You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

    Ex-Russian Envoy Again Warns Armenia

    Sargis Harutyunyan

Armenia will put its national security and independence at serious risk unless rejects “Western values” to fully align itself with Russia, a former Russian ambassador in Yerevan warned on Tuesday.

Vyacheslav Kovalenko claimed that failure to make a “final” geopolitical choice in favor of Russia could thrust the country into the kind of crisis that has plagued Ukraine since the overthrow of a pro-Russian government in Kiev.

“Armenia must make a choice because in order for the economy of a small country like Armenia to develop, it has to integrate, it has to join some integration structures,” Kovalenko told Armenian journalists in a video conference from Moscow. “And the choice here is stark. I think the situation will develop in such a way that we will require Armenia to make that choice.

“Armenia can’t endlessly balance [between rival foreign powers] in this complicated international situation. So a lot depends on Armenia’s historical choice: the future of the country, the future of the Armenian people and the future of Armenians in general.”

“Will Armenia remain an independent state with its own national policy, national interests and identity respected around the world?” continued the diplomat who headed the Russian mission in Yerevan until March 2013. “Will it embrace instead the Western values which … will exist as long as Western powers continue their aggressive policies?”

Echoing the official Russian line, Kovalenko claimed that the spread of those values was responsible for the Ukraine crisis. “It is very important that what is now happening in Ukraine, where such [conflicting] relationships have emerged between various segments of the population, is not repeated [in Armenia,]” he said.

“I think that the Armenians, who are one of the most ancient peoples in the world and outlived other peoples that are now non-existent, now live on thanks to right choices which they have always made at critical historical moments. Now is such a critical historical moment in which the Armenians must make a final choice for themselves.”

The ex-envoy, whose current status is not clear, did not clarify whether the Armenian government should only join the Russian-led Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) or go further and freeze or downgrade relations with the West.

President Serzh Sarkisian has sought to deepen those ties even after unexpectedly deciding to make Armenia part of the EEU in August 2013. That decision is widely believed to have been the result of strong Russian pressure exerted on Sarkisian. The latter had previously planned to sign a far-reaching Association Agreement with the European Union.

Kovalenko exposed the Russian pressure in an interview published in July 2013. “By embracing European values, Armenia, it appears, could step onto a slippery path,” he warned.

The 68-year-old diplomat has had no official position in the Russian diplomatic ever since the end of his four-year tour of duty in Armenia. Still, in an indication of his lingering links with the Russian establishment, he accompanied Dmitry Kiselyov, Russia’s most famous TV journalist close to the Kremlin, on a trip to Yerevan in June 2014.

Kiselyov caused an uproar during that visit when he said that the Russian language must be granted an official status in Armenia. Kovalenko backed those calls rejected by the Armenian leadership.

He is basically saying he wants Armenia to remain a Russian satellite state, until Russia no longer needs it.

If Russian-Armenian relations turn sour, and I know this might be a death sentence, but we should request NATO integration immediately.

It is within the interests of NATO, to integrate as many Russian aligned nations as possible, and politically isolate Russia.

Russia has nothing on us, unlike Ukraine where they were able to create a frozen conflict to slow NATO integration. They cannot do anything to us. They won't be able to invade us, although...They would be able to give Azerbaijan the okay to resume the war. Thats why NATO integration should be implemented immediately.

Moscow is playing us, and they are trying to push us even more into their sphere of influence. They are trying to bring us down with them, by forcing us into political isolation.

If Armenia goes pro-West..then there is not much Moscow can do to slow integration. As we do not share a border, there are hardly any ethnic Russians in the country, etc. The only thing Russia can do, is cut off our gas and freeze us out. Although that would receive widespread condemnation, and eventually sanctions from the West. Crippling ones.

What a load of BS. Isn't he one of those Soviet nationalist guys?

Moscow, cannot touch Armenia if it goes the other way, like Ukraine. Moscow can only turn the knob on the gas, and pray that Armenia would come crawling back.

I wouldn't be suprised if Armenia had its own "maidan" soon. As these stupid comments from Russian politicians, are enabling russophobia, and hatred for the Russian government.

Another genius speaks like yeh sure lets join nato and the eu and then we can have free front row seats as Turkey steamrolls across Armenia proving just how useful such structures are for us. The Russian alliance has kept the Turk at bay for almost a hundred years what will France or Belgium do if the turk invades? You think USA will stand up for us instead? What did nato do for its member called Cyprus? How about the EU? Yeh another rosy color revolution sure why not i mean just look at the trackrecord of success..just look at Libya, Afganistan, Iraq, Ukraine, Syria..yeh like who wouldn't want to be a part of that group.

I just don't want to see Armenia becoming isolated like Russia is now. I dont care about NATO or CSTO or staying loyal to Russia or anything like that. We do whats best for our country. To isolate us even further, is a death sentence within itself.

          Libya, Afganistan, Iraq, Ukraine, Syria
. All countries NATO has toppled and crippled. When I say Maidan, I dont mean a legit revolution. Im talking about a Western staged overthrow like Ukraine.

Im not asking Armenia to become a slave for the IMF. Im just saying, Russia isn't a knight in shining armor who is fighting against NATO beasts. They are looking out for themselves and they are using their neighbors to further their political goals. Think about it. If a Western back coup does happen, (and we can't stop it if it does) then we have no choice. Either let Russia rip out nation apart (Which would be hard for them to do), or submit and join NATO.

