Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

      • Who wants oil? Cheap oil! Free oil? No takers

"The Lonely Drifting Oil Tanker That Signals OPEC's Struggle

If a single ship can capture the current state of the global oil, it’s the supertanker Saiq, floating idly about 850 kilometers (528 miles) south of the Canary Islands.

Until a few days ago, the 330-meter-long tanker, chartered by Royal Dutch Shell Plc, was steaming at 13 knots toward the Chinese port of Tianjin after loading a two-million-barrel cargo of North Sea oil at the Hound Point terminal near Edinburgh. Then, it suddenly stopped in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, according to ship-tracking data compiled by Bloomberg.

Its problem: China isn’t buying much crude right now, leaving the tanker searching for a customer. While the vessel was floating near Africa last week, Shell offered to sell the cargo in a ship-to-ship transfer all the way back in Scotland. There weren’t any takers.

        • Few years ago I read an article about oil prices which was comparing oil to other products with it's cost (overhead) and pricing.
The conclusion was that oil per it's unit which is a barrel, should be priced around $20 to be par with any other product. The reason of high price was the market speculators and constant politicking and strong world opinion that oil reserves were ending.
Oil goes thru several layers of speculators and traders who all skim very very healthy profit before it reaches to consumers.
like in California. This state's market is closed and full of regulations which keep gasoline about a dollar higher than other states.
But despite growing economies and with discovery of more and more reserves, oil demand is not increasing. People are moving into other types of energy use, like solar and electric or hybrid cars.
Being a big strategic item, still, oil price bubble may burst even further.

" The data is out, and the price of oil is dropping.

US crude inventories fell by 1.7 million barrels from last week, according to the US Energy Information Administration. The price of futures contracts for West Texas Intermediate fell on the news by about 6.35%. Brent Oil Futures are down 3.0%.

Oil inventories are still on the high end of the typical range for this time in the year, according to the EIA release. The high supply has kept oil prices low, with the commodity slipping nearly 4% so far this year, excluding Wednesday’s drops.

OPEC countries recently announced a higher than expected supply of oil thanks to increased production from Libya and Nigeria.

The number of oil rigs in the US has also been rising for a while, setting a record for the longest run of an increase in oil rigs."

When Azerbaijan’s biggest bank wanted to raise hundreds of millions of dollars from funds in neighboring Kazakhstan, it headed 2,700 miles in the opposite direction to Ireland.

The International Bank of Azerbaijan, or IBA, used obscure Dublin-based entities to sell bonds that were bought by state-linked funds in Kazakhstan about three years ago. Now, the Baku-based lender has defaulted and its long-time chief executive officer is in jail for embezzlement, while a $22 billion national pension fund across the Caspian Sea in Almaty is probing its investment in the debts.

Actually prosecuting this level of corruption or scandal is difficult because it has become an acceptable form or money laundering / tax evading by the 1%. I was reading the book, "Perfectly Legal", by David Cay Johnston. The tax system in the US is a joke, I can only imagine Ireland being the EU version of Deleware or Bermuda.

I think the reason why the SOFAZ $33bln assets are not being touched is because on the books they might be SOFAZ, but in reality the real ownership is probably more complex, probably all of it is is the assets of the Aliyev's, and they're not going to lose their fortune to finance the state.

Reading all the failings of the Azeri state, I just hoped there was as much positive news on the Armenian side as in we were developing and building.

Also, has anyone else here noticed that when they search for Azeri news on the internet, there are a lot more Georgian sources popping up? This is pretty much after the kidnapping of the journalist. I wonder how far the Azeri roaches have infested Georgian media.

                    • SOCAR applies to Georgian government for increase of gas price

Natural gas price may rise 5 tetri in Georgia. APA-Economics reports citing to Rezonansi newspaper that four companies – SOCAR Georgia Gas, Gruzgograz, Kaztransgaz and Gas transportation company - applied to government for increase of tariff.

The companies say the appeal was caused by volatility in GEL and investments they made.

The government did not comment on the issue. Georgian Tariff Commission said that the most of documents of the companies have already considered.

Experts say the increase may be about 5 tetri: “This will be difficult for low-income families, especially in winter. However, the increase is inevitable and the new tariff will be more real”.
