The world is being polarized just like it was during the Soviet times.
Main conflicts will be around the Levant region as in Lebanon, Syria and Shekelistan.
Iran might only be involved in proxy unless it gets direct hits.
The pact is relative to Russian territory proper and not relative to its involvement protecting its interest overseas.

"Azerbaijan Laundromat: Merkel ally 'received cash from regime'

Revelations over payments by Azerbaijan to European politicians have seeped into the German election as it emerged that a close ally of Angela Merkel allegedly received money from the authoritarian regime.

The revelations are embarrassing for the German chancellor who on Tuesday was due to campaign with Karin Strenz, a Christian Democrat member of parliament, in the Baltic port city of Wismar.

According to the Süddeutsche Zeitung , Strenz was paid between €7,000 and €15,000 (£6,000-£13,000) sent to her via a firm set up by Eduard Lintner, a former German MP and lobbyist for Azerbaijan.

The Kurds are way behind us in nation building. Having such a large population it is amazing how they are put to serve other interests.
It was west, US that let the Kurds be massacred by hundreds of thousand after using them in first Iraqi war.
They may be let down again this time. Future will tell.

The Kurds are way behind us in nation building. .

Of course, simply because they are not a mono ethnic entity. At least a very significant part of them is made of our blood and meat, as we say...., that makes them, even at this imperfect stage of nation building, very impressive etno predators, overpassing the Persians, for example, and only second to turks and arabs in the region....

Having such a large population it is amazing how they are put to serve other interests..

Well everything is relative. From some perspective, they were very clever to behave like they did..., they outmanevered everybody, first of all turks. If they had independence back in the 20-s.... they would have got not even 20% of what they do have today... From the XIX century on, they are on an ethnic expansion mode, with no setbacks at all. At least not in my knowledge. If wrong, please do correct. Fact is: if you compare ethnic presence of the Large Middle East since XIX century, specially after 1876... the only nations that grew unequivocally, with no loss are the Kurds. The only slight space their ethnos "lost", provided we consider all Red Kurdistan residents were Kurds (inexact assertion), is the ex-space of Red Kurdistan in 1992-93....., on all other fronts, they only expanded, expanded, and are still in full expansion mode till today.

Look what's happenning to Deir Zor and Rakka, place they never inhabited till now...

NB: The only other etnicities that did effectively grab a space without a loss are the Yevreys and the "Azeris", if we do not consider the loss of parts of NKR for the latters...
Even the turks are not 100% on an expansion mode. They lost some space in Europe to Greeks and Bulgars, and more so to Kurds in central and southern anatolia...

It was west, US that let the Kurds be massacred by hundreds of thousand after using them in first Iraqi war. .

That's not true, they were not massacred that much, first of all...., the numbers are somewhere around 10.000 , half of it being in the famous Halabja event, well before Gulf War I.
And that kind of loss is a joke, compared to their fertility, the loss of a week production...., and given what they gained for such a minor loss, it was largely worth it.
We had such losses regularly in the XIX and XX centuries, without an inch of gain... And most of all, they recovered 100 % of their temporary retreat of the 1990-s... plus they gained a defacto state, with its own army and air carrier, flying everywhere from a landlocked Erbil, we supposedly advanced Nation could not afford....

xThey may be let down again this time.

Of course, but till now, since the 1990-s they were not, no matter what officially the West declares to please the Turks, they were methodically backed at every possible level... Since that period, they doubled their space in Syria and Irak, and specially state characteristics, under western umbrella... something the Russians would have never given them anyway, nor the Iranians. So till now, it seems they did the good choices, even if not really perfect nation building...