You are right, Russia is standing between us and Turkey. A year ago, I would have been all for Russian aligned Armenia, but after seeing what Russia does to its former allies, then I think its safe to say that if an event were to take place, then we should accept it.

I don't want Armenia to become a province in Turkey

but I also don't want Armenia to be part of the Russian Federation either. At some point, we will have to choose.

Complete political isolation and economic dependency on a foreign nation

          or

We face the Turks on our own.

Hayastan should NOT join NATO, even if they (NATO/USA/Euro/IMF/etc) flung the door wide open.
The Russian kovalenko is only running his mouth and does not change the interplay between Armenian govt & Russian govt.
As I've said before, dispite our tenuous independen, we are actually using our sovereignty exceptionally well.
We have not rolled over to Russian pressure, but rather have gotten value by keeping the door open to western overtures while not blindly following either side.
By us dropping the euro economic and choosing the Eurasian economic you actually see this ... We have still keep the eu cooperation door open (if they have anything worth) (and) we have --NOT-- rolled over to every Eurasian economic demand, but rather are still negotiating with no full fledged joining yet.
Dispite my extreme dislike for the sargsyan/oligarch connection, he and team have and are playing hardball with giants and doing it with great skill.
The Ukraine are fkd. The multi billion $ bailout is a sham. The money that ukrain owes to the conniving mega bank chumps is being given to them by various countries (west) to be given to (drum roll) the conniving mega bank chumps. --- slick---
Ukrain gets zip, unless one counts what's going up their rear..
The deals Russia worked out with us, especially military effectiveness concerns, because we moved toward Eurasian rather than us/euro,are truly significant. And yet we still haven't inked the Eurasian deal as it was presented, but rather are working out that which is benificial to us. Kudos to our tough and skilled diplomatic stand.
There will be no joining of NATO, and there will be no rolling over to Russian demands.
And we are going to get some of the best weapons (long range) produced on this planet. Other weapons as well.
Russian will not status in Hayastan (laughing) and we are getting stronger by the day.
            Fk NATO.

---- on Russian isolation by the west (conniving thieves)----
If one is sucking on the USA/euro/IMF/central bank PROPAGANDA straw, the land mass called Russia is isolated.
              What a joke.
Isolated from China (laughter), from India (more laughter), Iran (...).
Russia posses such natural resources as to be second only to the African --- CONTINENT---.
              --- sanctions by the west---
Notice how the volume on that vitriol has dropped to a virtual whisper.
One might check the actual sanctions Russia instituted toward the sanctioners of the bs west.
              Punch for punch.
Not one cubic foot of natural gas has stopped going from Russia to Europe. Those handling the mega bucks are not going to strangle (attempt to strangle) the massive (MASSIVE) trade between Russia and euro.
It's a politicle thing between USA/euro and Russia with mega bank actually third party playing both sides as manipulator.
Although Armenia is in (and has been) an extremely tenuous position, we are a sovereign country that is being vied for and courted with great concern.
That's a card in our hip pocket.

Yeh Arty i agree with you about the skillfulness of our government in foreign affairs. We managed to make the Turks look like chums. We have gotten significant benefits from all sides. The one incident that made us look weak was the axe murderer situation but it also made the Azeris look like the blood thirsty stab you in the back while you are sleeping slimeballs they really are. I only wish our leaders were as skillful in domestic affairs.

Yes, you & I & the vast majority of us.
The oligarch has a strong strangle hold.
Those at home (Hayastan) who seek an alternative, equitable conduct are not able to rest control from those who have the strangle hold on govt & civil functions.
The diaspora in conjunction with those at home -- NEEDS -- to coordinate an effective response.
The actual resources to do this exists within the diaspora in sufficient quantity, even robust quantity.
The coordination amongst diaspora is weak. The coordination between diaspora & home team is weak.
I cannot see a sound plan from within or without or the combination.
A complete revitalization of purpose and conduct is needed or nothing is going to change that strangle hold the elite bigots are using to retain their self serving, greed ridden conduct on the domestic front.

RUSSIAN EXPERT: ARMENIA SHOULD BE INTERESTED IN RUSSIAN-AZERI ARMS DEALS

                    by Nana Martirosyan

                    Monday, September 29, 18:13

Russia's only goal is to avoid a new war in Nagorno-Karabakh, Head
of the Caucasus Department of the CIS Institute Sergey Mikheyev said
                    during a Yerevan-Moscow TV link-up on Monday.

He said that both Armenia and Azerbaijan urge Russia to sever contacts
with the opposite side and to develop ties with them only.

"We cannot do this as this may cause instability in the region. The
point here is that in order to guarantee peace in the region, Russia
has to keep balance between the parties," Mikheyev said.

Director of the Public Political Studies Center Vladimir Yevseyev said
that if Russia stops selling arms to Azerbaijan, Israel, the US or
somebody else will start doing it. "So, Armenia should be interested
in Azerbaijan's buying arms from Russia as the Russians know their
arms and will be able to help the Armenians with 'antidotes' if
need be. There is no evil design in these supplies. Russia is not
going to abandon Armenia. All it wants is just peace in the region,"
                    Yevseyev said.

It was reported on 26 May that Russia planned to supply another
ordered lot of 6 TOS-1A heavy flamethrower systems. According to
Uralvagonzavod plant, under a contract with Azerbaijan, that country
