According to Experts, the F-35 is too costly unlike the F-22. So getting rid of F-35 and producing more F-22 is more likely. Meanwhile, Experts agree that Russia's
T-50 PAK-FA is the greatest competitor to the F-22

F-22 is the best choice. F-35 Vs F-16

Dogfights are not really relevant in modern day warfare.

                Roger that.

In todays 4-5th Gen fighter jets winning depends on long range Radar detection, acquisition and lock on multiple targets at the same time, rockets or missiles capable of engaging those targets, stealth and aircraft performance. Whoever has the best system wins long before pilots even see each other.

With that said most fighters still have guns just in case of dogfight.

The F-35 Helmet itself is a work of art and becomes part of you.

However, for any 5th generation fighter, having an gun is optional.

When first F-4's were built, they were designed to shoot down the enemy aircraft from the distance by long range missiles only and did not carry any gun. As a result Mig-21's would come closer and shoot F-4's down very easily. Now that was a very big lesson.

For any 5th jet fighter T-50 or F-22 the dogfight is optional, but not actually necessary. But the problem with the F-35 is that it may end up like F-4's if no dogfight capabilities which are optional.

Never fly a Fighter jet without guns, needed or not.......any military pilot would agree.

The F-4 got its guns later.