Սերժ Սարգսյանի ելույթը ՄԱԿ-ի գլխավոր ասամբլեայում կարող է նշանավորել Հայաստանի արտաքին քաղաքականության նոր մակարդակ ու երկրի նոր դերակատարում, ավելի ճիշտ՝ պոտենցիալ դերակատարման հստակեցում, որը հնարավոր է դարձել հատկապես վերջին երկու տարիների զարգացումների հետեւանքով:



Սերժ Սարգսյանն իր ելույթում նախ հստակեցրեց Հայաստանի հետապրիլյան դիրքորոշումը Ղարաբաղի խնդրում, որը հանգում է ինքնորոշման, կարգավիճակի ու անվտանգության ամուր երաշխիքների խնդրի առաջնային լուծմանը, մնացած խնդիրները համարելով ածանցյալ:



Ղարաբաղի խնդրից նա անցում կատարեց հայ-թուրքական արձանագրությունների ճակատագրին: Սերժ Սարգսյանը փաստացի վերջնագիր ներկայացրեց Թուրքիային, տալով 5 ամիս ժամանակ, որից հետո Հայաստանը հետ է վերցնելու իր ստորագրությունը:



Ցյուրիխում 2009 թ. հոկտեմբերին ստորագրելով արձանագրությունները, Թուրքիան Ադրբեջանի պահանջով հետագայում Ղարաբաղի խնդրով նախապայմաններ առաջադրեց Հայաստանին, արձանագրությունների վավերացումը սառեցնելով: Թուրքիան այդպիսով դարձավ Ադրբեջանի խնդիրների «պատանդը» եւ ձեռքից բաց թողեց այնպիսի հնարավորություններ, որոնց կարիքը հիմա արդեն զգում է ամենայն սրությամբ:



Այս երկու տարում շատ բան է փոխվել, Թուրքիան թեեւ հռչակել էր զրո խնդիր հարեւանների հետ սկզբունքը, իրականում խնդիրներ ունի բոլոր հարեւանների հետ: Թուրքիան խրվել է Սիրիայում, որտեղ զրկվել է ԱՄՆ-ի ու ՆԱՏՕ-ի իր դաշնակիցների աջակցությունից եւ մենակ մնացել իր խնդիրների հետ: Սիրիայի ու ընդհանրապես Մերձավոր Արեւելքի զարգացումները լուրջ սպառնալիք են Թուրքիայի համար, նկատի առնելով Իրաքի Քրդստանում սպասվող հանրաքվեն եւ անկախ պետության հռչակումը:



Փորձագետները նշում են, որ այս իրադարձությունը, չնայած Թուրքիայի ջանքերին, չի կարող իր ազդեցությունը չունենալ Թուրքիայի ներքին զարգացումների վրա, եւ լավագույն ելքը, որ սպասվում է Թուրքիային, երկրի ֆեդերալացումն է:



Այս իրադարձությունների, ու նաեւ Թուրքիայի միջազգային մեկուսացման քաղաքականության համատեքստում օբյեկտիվորեն աճում է հայկական գործոնը թե հայկական խնդիրների համալիրի, թե նաեւ տարածաշրջանի երկրների՝ արաբական աշխարհի, Իրանի հետ հայերի ավանդական կապերի համատեքստում: Դրանք ընդլայնման մեծ պոտենցիալ ունեն, ինչն անկասկած ուժեղացնում է Հայաստանի դիրքերը տարածաշրջանում:



Թերեւս հենց այս հանգամանքները նկատի առնելով էլ Սերժ Սարգսյանը աշխարհի թիվ մեկ ամբիոնից Թուրքիայի հետ խոսել է վերջնագրի դիրքից: Մինչ այդ, Հայաստան-Սփյուռք համաժողովում նա քննադատել էր Թուրքիայի քաղաքականությունը, Սփյուռքի ներկայացուցիչներին փաստացի կոչ անելով աշխատել սեփական երկրների կառույցների հետ պահանջատիրության դիրքերից:



Կարելի՞ է արձանագրել, որ Հայաստանն ընդլայնում է իր քաղաքականության «համահայկական» ու միջազգային արեալը նոր իրողությունների համատեքստում, ներկայացնելով որոշակի դերակատարության հայտ, ինչն անկասկած համահունչ է գլոբալ բավական լուրջ շահերի ու խնդիրների հետ: Այս առումով, հայկական խնդիրները, այդ թվում Ղարաբաղի հարցը, անցնում են այլ հարթություն, որտեղ փոխվում են այդ խնդիրների դրվածքն ու դրանց կարգավորման տրամաբանությունն ու մեխանիզմները:



Ղարաբաղյան պատերազմում հաղթանակը, ինչպես նշում է մոսկվաբնակ մեր հայրենակից քաղաքագետը, հանգեցրեց Ցյուրիխին, իսկ ապրիլյան պատերազմը բերել է «նոր Ցյուրիխին»՝ տարածաշրջանի հարյուրամյա ստատուս քվոյի վախճանի արձանագրմանը: Թուրքիայի այս կամ այն հնարավոր պատասխանը իրավիճակը չեն փոխելու:



Խաղը բարդ է ու բազմաշերտ, մեծ հնարավորություններով ու ռիսկերով, ներկայում անիրական թվացող արդյունքներով: Կա՞ համարժեք քաղաքականության հնարավորություն՝ անցյալ դարասկզբի սխեմաներից խուսափելու համար:

BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:55 P.M.) – The latest offensive by jihadist militias in northern Hama Governorate against the Syrian Army as turned out to be a complete disaster for their forces resulting in hundreds of casualties and the loss of dozens of military vehicles.

Yesterday, both Ha’yat Tahrir al-Sham (Syrian Al-Qaeda affiliate) and the Turkistan Islamic Party launched a huge offensive against Syrian Arab Army positions in northern Hama.

In the event, Syrian Army forces were completely prepared and stopped the offensive dead in its tracks by the end of the day.

Russian and Syrian airpower capitalized on the thwarted jihadist offensive by launching interdiction and strategic raids against militant bases, vehicle convoys and rear-area fire support positions in both northern Hama and southern Idlib provinces.

Now it has become apparent that within the space of 24 hours, jihadist forces lost hundreds of fighters dead as well as dozens of tanks and vehicles destroyed or abandoned.

According to one military source, on the front-lines around northern Hama, at least one militants were killed and another 150-200 wounded. In addition to this, the terrorists lost nine armed pickup trucks, five battle tanks (two of them T-90s which were captured in 2016), four BMP infantry fighting vehicles and two car bombs (both of which never even left their starting off points before being pre-detonated).

However these are only front-line statistics.

Interdiction and strategic raids carried out by the Russian and Syrian air forces throughout northern Hama and southern Idlib also resulted in at least another 200 terrorists being killed.

DAMASCUS, SYRIA (6:00 A.M.) – In a remarkable series of photos, ISIS militants watch close by as an entire convoy of the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) tanks roll along the M45-highway in southeastern Hama.

The photos were released by Amaq Agency overnight and show the SAA convoy being targeted by gunfire, mortar shells and rockets. Two tanks are even shown completely burned out, suggesting them to have been knocked out in battle.

A couple graphic images showing two dead SAA soldiers were also published by Amaq Agency in the same batch of pictures; Al-Masdar News has however chosen not to release these photos out of respect for the families of the fallen soldiers.

Despite ISIS’ propaganda wing hinting the contrary, the SAA is advancing rapidly in central Syria while it appears to be only a matter of time before the Islamic State’s pocket in eastern Homs/Hama is liquidated.

Russia threatens to attack US-backed forces in Deir Ezzor

BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:10 P.M.) – The Russian Ministry of Defense has issued a formal warning to the US military regarding the behavior of their forces in the Deir Ezzor Governorate.

“Russia unequivocally told the commanders of US forces in Al Udeid Airbase (Qatar) that it will not tolerate any shelling from the areas where the SDF are stationed,” the Spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Major General Igor Konashenkov, stated this morning, adding that the attacks put at risk Russian military advisers embedded with Syrian government troops.

“Fire from positions in regions [controlled by the SDF] will be suppressed by all means necessary,” he stressed.

The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have shelled the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) positions in Deir Ezzor at least two times this week; this has prompted the Russian Ministry of Defense’s to issue a stern warning to Washington.
