That would be a good idea. Screw turkey up so it disintegrates. If Iraqi Kurds get independence there's a good chance they will grab Syrian territories too. If 12-15mln country next to turkey, then they will take the fight inside.

Concerning the small pocket of Efrin, it is supposed, that the US and Russia divided their respective zones by the Yeprad river.
The only exception is the bridgehead west of the Yeprad around Manbij, that effectively the US protected against turkish open threats since a year now.. irrespective of their apparent promises to Erdogan, about its imminent evacuation east of the river.
Who could have guessed, that the pride of Syria, the biggest dam Assad on Yeprad, well beyond normal kurdish claims, will turn to be a national kurdish asset by now?
So Afrin is an exception, and the only place where russians have a say in kurdish matters....
And no surprise, if they trade it today...
If not today, they will do it one day or an other..., well it won't be a major game changer any way.
The Kurds will reach the Medterranean shores anyway in Kilikia, since they have replaced us there...Comment

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan will meet Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi this week to discuss their concerns about an independence referendum in Iraq’s Kurdish region.
Turkey, the United States and other Western powers have advised authorities in the semi-autonomous region to cancel the vote, worrying that tensions it would generate might act as an unwelcome distraction from the war on Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.
With the largest Kurdish population in the region, Turkey also fears that a “Yes” vote would fuel separatism in its southeast, where militants of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) have waged an insurgency for three decades.
Kurdish leader Massoud Barzani said on Friday the referendum would go ahead as planned on Sept. 25."

Map update: Syrian Army crosses Euphrates River into ISIS-held eastern Deir Ezzor

DAMASCUS, SYRIA (8:35 P.M.) – For the first time in over five years, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has landed on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River in Deir Ezzor after completely decimating ISIS forces over the past few months.
Exploring a weak point in the Islamic State’s defensive line on Monday, the SAA used modified Russian-manufactured vehicles to establish a beachhead southeast of the city.
Subsequently, elite SAA assault units reportedly overran the villages of Marrat and Mazlum where engineers are working on entrenching positions to deter a looming ISIS counter-offensive from driving government forces back into the sea.
Meanwhile, fierce clashes continue on the contested Sakr Island while jihadist insurgents suddenly face being trapped inside ISIS-held suburbs of the provincial capital.
Long term, Suheil Al-Hassan and Issam Zahreddine – the two leading SAA commanders in Deir Ezzor – hope to strike further eastwards and retake the border with Iraq.
This military endavour would also cutoff the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) from land-grabbing further ISIS territory in the governorate.

Couple days ago the US opens its first American Military base in Shekelistan. Today the Shekelists claim they shot down an Iranian supplied drone to Hezbollah.
Since they lost Syria to Russia and Iran, fortification is starting for a new major war in the region. It should not effect us, but will be curious to see how turkey will shift and react.
Most likely they will have a major incursion in all of the northern territories of Syria and Iraq to deal with the kurds (if they can). I think shut is going to hit the fan in souther regions of our borders.
Would the azeris use the soon to come conflicts with all major powers busy and try their luck too?Comment
