But there is one fundamental diffrence between kemal and erdogan, religion.
While kemal turned turkey to seculiarism, erdogan is turning it to islamism.
There is no way islamic turkey will get along with europe, specially now as islam is becoming more and more one of the big challenges that europe faces.
Islamic turkey no way can become truly allied with russia either, as Russia has its own problems with islam and panturkism.
Also, islamised sunny turkey definitely will get in deeper sunny/shia conflict with Iran.
So, in my opinion erdogan is zeroing turkey's options for future.
Deeper it will islamise ( and erdogan is just starting to) more it will be none compatible with western world.
Turkey us not saudi arabia, which ows its exidtence to western powers and their desire in using islamic fundamentalism for their geopolitical games.

Islam allows them to lead the country with feelings and rhetoric instead of actual results. It lets them get huge financial sums in aid from the GCC instead of having to show proper financials to the WB and IMF. The irony is that a lot of the economic strength brought to Turkey came from it by being secular, by moving closer to EU standards, especially in the 90s and 2000s. Now, Erdogan seems to be reversing all of this.

In general, the Ottoman sultans were Islamist too.
Their project was the Islamization of Europe
But they received military support (at different times) from the British, French and German empires
In the 1854-56 Crimean war tens of thousands of British and French troops died to defend Ottoman Turkey from Russia
Erdogan's wants the revival of Ottomanism but he is probably less conservative than the Ottoman sultans

Հայաստանի պաշտպանության նախարար Վիգեն Սարգսյանը Երևանում երկու օր առաջ անցկացված «Վալդայ» միջազգային բանավիճային ակումբի ֆորումի ժամանակ ունեցած ելույթում, ռուսական RT հեռուստաընկերությանը տված հարցազրույցում անդրադարձել է հարավկովկասյան տարածաշրջանի վրա ռուս-թուրքական հարաբերությունների ազդեցությանը: Նա ասել է, որ եթե Ռուսաստանին հաջողվի ձեռք բերել կախատեսելի Թուրքիա, դա կբխի Հայաստանի շահերից: «Որովհետեւ ավելի հասկանալի եւ կանխատեսելի Թուրքիան այն է, ինչի մասին մենք միշտ մտածել ենք: Վստահ չեմ, թե դա արագ կարող է տեղի ունենալ՝ հաշվի առնելով Թուրքիայում հիմա տեղի ունեցող գործընթացները: ...Հայ-ռուսական ռազմավարական համագործակցությունն արտահայտված է նաեւ Գյումրիում ռուսական 102-րդ ռազմակայանի առկայության մեջ: Այն տարածաշրջանում անչափ լուրջ զսպող գործոն է»,- ասել է Վիգեն Սարգսյանը:

Պաշտոնական Երևանի կողմից այս ուղերձը հնչում է ռուս-թուրքական հարաբերությունների՝ վերջին ամիսներին կայծակնային արագություն ստացած վերականգնման գործընթացի ֆոնին: Մարտի 10-ին Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Էրդողանը մեկ տարվա ընթացքում իր երրորդ այցը կատարեց Մոսկվա: Բանակցություններից հետո նա նախագահ Պուտինի հետ գոհունակությամբ արձանագրեց, որ երկկողմ հարաբերությունները գրեթե ամբողջ ծավալով վերականգնվել են 2015-ին սկսված խոր ճգնաժամից հետո: Հանդիպումից հետո նրանց հայտարարություններից պարզ դարձավ, որ թեև կողմերը համաձայնությունների չեն հանգել Ղրիմի, սիրիական քրդերի հարցերում, բայց կարողացել են ընդհանուր մոտեցում որդեգրել Սիրիայի տարածքային ամբողջականության պահպանման և 2015թ. նոյեմբերից առկախված խոշոր տնտեսական երկու նախագծերը՝ «Թուրքական հոսք» գազատարի շինարարությունը և Թուրքիայում «Աքքույու» ատոմակայանի կառուցումը վերսկսելու շուրջ:

