian government would put Russian personnel in danger.

“Russian air defense system crews are unlikely to have time to determine in a ‘straight line’ the exact flight paths of missiles and then who the warheads belong to. And all the illusions of amateurs about the existence of ‘invisible’ jets will face a disappointing reality,” Konashenkov added.

He also noted that Syria itself has S-200 as well as BUK systems, and their technical capabilities have been updated over the past year.

The Russian Defense Ministry’s statement came in response to what it called “leaks” in the Western media alleging that Washington is considering launching airstrikes against Syrian government forces.

US-led coalition jets bombed positions of the Syrian government forces on September 17, resulting in the deaths of 83 servicemen. Washington said the airstrike was a mistake, however Damascus claimed the incident was a “blatant aggression.”

(RT) Russia’s Defense Ministry has cautioned the US-led coalition of carrying out airstrikes on Syrian army positions, adding in Syria there are numerous S-300 and S-400 air defense systems up and running.

Russia currently has S-400 and S-300 air-defense systems deployed to protect its troops stationed at the Tartus naval supply base and the Khmeimim airbase. The radius of the weapons reach may be “a surprise” to all unidentified flying objects, Russian Defense Ministry spokesperson General Igor Konashenkov said.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, any airstrike or missile hitting targets in territory controlled by the Syrian government would put Russian personnel in danger.

The defense official said that members of the Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria are working “on the ground” delivering aid and communicating with a large number of communities in Syria.

“Therefore, any missile or air strikes on the territory controlled by the Syrian government will create a clear threat to Russian servicemen.”

“Of particular concern is information that the initiators of such provocations are representatives of the CIA and the Pentagon, who in September reported to the [US] President on the alleged controllability of ‘opposition’ fighters, but today are lobbying for ‘kinetic’ scenarios in Syria,” he said.

He cautioned Washington to conduct a “thorough calculation of the possible consequences of such plans.”

The relocation of the S-300 system in order to protect Russian ships and the naval base in Syria was confirmed by Russian defense officials on October 4. Konashenkov assured that the S-300 is a “purely defensive system and poses no threat.” Russia also has S-400 missile defense systems at Khmeimim base that were placed there after Turkey downed a Russian SU-24 jet in November of 2015.

Syria conflict: Eastern Aleppo faces 'total ruin' in two months

Rebel-held eastern parts of the Syrian city of Aleppo may face "total destruction" in two months, with thousands killed, the UN's envoy says.
Staffan de Mistura told reporters that he was prepared to personally accompany al-Qaeda-linked jihadists out of the city if it would stop the fighting.
He also appealed to Russia and Syria's government not to destroy the city for the sake of eliminating militants.
Troops have been besieging the east, where 275,000 people live, for a month.
"The bottom line is, in a maximum of two months, two and a half months the city of eastern Aleppo at this rate may be totally destroyed," Mr de Mistura told a news conference in Geneva.
"Thousands of Syrian civilians, not terrorists, will be killed and many of them wounded."


He added: "This is what you, we, the world will be seeing when we will be trying to celebrate Christmas, or the end of the year, if this continues at this rate, unimpeded. Homs [Syrian city] multiplied by 50."
He said the UN was not willing to "be passive, resign ourselves" to genocides such as those in Srebrenica and Rwanda.
'Leave in dignity'
Russia and Syria say their forces are attacking the powerful jihadist group Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, which was known as al-Nusra Front until it it formally broke off ties with al-Qaeda in July.
Mr de Mistura said about 900 of the 8,000 fighters in eastern Aleppo were members of Jabhat Fateh al-Sham and that he would willingly accompany them out of the city if they decided to leave.

Addressing the group directly, he asked if they were willing to decide the destiny of 275,000 people.
"If you did decide to leave in dignity, and with your weapons, to Idlib or anywhere you wanted to go, I personally am ready physically to accompany you," he said.
He also warned Syria and Russia that history would judge them if they used the presence of the jihadists in Aleppo as "an alibi perhaps for destroying a whole city".


The besieged east of Aleppo has come under intense aerial bombardment since a cessation of hostilities brokered by the US and Moscow collapsed last month.
Diplomatic efforts to revive the ceasefire have so far come to nothing. The US has since suspended any military co-operation with Russia over Syria.
Mr de Mistura said at least 200 wounded civilians were in need of evacuation to save their lives.
Meanwhile, Jan Egeland, the UN humanitarian advisor, said at least 376 people had been killed and 1,266 wounded in the last two weeks in Aleppo.
He added that the Syrian government has given no permits for aid convoys anywhere in the country in October.

ALEPPO, SYRIA (9:50 P.M.) - The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) managed to capture a large chunk of east Aleppo today after a 48 hour long battle with Islamist rebels of Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki and the Free Syrian Army (FSA).

Backed by Russian airstrikes, the Syrian Armed Forces captured the entire Suleiman Al-Halabi District and more than half of the Bustan Al-Basha District, leaving the Islamist rebels with their backs against the wall at nearby Sakhour.

Making matters worse for the Islamist rebels in east Aleppo, the Syrian Armed Forces imposed fire-control over Halab Hill, which is located at the southwestern perimeter of Al-Bureijj.

West of Al-Bureijj, the Syrian Armed Forces captured 50 percent of Al-'Oweija after breaking through Nouriddeen Al-Zinki's first line of defense at the western axis of this district.

I saw this headline “Turkey to build military base in southeastern city of Çukurca”

Started wondering why they picked “Çukurca” and it all made sense when looking at the location.
We all know how turkey is trying to control the kurds in Syria and it seams it is going to control the kurds in Iraq with water war.

There are two main sources that the kurds in Iraq get their water from the turkish side and it seams they are their main sources.

1- Is the Tigris which turks built a dam couple years ago

Let us not forget how the Iranian side are desperate for water in the region. They even were asking on diverting water from Lake Sevan to Urmia.