Մոսկվան և Անկարան ոչնչի առջև կանգ չեն առնում հարաբերությունները նախկինից ավելի բարձր մակարդակի հասցնելու համար: Ռուսաստանը դրանում շահագրգռված է Թուրքիայի մասնակցությամբ մերձավորարևելյան տարածաշրջանի հակամարտությունների կարգավորման մեջ Արևմուտքի դերը նվազագույնի հասցնելու, այնտեղ ամուր հաստատվելու և իր նկատմամբ Արևմուտքի կողմից շարունակվող տնտեսական շրջափակման հետևանքները մեղմելու համար: Այս իմաստով` Ռուսաստանին իսկապես անհրաժեշտ է գործ ունենալ հնարավորինս կանխատեսելի և վստահելի Թուրքիայի հետ:

Սակայն հարցն այն է, որ որքան Ռուսաստանը մերձենում է Թուրքիային, այնքան միջազգային մակարդակով վերջինիս դարձնում է ավելի անկանխատեսելի: Բանն այն է, որ Ռուսաստանն իր այս քաղաքականությամբ սպասարկում է Թուրքիայում օսմանյան կայսրությունը վերականգնելու և դեպի արևելք ծավալվելու` պանթուրքիստական մարազմով տառապող Էրդողանի տոտալիտար ռեժիմի հաստատմանը, որը լեգիտիմ բնույթ կստանա ապրիլին կայանալիք սահմանադրական փոփոխություններով: Ամբողջ Եվրոպան որդեգրել է Թուրքիայում սուլթանության հաստատման էրդողանական շարժընթացին խոչընդոտելու դիրքավորում: Դրա համար են Գերմանիայի, Հոլանդիայի, Դանիայի իշխանություններն արգելում իրենց երկրներում թուրքական համայնքների հետ սահմանադրական հանրաքվեի քարոզարշավի շրջանակում թուրքական կառավարության ներկայացուցիչների հանդիպումները՝ չխորշելով միջպետական դիվանագիտական սկանդալներից: Էրդողանի հետևողական քաղաքականության ներքո Եվրոպան ոչ այնքան ժողովրդավարական արժեքներից Թուրքիայի օտարման, որքան վերջինիս լիարժեք անվերահսկելի դառնալու իրական վտանգ է տեսնում:

Ի հեճուկս Արևմուտքի` Էրդողանի առջև բացելով գիրկը՝ Մոսկվան ոչ միայն նրան միջազգային մեկուսացումից ձերբազատվելու հնարավորություն է ընձեռում, այլև լուրջ խաղաքարտ է տալիս Էրդողանին` պրոռուսական կողմնորոշում որդեգրելու իմիտացիա ստեղծել և դրանով իսկ իր պահանջարկը ԵՄ-ի և Արևմուտքի մոտ մեծացնել: Մոսկվան ուղղակիորեն սպասարկում է Արևմուտքի և իր հակասությունների վրա խաղալու և երկու բևեռներից էլ դիվիդենդներ ստանալու` Անկարայի ավանդական արտաքին քաղաքականությունը՝ բացարձակապես որևէ երաշխիք չունենալով, որ Անկարան գոնե իր համար բավականաչափ վստահելի է:

Թուրքիայի հարցում ռուսական դիվանագիտության՝ հավերժական թվացող կուրությունը, պատմության սխալներից դասեր չքաղելու հանգամանքը ոչ միայն միշտ աշխատել է հենց Ռուսաստանի դեմ, այլև վտանգի տակ է դրել Թուրքիային հարակից տարածաշրջանները: Դեռևս պարզ չէ՝ այդ ինքնուրույնացումն ինչպե՞ս է անդրադառնալու հարավկովկասյան տարածաշրջանի վրա, օրինակ` Իրանի և ԱՄՆ-ի միջև օր օրի սրվող ճգնաժամի համատեքստում, մանավանդ, որ դրան զուգահեռ ու գուցե դրա ազդեցությամբ գնալով սրվում են Թեհրանի և Անկարայի հարաբերությունները: Իրանական թնջուկը միտումնավոր շրջանցվում է Անկարայի և Մոսկվայի օրակարգում: Մինչդեռ տարածաշրջանի համար դա կենսական է, քանի որ ուղղակիորեն վերաբերում է նրա բոլոր երկրների և Հայաստանի անվտանգությանը:

Այս իմաստով չափազանց կարևոր էր երևանյան ֆորումում Վիգեն Սարգսյանի արած այն դիտարկումը, թե հայերի պատմական հիշողության մեջ մնում է խոր վիրավորանքն անցած դարասկզբի այն պայմանավորվածություններից, որոնցով Հայաստանի պատմական հողերը հանձնվեցին Թուրքիային։ Պարզ է՝ նախարարի ակնարկը վերաբերում է քեմալական Թուրքիայի և բոլշևիկյան Ռուսաստանի մերձեցման արգասիք` 1921թ. Մոսկվայի և Կարսի պայմանագրերին, որոնցով Հայաստանը, ըստ էության, բաժանվեց նրանց միջև: Առաջին անգամ է, որ Երևանը նման մակարդակով Մոսկվային հիշեցնում է այն գինը, որը վճարել է Թուրքիայի հետ Ռուսաստանի մերձեցման համար: Իսկ հիշեցման նպատակն էր, թերևս, պարզաբանել, որ նախ՝ Երևանը չի հավատում երկարաժամկետ հեռանկարով Մոսկվայի և Անկարայի միջև վստահելի տանդեմի ձևավորմանը: Երկրորդ՝ Մոսկվային հասկանալի է դարձնում, որ թեև ռուս-թուրքական կանխատեսելի, կայուն հարաբերությունները Հայաստանի համար ավելի նախընտրելի են, քան քաղաքական կոնֆրոնտացիան կամ պատերազմը, սակայն Երևանը նաև հասկանում է, թե ինչպես կարող են թիկունքում լարվող դավադրությամբ իրեն կամ իր կենսական շահերը զոհաբերվել այդ հերթական սիրախաղերին, հետևաբար` ամեն ինչ անելու է` նման հեռանկար թույլ չտալու համար:

Այդ հայտարարությունը թեև նկատելիորեն թույլ, սակայն պատասխան էր նաև Մոսկվայում Պուտինի հետ հանդիպումից հետո Էրդողանի արած այն բացահայտմանը, թե Ռուսաստանի և Թուրքիայի համագործակցության Խորհրդի նիստում բարձր մակարդակով քննարկվել են Թուրքիա-Ռուսաստան-Ադրբեջան եռյակ միության ստեղծման և այդ համատեքստում Արցախյան հակամարտության կարգավորման հարցերը: Այս համատեքստում կարելի է հասկանալ նաև Վիգեն Սարգսյանի հիշեցումը թե՛ հայ-իրանական սերտ բարեկամական հարաբերությունների և թե՛, հատկապես, Հայաստան-ՆԱՏՕ գործակցության մասին: Դրանցով Երևանն անուղղակիորեն զգուշացրեց իր անվտանգության ապահովման այլընտրանքային ուղղության ընտրության հնարավորությունը, եթե չաշխատեն անվտանգության ապահովման ռուսական երաշխիքները, կամ Մոսկվան փորձի գործել դրանց հակառակ:

Turkish forces help ISIS in east Aleppo by attacking Syrian Army troops

BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:10 A.M.) – The Turkish-led forces in the eastern countryside of Aleppo continued their attacks against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) near the city of Al-Bab, local activists reported this past weekend.

Taking advantage of the Syrian Arab Army’s large major battle with the Islamic State (ISIS) near the Euphrates River, the Turkish forces and their rebel allies attacked the government troops again, capturing 3 border guards near the Al-Bab Silos.

Turkey is fully aware that the Syrian Arab Army is fighting the Islamic State militants; however, this is their chance to attack the government troops and land grab while the latter attempts to clear the Euphrates region of the terrorist forces.

In addition to land grabbing, the Turkish forces are attempting to delay the Syrian Army’s advance, along with the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

While the Syrian Arab Army has mostly held their ground against the Turkish forces, they are still in need of reinforcements near Al-Bab, as the latter and their rebel allies intensify their attacks.
